Niagara Parks' Botanical Gardens is a place to experience nature's beauty and horticultural excellence. The gardens span 99 acres with meticulously designed landscapes, and showcases award-winning gardens that burst with vibrant seasonal blooms and lush, overflowing greenery. During my visit, I walked along peaceful trails, where seasonal display beds had a fresh palette of stunning flowers and foliage. I explored the parterre, rose, vegetable and herb gardens, and let the serene beauty of Niagara's most beautiful natural surroundings These gardens were some of my favorite: *Herb Garden - meticulously curated garden showcases culinary herbs from around the world, medicinal plants and herbs used in commercial applications. With fragrant perfume plants, vibrant dye plants, as well as herbs for brewing beverages and homeopathic remedies. At the heart of the Herb Garden, there is a charming knot garden and a classic sundial, elegantly positioned along the central axis, adding a touch of timeless beauty to this botanical sanctuary. *Rose Garden - Covering more than two acres and a cherished part of the Botanical Gardens since the 1940s, the Rose Garden is a stunning showcase of over 2,400 roses. With 54 meticulously maintained rose beds and 31 vibrant annual display beds, this garden offers an exquisite sensory feast powered by nature. Explore a diverse collection of roses, including fragrant hybrid teas, colourful floribunda, elegant grandiflora and enchanting climbing rose varieties. Bring a book to read at one of the many benches throughout , spend a whole day, take your time wandering, savoring the beautiful grounds then grab lunch or a coffee or drink at the cafe! read more

A free garden where we could spend an hour or so till we went to the butterfly conservatory. It was not huge and some of it was overrun with weeds but it offered nice scenery. It rained heavily the morning off and there was some flooded areas that we couldn't traverse. read more

My birthday- I spent an hour hiking the gardens in a light rain, which meant 2 things- the flowers glistened beautifully and there was next to no one else there! I could have wandered longer, but I left John in the car to stay dry while I was exploring. The rose garden was breathtaking! I loved all the gardens I found my way into, natural ones, lush with trees and ponds, the one with tall hedges that had a labyrinth feel and lovely little succulent gardens tucked between rocks in had a surprising artistic charm. I even saw chipmunks, black squirrels and a few birds. The grounds are spectacular- don't let a little rain keep you away! Did I mention that it's free? You do have to pay to park though. read more

It's free! And it is beautiful. I don't know why you wouldn't stop by for a stroll if you are in the area. We started the morning with a walk there after breakfast. What an excellent way to start the day. It would really be pleasant any time of the day. We visited in September and were surprise by how much was still in bloom. You do have to pay $5 for parking, unless you bike there, but it is well-worth $5. read more

We came to the botanic gardens to see tulips in bloom (there are amazing tulips in Niagara-on-the-lake in this time of the year), but to our disappointment there were none in the botanic gardens. They told us that they no longer plant tulips because of deer. The gardens are nice, but there were very few things in bloom, mostly rhododendrons. They appear to have a great collection of roses, so it may be worth a visit later in season when roses are in bloom. read more

Beautiful park but beware that summer hours do not begin until JULY--which is not explained when they happily allow you to pay to park and before the very terse and unfriendly woman at the butterfly house curtly rejects your overtures to come in for the last half hour. Better communication would greatly enhance this little gem. read more

Incredible Botanical Gardens a reasonable distance from both Niagara Falls or Niagara-on-the-Lake. Our group of 26 traveled out to the gardens with a packed picnic lunch (from Zee's Grill in NOTL) on a sunny but cool day. The gardens are huge, with self guided tours {through a botanical gardens APP} and everything is well labeled! Even the trees have labels in them--this is fantastic for any nature lover/garden enthusiast. Your visit here can be as long as short as you like, but I highly recommend at least two hours to wander, plus you'll want to take some time to enter the butterfly conservatory inside the gardens [gardens are free, but you have to pay for butterfly conservatory!] Also, note there is a $5 parking fee. The parks are all STUDENT maintained through the Niagara Parks School of Horticulture. They even have housing at the parks, thus, the gardens are open from dawn until dusk {I want to go to school there!} The grounds encompasses 99 acres of land with many separate gardens and lots of green space in-between. SOME of the gardens include: the rock garden, shade garden, vegetable garden(S), herb garden, woodland garden (don't get lost in here!), Perterre garden and even an ornamental grass garden! DO NOT MISS the rose gardens (depending on the year, these can also have an incredible tulip display). They even have carriage rides and a cafe in addition to public bathrooms and free Wi-fi. You WILL be inspired to create a garden of your own at home once you give the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens a visit! read more

Nice garden. we went over the boarder for a short visit with our dog .. our pug P-nut. It was super hot and humid and uncomfortable out that day .. it started drizzling rain which made it more humid. But still enjoyed out visit and our dog did great. We happened upon the gardens and they were lovely. read more

