The facility is clean and welcoming . The staff really care about the residents. COVID-19 has been hard on all of the residents, staff and families. They are now able to allow families to visit. I know everyone has different experiences and perspectives. I personally know that this facility provides great service. When you know that the owner is a nurse and the administrator and you see her daily in the facility it is comforting knowing a conglomerate is NOT running the building from a far. I am sure that this is a very tough job and people are at their worst when they get to rehab but I have found that a " please, thank you and a smile " go A LONG way. Quite often you get back what you give. Please remember that these workers do not have the ability or luxury to work from home. That they are working in a PANDEMIC and they really are doing their best while scared and worried about their health and family. We are grateful that they have been so cautious about COVID and continue to provide excellent rehabilitation and KINDNESS and DIGNITY to our elders. read more

This facility was completely unprepared to release my 91-year-old mother an entire three (3) days following medicare notice of non-coverage; which was issued 3 weeks after her hip replacement surgery. Because they stated the doctor "left for vacation to Mexico," they could not provide me her medications, a list of her medications, and none of her prescriptions had been called into the pharmacy. Further, they did not have a cheap aluminum walker to send her home with. Because the head nurse had expressed she was confident she would be kept on after appeal, she left me scrambling to fly from out of state the following day after rejection. This all took place on a FRIDAY evening, with no options but to go the weekend without meds or a walker. I managed to arrive the following day, but the couldn't handle a basic discharge that is part of what they do every single day as a business. They SHOULD have kept my mother over the weekend at no charge to her to make up for their MAJOR blunder (instead they estimated about $500 per night out of pocket). When I found my mother waiting for me, they had a quarantine sign on her door but my mother wasn't sick. The nurse told me the sign had to do with her roommate who had left a couple days prior, so my other said she was not even being attended to. I would NOT recommend this facility if you're looking for a place your loved one will be treated like an actual human being, worthy of respect, and who will help with any sort of transition after discharge. read more

There is Questionable care here. Late response to needs for medical care, medication times, even when called - staff wasn't around, or available to come in. My grandmother needed rehab for walking after falling badly in her apartment. She spent a month in the hospital, she was so excited to go to a rehab facility to get back to walking, and she was in there for one week. We spent a lot of time talking to the nurses and night nurses about wearing her Cpap machine at night and her CO2 levels raised to the point of confusion. My grandmother is very clear headed. All the time. The doctor at the hospital wanted her to have a CPAP on all night every night while there to avoid any issue. She had to go back to the ICU at the hospital due to high CO2 levels from simple sleep apnea. High CO2 levels cause confusion, delerium, and even brain damage and are very scary. This never should happen at a care facility if the nurses were skilled & actually checking on their patients throughout the evening. If they were staffed and skilled, we wouldn't have evidence of negligence either. I would recommend against bringing any of your elderly family members with any needs (besides something simple) to this location if you can avoid it. They seem understaffed & undereducated on anything "extra" that might be needed for a loved one. Which is highly saddening when you have a loved one willing to do whatever it takes to keep going but doesn't have the ability to ask for what they need on their own without YOU there to advocate. That is scary. Avoid. You can always get good reviews if someone is happy... or if they're bribed. We didn't have that good experience. I would always recommend to do an interview and make sure they CAN actually accommodate your loved one the way THEY need before entering those doors. At any location. Lesson learned at this location. My husband was a patient at Bothell Healthcare for Rehab after suffering small strokes in January. We feel fortunate and grateful for all the wonderful care and therapy he received there. He was finally able to return home after 3 months. I was happy to be able to visit him as much as I wanted during the day. We enjoyed having a very large private room with bathroom and shower with a refrigerator and overlooking a nice large courtyard. Since he was there during the height of Covid cases we were impressed by their Infection Control policies. Everyone visiting and entering the facility signs in on a kiosk which asks pertinent Covid health questions and then dispenses a badge. At that time, face shields and N-95 masks were required and provided to staff and visitors. That policy has relaxed somewhat to only surgical face masks are required and provided. Overall the housekeeping was very good and generally the facility is quite clean. Generally the food was alright but really institutional although they do try to accommodate special needs. Their meal philosophy is set up with generally heavier lunches and then lighter dinners like soups, salads and sandwiches. The facility is managed by Julie Bingman who is a RN and the Administrator. She does a top notch job making tough decisions and is visible walking around in the halls to her office. A new wing is even in the planning stages for the near future. It felt like the staff really seemed to enjoy working there, generally seemed to get along well with each other and often were seen laughing together. The staff on the 400 hall where my husband was a patient were kind, help and understanding. Sometimes our call light might be on for a little while but it was because the staff were busy carrying for other patients. They work very hard during these difficult times caused by Covid. They would often come in with an explanation or apology for a wait. We especially thank everyone especially the charge nurse Desi, Jennifer and Tanya at the Front Desks, CNAs Percy, Joe, Michael, Gladys, Victoria, Chance, Kim, Ezie, Ying, Claire, Sara and the two med nurses named Kay. The Physical and Occupational Therapy Department under the supervision of Danielle was excellent. Susan in Speech Therapy was also very helpful. We were lucky to have really great therapists like Blake PT and Shannon OT almost routinely and had other good ones like Mary, Ann, Cindy, Aaron and Carolyn when they were off. My husband generally had Rehab almost daily including weekends. He clearly improved quickly. Then Helen the Social Worker was helpful in making the transition back home. We hope my husband will not need to go through Rehab again but if so, we would highly recommend Bothell Healthcare and definitely happily return there again. read more

