Our recent trip to the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory was truly magical! Our tickets for admission were included with our Wonder Pass Plus purchase. This attraction doesn't require an appointment, but it is a longer bus ride from the other Niagara Parks attractions, so be sure to plan for that. We used our passes to take the WEGO bus from Niagara Takes Flight to the butterfly conservatory. Rain was in the forecast, so this is a nice, indoor option. The conservatory itself houses so many butterflies, and they tell you upon entry that it is thought to be lucky if a blue one lands on you, so everyone inside is doing their best to attract a blue butterfly. Several landed on us, and while you don't want to move for fear of them flying away, you also want to get your companion's attention to snap that perfect pic! We had lots of fun even though the temperature is kept very warm and the space was crowded. Clearly, everyone had the same rainy-day activity planned. My only complaint comes from when I asked about re-entry. I was told that we could leave the conservatory, but not the building. We wanted to visit the cafe and grab a bite to eat or something to drink and perhaps return once the crowd had thinned out a bit, but that is not permitted. We were told that we could step out to cool down in the gift shop or lobby area and then return through the same entrance that we used when we arrived. The volunteer got on her walkie to tell someone that we'd be coming back in, so I'm not even sure that this is normally permitted. Overall, it was a fun and new experience for us. The staff was kind and the conservatory is beautiful. There's also a botanical garden and at least one beehive there, but we didn't get to explore the outdoor areas due to the rain. read more

It was middle of autumn weekend, and we assumed it the conservatory would be completely empty. It wasn't packed, but it was fairly busy. Online ticket purchase helped and we were quickly inside. Although busy we were able to finish the entire round, up and down in less than 30 minutes. Some of the butterflies were unique. They flew in all directions, some so near to us. Other than the butterflies there is nothing else to see or do. We did two rounds and we were still done in under 45 minutes. Wish there was multiple things to see and do or some more history or background for all or some of the butterflies. There are some written things, but not enough. read more

I visited the Butterfly Conservatory and really enjoyed the experience. I somewhat knew what to expect because I have been to several butterfly farms before, so I was expecting the usual enclosed environment with butterflies flying freely around. However, this conservatory was even prettier than some of the other butterfly attractions I have visited. The environment itself is beautiful and peaceful. There are numerous butterflies flying around, along with lovely greenery, waterfalls, and water features that make the space feel calm and relaxing. It is a very nice attraction for anyone who enjoys nature, photography, or simply wants a peaceful place to explore. One part that really stood out to me was the interactive activity at the end of the experience. Guests are given a coloring sheet with a butterfly, hummingbird, or another design to color. Once finished, the attraction attendant scans the artwork, and then your colored image appears on a screen. I thought that was such a cool and creative feature. It added something extra and memorable to the visit. Overall, the Butterfly Conservatory was a beautiful and enjoyable attraction. The butterflies, scenery, water features, and interactive activity made it a relaxing and fun experience. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area. read more

We paid for tickets, and then paid for parking to enter. Staff were super friendly and informative. The kids in our group (ages 1, 3, 4, and 6) loved the butterflies! It was so neat to see all the different types of butterflies they had flying around. They even had an area housing various chrysalises! We had a stroller with us, and it was easy to stroll around. I would highly recommend, especially if you have kids in the group or just enjoy a short peaceful walk surrounded by beautiful butterflies and flowers. read more

Oh my gosh! I wish I could live here! The butterfly conservatory and parking was included in the Wonder Pass. It is a bit of a drive outside of the Niagara Falls downtown area, but totally worth it. I spent almost an hour inside carefully walking around and enjoying the countless butterflies as they fluttered around me. It is very humid so be prepared to sweat a bit. I did not see one staff member while I was there which I would have hoped to have because numerous kids and even adults were not being mindful where they were walking and getting a bit too close to the butterflies. It is a look but don't touch kind of experience, but I think some visitors forget that. This is a must see in my book. read more