Garden has no entrance fee, only the butterfly conservatory charges a fee. The gardens are worth taking a look around if you're in the area. The rose garden area is nice. I'm visiting in Fall, so I can only imagine how beautiful the rose garden must be in the spring and summer. Tip - There is free parking, after turning in make a left. But it was only open when we visited around 5pm, earlier in the day it was closed off forcing people to pay at the $5 lot to the right. read more

Favorite Experience!! Don't miss the Butterfly Conservatory. My family (2 adults and 2 teenagers) visited here on our trip to Niagara Falls in July 2019. If you are going to Niagara Falls, you cannot miss this. It was one of my favorite parts of my entire trip. You can easily spend over 2 hours here. The Botanical Gardens are free, and the Butterfly Conservatory is an extra $15 per person, but it is so worth it. That is where we spent the majority of our time. Walking in, you can see butterflies flying all around you, and some will even land on you or let you hold them. All different kinds of vegetation encircles​ the pathways as you wind around the room. Plenty of helpful, knowledgeable staff are around to answer any questions you may have. It is really a beautiful place, and so worth a visit. Great place for pictures, and kids and adults of all ages will enjoy it. ​ read more

Very impressive collection of gardens! There are a variety of plant groupings throughout this pretty large area, including a large selection of veggies and herbs, a butterfly garden, ornamental grasses, roses, and shrubs, plus an arboretum. There are a lot of lovely features to help enhance the plants and flowers, like small ponds, waterfalls, sculptures, fountains, and the like. It's also fun to see the name of the gardens spelled out by shaped plantlife. Very pretty! The Butterfly Conservatory is also located here, for an additional charge. Parking is available onsite, for a charge, and the gardens can also be accessed by bus or biking/walking along the Niagara River Recreation Trail. A free Android app is available on their website offers walking tours. read more

What a beautiful garden spot to show off all the flowers, shrubs, herbs, trees, vegetables and just about anything else that grows from the ground. First and foremost this is a school to teach botanical skills and what a marvelous teaching area they have. The trails and paths between the various gardens are impressive and just beautiful. If you like roses, go here. If you want to see herbs, this is the spot. If you want to learn about succulents or prairie grasses, yep, its here too. Shade plants or plants that love the sun - they are here too. A beautiful place in a park like setting - a peaceful and tranquil place to spend a few hours with nature. read more

What a gem this place is! AND FREE! We strolled through it on a bright sunny spring day and had such an amazing time. The Botanical Garden is very beautiful and well maintained. Such a lovely way to spend several hours or a day. Lots of different features, such as an herb garden, rose garden, formal gardens with hedge walls, long tree-lined pathways, water features, an aviary, and large open spaces punctuated with gorgeous specimens of unique and beautiful trees. A nice place to let the kids just run and get some fresh air. All the trees are marked, which is helpful because you'll probably see some you'll be wondering about. My favorite was the Harlequin Maple, which has beautiful bright green variegated leaves. I also love the black squirrels!! We don't have those in Ohio, that I know of. They have horse drawn carriage rides, which looked very enjoyable, but the price was $20 per PERSON here. Up the road a bit in Niagara On The Lake, you can get a flat rate carriage ride through a town that is just as beautiful and garden-like a town as you can find. There is a snack shop on the grounds, and they had a lot of choices, including some healthy ones. You can get soft drinks, water, tea and coffee here. We just got some water and ice cream, as their food prices were pretty high. The WeGo buses have a stop here, with shaded benches and beautiful plantings around them. read more

If someone depended on yelp, they might end up at the wrong place and be frustrated. There is a listing for the Butterfly Conservatory on Yelp that is in the gardens, but that address is wrong too. I am not impressed with Yelp ... ... but I am impressed with the Gardens. I was at Edward Gardens a couple of days earlier and thought that was gorgeous, but this is one is even nicer. I can see why couples come here to take their wedding pictures. The area is large so there is a lot to see. Parking is $5, but for some reason, our parking fee was waived. read more

Was really pretty and we really enjoyed the miniature area. Wasn't to far a walk from the Falls either. We were happy with it

Within the botanical gardens is the butterfly conservancy. We added the butterfly conservancy to our adventure pass for $8. Normally it is $13. It was cool to be around so many beautiful butterflies. I also recommend not skipping the short video when you first enter the area. It was informative and I was glad to have taken the time to watch. This location is a stop on the WEGO bus system. If you are visiting Niagara I highly suggest getting a bus pass from the park. We walked a lot but it was a nice back up and it was the only way to get to the conservancy unless you drive your own car. read more

A really well managed botanical experience for both garden aficionados and parents who just want to let their kids burn off energy in a beautiful place. There's a vegetable garden to teach the kids about gardening, and lots of open spaces to see new plants, flowers, and butterflies. There's no charge for the gardens, only the butterfly exhibit (find coupons), and park up the road for free parking. Made for a fun and affordable day. read more