It seems fishy this place has 5 glowing reviews over the course of five weeks. Let's start with the positives: their checkin/checkout process is streamlined and they have pretty good covid protocols in place for the visitors compared to other facilities we were visiting. Everything looked clean and the food looked edible (I did not try it but also did not hear of complaints). A family member had a recent stay there and I'm going to have trouble articulating my full disappointment. If I could sum up my thoughts, I would say this place suffers from a severe lack of compassion towards patients and their families along with poor organizational processes and lack of accountability. As an example: There was a constant "Help Me" moan coming from the hallway. I was appalled when a staff member checked on this person and berated her. I think the patient had memory issues or something and I'm sure it's grating on the staff, but it seemed really inhumane. As an example: It was near impossible to get timely reports about patient status and progressions. This was brought up multiple times to multiple people. Nobody took ownership. Everybody passed the buck and tried to pawn the task off to another person. read more

I visited my sister at Bothell Health Care from the East Coast and I was totally impressed with the Physical Therapist there. He was amazing! I've seen a lot of PT's in my life and he was exceptional. He helped her with her anxiety and was encouraging and firm, continually telling her she could do it and that her oxygen level was fine. The last year has been hard on everyone especially those living and working in long term care. At Bothell Health Care they enforced strict infection control protocols through the Covid-19 pandemic in effort to keep their residents and staff safe. Visitation is now allowed and they continue to make things as safe as possible for visitors and their residents. For that I am truly grateful! The facility is always clean and inviting. The staff are always kind and treat the residents there with care. I would recommend this facility to anyone in need of Long Term Care services. read more

My mother had very good health care in every way.

This company location was taken over by a different company in August 2010. As of December, 2010 there appears to be some major problems associated with the change of hands. The turn over rate of employees is above normal. The friendly atmosphere has changed significantly throughout the building. The new staff doesn't appear to be as qualified/professional as the old staff. I am giving the location 2 stars (as opposed to 1) only because of the therapy department which remains in tact since the take over, headed up by a strong director who is also the resident speech pathologist... and more importantly the only manager who makes herself available to the patients and their families. I'm going to give the company the benefit of the doubt for now as there are always growing pains when a company switches hands. However, they're on shaky ground and I would wait until the company found its footing before placing a family member in this location. read more

I don't even know where to begin with this place. If negative stars were a think on Yelp I'd pick that instead, they don't even deserve this one star. My mother had a double bypass on December 2nd 2017. Her surgeon recommended she go into a nursing home for 5-7 days after her surgery so they could help with therapy, meds, etc. At first my mom was hesitant about it but decided it was the best choice. The social worker at Overlake gave us a list of insurance approved places, the link to read reviews and we chose Bothell Health Care because they had decent reviews and it was close to my moms house, as well as her sisters. The day they transferred her into the facility, half of the building was on lockdown because of the Nora Virus. Why would they even risk infecting others with anything by allowing my mom to come in on this date? I showed up right after work that day, with clothes and the essentials that my mom needed. She had been sitting in a broken wheelchair for a few hours, there was no other chair to sit in. She was in a shared room, which was fine given she was only going to be there for a week. If we knew there were other options then we would've opted for them, but that wasn't explained to us at any point. That night I had the worst anxiety that I've had in months, I didn't even want to leave her there that night but we didn't have a choice. No one from our family could be with her 24/7 and we didn't have the right equipment in the house to help her yet. The next day my mother continued to sit in her broken wheelchair for 12 hours straight, going to the bathroom only one time. We had to fight to get a working wheelchair, we had to hunt down our own walker for her. They kept offering her 2 orange juices (she's diabetic) with breakfast and sometimes dinner. They tried to give her medication for narcolepsy without even checking her medication list, we never once saw a doctor. They were trying to feed her pills and wouldn't tell us what they were. They never took her on walks, by day 3 I stood in the hallway for 45min waiting to talk to her social worker because our meeting with her wasn't scheduled until 6 days after my mom had been there. I asked her about going on walks, taking a shower, how do we get all of this done? Showers were only twice a week apparently, we finally got her onto the shower schedule by day 4 of being there. One night her dinner was a cheese sandwich, not grilled, not warm. It was a hoagie bun with 4 pieces of cheese on it, that's it. Seriously? No wonder why people are going downhill in that place. How do you expect them to get healthy or recover? Let's talk about "therapy"...my mom went twice, in 5 days. First time she got to bat a balloon back and forth with the therapist. The second time, she was lucky enough to decorate the sidewalk of a gingerbread house with M&Ms. The last day that my mom was there, the lady next door died. Granted, I know she had issues (screaming in the middle of the night, etc.) but still I'm sure that the facility didn't help her any. My mom had gained so much water at this point that her legs were swollen up to the tops of her thighs. Worst I had ever seen them, they weren't managing her medications at all by this time. My aunt called me to tell me as she was with her that morning, I made the call to ask them to call 911 and bring her back to the hospital after speaking with her surgeons office. The facility wouldn't call 911 for her, they said they could only call AMR and arrange them to come and pick her up. They then called me asking me to sign a "hold my bed" form in which I replied "screw you" and said that my mother would never step foot into that place again. That doesn't even include them waiting 3 days before they asked me to sign all of her paperwork to admit her into that facility. Took her photo without permission, put her name on the wall without permission. The gal at the front desk that I had asked a couple of questions too because I had no idea how things worked there, or who to talk too was beyond rude to me for asking 2 simple questions. All of this among a million other issues we faced with them. I hope that no one puts their loved ones here, if they are here I'd suggest you move them as quickly as you can. They clearly need better management. Biggest lesson learned of our lives and I'm just thankful that my mom is still able to be here with us today. read more