Great place for all ages. We bought the package so this was one of the attractions that was on our list We took the bus to the conservatory and they dropped us off. You can also drive there in your car but I think parking is $8 an hour. We were here the first week of May so they had not done much landscaping with the flowers I think they wait until mid May to do that so that was kind of a bummer. When you first walk in make sure you do the full movie it's very interesting. It's only about 10 minutes long. But it shows drone footage of what the grounds look like during the summer. After the movie head to the conservatory where you will be surrounded with butterflies! They said there's about 50 types but I only found about 10. Take your time and go around and around We stayed in here almost an hour. It is very hot in there like 80° so with a sweater I was sweating but pushed through. We had a couple butterflies land on us and it made a smile. Once you leave the conservatory you'll see the beautiful gift shop with everything butterfly you could imagine. The butterfly conservatory was included with our adventure pass. It's the next drop off spot after the Floral Clock. It's about a 15 minute ride so you with need to drive there and pay for parking or take the WEGO which also costs but if you purchase the adventure pass you can ride the bus as much as you want for 3 days. I can imagine how beautiful the garden area is here is in June or July, we are here in the off season so there are no flowers. Inside there is a large gift shop with a few displays, a small theater presenting a brief educational video, and of course the conservatory. It's warm and humid in the conservatory so dress appropriately otherwise you will be sweating. There are thousands of butterflies flying around eating, and laying eggs. Nancy, her sister, and I had several butterflies land on us which was a great experience and made for wonderful photos. I even had one try to sneak out with me on a crease in my backpack when we were leaving, lol! We stayed in the conservatory for at least 40 minutes and had a wonderful time. My mom and I took a day trip and went up to the butterfly conservatory in Niagara on the lake! It was a beautiful set up with thousands of butterflies flying around the enclosed greenhouse! The live plants and waterfalls inside the conservatory made it feel like a true rainforest! The grounds both inside and outside the conservatory were maintained so well! If you want to walk amongst butterflies then you can't do any better than Niagara's Butterfly Conservatory! There are loads of different kinds of butterflies and they don't seem to be afraid of people, so they will fly all around you and sometimes even land on you! Essentially, the conservatory is just a big greenhouse full of butterflies, plants, and greenery with several walking paths. However being able to be up close and personal with butterflies is an experience I've never had before, which makes it so worth while. A couple things to note: In my opinion, where you really get value is by just finding a spot to sit and watch. I find butterflies come and go in waves and really cool to see. Also, keep in mind that it is a greenhouse and dress appropriately! It's hot and humid. It's definitely worth it but I came out with a good sweat. This was literally my favorite part of our trip . This was so beautiful . I would recommend going as soon as they open . We went for 9 am and it was empty . It's pretty short but you can sit and just enjoy the butterflies . You don't have to worry about if it's alot of butterflies the conservatory was FILLED with butterflies they were soooo beautiful I almost cried . So many different species and some I always wanted to see up close and was able to . AMAZING! The beauty and awesomeness of this butterfly bonanza cannot be conveyed in words and videos alone. Take the wego bus, enjoy 70% fewer tourists, and GO! We walked in and were simply buffeted by all amazing sorts of butterflies. While the immediate experience is beautiful, stick around an hour or so in the warmth and the butterflies will flock to you. I recommend hanging by the waterfall as you can see several layers of the conservatory and multiple types of butterflies going in and out. The falls will bring you to the area but this will be memorable in its own way. There's clean bathroom and a snack shop on site as well. This place was definitely worth it for $19. We arrived on the WeGo bus ($14 for a 24-hour pass took us directly to it and looped us back to our hotel). It was warm inside but not uncomfortably hot, despite it being a hot day. The inside is very large and beautiful with lush greenery, many trees and even a waterfall. We had several butterflies land on us while walking around. It was a very nice experience. We explored the gardens afterwards but every were doing construction/landscaping so there wasn't much to look at. Definitely worth it for a one-time experience. read more

This is a beautiful (but a bit small) place with so much foliage, water features, and of course butterflies of so many colors and sizes. It's so cool having them flutter around you continuously, and if you are lucky you might even get a butterfly kiss! Like most tourist places they get you at the beginning with the obligatory photo opp. My wife asked about if she blinked and maybe should get a second snap but the employee said no it was fine. Well she should have taken another picture as my wife wanted, because it did catch her with sleepy eyes. What a wonderful treat- and poor John couldn't say no, lol. It was my birthday and I wanted to go. Hundreds of photos later and thousands of butterflies to be seen, plus the lush gardens maintained to support all of those butterflies. I even got to witness a butterfly from the emergence window make its way out and flutter off! This conservatory is considered one of the largest glass-enclosed butterfly conservatories in North America. I'm pretty certain I had at least one butterfly on my hat while I wandered around! Such an amazing experience! We knew we had to check this place out as well as some of the other touristy things in the area. On the way to the observatory are beautiful green spaces-including a golf course. (Visited early Sept). Staff were nice and the price to enter is decent! We paid metered parking for about an hour (you probably won't need more than that). There's a brief video before you enter the dome. Saw so many varieties of butterflies. The dome is humid so keep that in mind. If you place your finger out, some are friendly enough to climb on top of your finger-but please be delicate and watch where you step! They will flutter around you and you'll feel like a Disney Princess or Prince :) Absolutely recommend. Would definitely visit again if I'm in the area. read more

We took the WeGo bus here (second to last stop on the Green Line South) after a brief visit at the underwhelming Floral Clock. This was a nice stop for us...lots of butterflies and an impressive pupal stage viewing area. It was odd however that guests were observed and possibly permitted reaching into the foliage to touch the butterflies. Instead of finding an employee the intro film instructs visitors to gently lift the butterflies up off the floor and place them gently back into the leaves and flowers. One person did this but others especially young children were grabbing at every winged creature they could. Be prepared for 80 degree temps inside. This observatory was not as impressive as others we have visited but it was a lovely way to spend a few hours while visiting Niagara. Great opportunity for photographers. We visited the butterfly conservatory last weekend and had an amazing experience. The grounds are beautiful and the conservatory has over 2000 species of butterflies. When you begin your tour, you can watch the optional video, which I found very informative. In case you skip the video, it tells you to watch your step inside the conservatory to make sure you don't accidentally step on a butterfly while walking through. The video also shows you how to pick up a butterfly without injuring them. First note: do not touch their delicate wings. This conservatory has the most butterflies in any conservatory I have been in Canada thus far. While walking around we stopped at various points to see if we could hold a butterfly on our finger. Both my fiancé and I held a butterfly at this conservatory. I had a few butterflies land on my hand and my fiancé had some land on his head and chest. We really enjoyed the interactive experience at this conservatory and I would recommend it to anyone. They have a waterfall and a coat check. I highly recommend the coat check because the conservatory is about 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Would we go back? Absolutely! read more

I always love coming to this place. It's well run, the staff are friendly here as well. I feel sad though when I see dead butterflies on the ground. I know it's inevitable. They do have signs posted to watch out for butterflies on the ground. But I'm sure some people aren't very aware of where they are walking. Kids usually aren't very aware but I can't blame them. It's a big dome with a winding trail so it's not actually that large. But I love watching the butterflies anyway. There are so many different varieties. A number of times the butterflies landed on me. One even landed on hubby's hat & wouldn't leave. I think his hat looked like a giant flower & it was trying to figure out why it couldn't get any nectar. LOL. Anyway, we had complimentary tickets from 2020 that we weren't able to use because covid locked things down in our city for a bit. But they let us use our tickets this year. Very nice of them. I'll keep coming back here for sure. I'm not sure why they don't have something like this in Toronto? It would be quite doable & would be a great attraction. But then again more people coming to such a place would mean more disturbance for the butterflies. read more

A magical place for everyone. Easy to get to off the green line on wego transport busses. Walk in and walk into a fantasy! The butterflies are all over and may rest on your body. It's a very beautiful place. I suggest taking your time and lingering, otherwise the end of the path can come up rather quickly. I love butterflies so how can I not love the butterfly conservatory? The butterfly conservatory is part of the Niagara Falls Explorer Pass. This pass includes Journey Behind the Falls, Butterfly Conservatory and a Single-Day Parking Pass for $35. At the ticket booth there's a small pamphlet with 12 species of butterflies shown so you're able to identify the ones that you see. Before entering the dome you can take a souvenir photo with your palm facing up. When you check your photo in the gift shop you'll magically see a butterfly in the palm of your hand. There's a lot of variety in the gift shop. They've got many butterfly related items, clothes, plushies, jewelry and of course the souvenir photo for purchase. I believe the cost of the photo was $25. I found that the blue morpho butterflies were always flying around and never landed long enough for me to get a photo. The colour of the blue on their wings is incredible. I had a great time slowly walking on the path admiring all the butterflies all around me. The conservatory is not very big so we did not end up spending the suggested 90 minutes there. read more

So cool. We bought tickets and parking in advance online. Saved 1 cad on 2 adults. The unlimited day parking in any lot is convenient for 31 cad. There's a free coat room since the enclosure is warm. Started with a movie about butterflies. Once inside, the butterflies are everywhere. Some may land on you. My elementary aged kids could have stayed for hours! You exit into the gift shop.