RUN! THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE. My 78 y/o mother has Alzheimer's & had a severe brain hemorrhage, she was sent there for "rehab." She fell out of the bed within a few days of being there. They causally said they found her on the floor at 3am AND they had no idea how long she was on the filthy floor!! Mind you, she could not talk, was paralyzed on the right side & could not move, so she laid on the floor until some finally found her!! I was livid to say the least, They said it happens sometimes!!! What??? You would think because this stuff "happens" they'd have safety measures in place, right? Like the bed low to the floor, a crash pad and last but not least regular nurse check ins, right? But NO! Also, they told me my mom was not injured yet she had a HUGE bruise on her face!!! Also, I had to buy my mom comfortable clothes & they kept losing her clothes!!! If you tell the management anything they ignore & place the blame on you. It was CRAZY!!! BUT, I absolutely loved the receptionists Kyra, Molly & Andrea. They need to train the management team on how to treat patients & their family. RUN. DON'T SEND YOUR LOVED ONE HERE!!! They also gave my Mom a broken wheelchair & said it cost $125 per month to rent!!! I have a billion stories but I will stop here. Trust me DO NOT COME HERE!!!! read more

My ex-husband (we are still best friends) has been here 3 times and is currently there. He has MS and recently had a stroke. He loves it here and even talks to the owners on occasion. They are always on top of things, moving him when he can't move, giving him his meds. He thinks the food is great. Anytime I call there the nurses are happy to talk to me and really fill me in on his status. The social worker has been amazing to us!! She totally got him all signed up for Medicaid and this process is usually declined. He was approved within weeks. She is the best!!! Whenever we just drop in he is sitting up. It is hard for him to move and they do not hesitate to help him any time!!! The entire staff is so kind and helpful. This is the ONLY place I have every been that has NO smells. Our mother suffered stroke-like symptoms resulting in right-sighted paralysis from swallowing on down to the toes, in Feb 2018 while wintering in AZ... after a few sub-par rehab facilities in Phoenix and LV, we were able to have her air lifted back home to WA in June.-- Bothell Care was willing to accept her with an extreme level of care and rehab requirements with her severe condition. The Entire Staff of Friendly Professionals from Administration, Nursing, PT/OT, CNA's, Activities, Food Service, Housekeeping, Maintenance, etc. are Very Dedicated Hard Working Employees that truly appear Devoted to the Cause (can't be easy some days for sure). My father was taken here after hospitalization. All of the staff were kind, caring, and considerate. I knew most of the staff by name on the second day. No one had the "it isn't my job" attitude. If my father needed anything, everyone was willing to help. Everyone made sure he was comfortable. He had a wonderful view of trees out his window. It was so calming. The reason it didn't get that fifth star is that they didn't get Root TV so we could watch the baseball games together. But everyone did get their own tv! read more

This place misuses medication, administers drugs without family consent and has a track record of poor care. The lack of communication between doctors, Head doctor and Head nurse practitioner did not communicate; both submit charges to administer different medications and therapies, screwing up the patients rehabilitation because they cannot seem to communicate. When confronted, they both seem clueless about the other Doctor's recommendations and insist that their choice is best. My family member was there for 4 weeks and I have 5 pages of problems and issues that arose that could have permanently affect patient's health due strictly to the lack of professionalism of this establishment and complete disorganization. I recommend that you DO NOT send your loved one here useless you are willing to visit them every day and make sure no drugs have been switched, make sure they are helping the patient use the restroom and that your loved one is eating. I will never have any family member stay here even for a day again. read more
