Based on our experience, I strongly…read moreadvise against placing any loved one in this facility--especially if they require memory care, are incontinent, or cannot advocate for themselves. From the outset, the facility had a pervasive odor of urine and uncleanliness, comparable to a soiled litter box. This was not an isolated incident; I visited daily and consistently encountered this issue, which I have not experienced at other facilities. Due to my father's insurance and financial limitations, our options were restricted. In hindsight, I regret not choosing the alternative facility. Communication with staff was extremely difficult. Phone calls often went unanswered, and when they were, staff were unable to provide basic information. Despite multiple requests, I was never able to speak with a physician regarding my father's care. I was repeatedly told they were "too busy." The social services team was disorganized and unresponsive. They frequently confused patients and failed to follow up on critical matters. On one occasion, despite confirming with three staff members that my father would be ready for a medical appointment, I arrived to find him heavily sedated and unprepared. According to the facility's own records, my father was not bathed for the entire month of January. This was discovered by his state caseworker. I recommend that all families request and review their loved one's records. Many of my father's labeled clothing items went missing. He was often left in soiled clothing for extended periods--once for three consecutive days. He developed unexplained bruises, and staff admitted he had not been checked on for hours prior to reported falls. He required supervision during meals, yet I frequently found him alone, staring at his food. Staff were often seen using their phones and socializing while call lights went unanswered. The facility experienced repeated COVID outbreaks, yet cleanliness and ventilation appeared neglected. On the day of his discharge to an adult family home, my father was so heavily sedated he could not speak. As his Power of Attorney, I had explicitly instructed that no medications be administered without my consent. This directive was ignored, and staff were unable to tell me what medications had been given. Upon arrival at the new facility, staff immediately noted hygiene concerns, including multiple sores likely caused by improper care. This facility requires a thorough investigation by state authorities--particularly regarding hygiene, staffing, and medical oversight. I am relieved my father is now in a safe, respectful environment where he is treated with dignity. To the management of Life Care Center: I am not interested in a generic response. I have attempted to raise these concerns through proper channels without resolution.

I am a professional care manager and placed my mom here for rehab and was appalled at their lack of professionalism and dignity towards residents' basic needs (that they should be aware of). I think there are some kind and hardworking/honest staff but they alone cannot meet the critical needs of residents.

Hospice transitions can be emotionally difficult, but the staff made the process gentle and seamless. What we found at this facility was another level of heartfelt care -- thanks to Tammy. The owner Gardner and care representative, Tammy cared for Mary with extraordinary devotion. She treated her not as a patient, but as someone she genuinely cherished. She understood Mary's needs instantly, offering comfort, presence, and kindness in every moment. Tammy created a peaceful environment where Mary felt safe and loved. What our family will never forget is that Tammy was with Mary during her final moments when we could not be there. Knowing that Mary was not alone -- that she was held, comforted, and cared for by someone who treated her like family -- is a gift beyond measure. Tammy's compassion brought us profound peace during one of the hardest moments of our lives. This sister facility provided exceptional hospice care, and Tammy's dedication made Mary's final days gentle and dignified. We are deeply grateful and recommend this home to any family seeking true compassion and humanity for their loved one.

First of all, is a perfectly beautiful location on the waterfront. The facility itself is so cute, they put flower pictures everywhere and big cutout of flowers to make it look like you're living in a garden. All the staff works so hard and truly care about the patients. We have been so happy with Rita at the front desk, Christabel the manager, and all our nurses, Mark, and Andrine, Ohnee, Marina, and Julieta in housekeeping. Ofra in charge of activities has been just terrific, we bring my four small kids and she lets them play with some of the activities for the patients and I think all the elderly people enjoy having the energy of the kids around. Oh, and the PT/OT team has been terrific. Susan and Alex work hard every day to get my mom on her feet and moving. Our end goal is, like Rita says, "they roll in and they walk out!" Skilled nursing is a difficult job and I think they all do it with great grace, patients, and care. I highly recommend Covenant living at the shores.

Over just four days, he gained 14 pounds. We visited every single day and reviewed his chart ourselves. The chart showed no significant weight change until the fourth day, when it suddenly reflected a 10-pound gain. No one contacted us. No one expressed concern. Alarmed, we examined our father ourselves and discovered his feet and legs were massively swollen. This was on a Saturday. When we called the head weekend nurse, he was not at all alarmed. We demanded that a doctor be contacted, but were told that no doctor responded because it was the weekend. To make matters worse, the room smelled like urine, and his medications were disorganized. While weekday care had seemed acceptable, the weekend care was completely unacceptable. Fearing for our father's life, we called 911 and had him transported back to the emergency room. In the first day alone, doctors removed 7 pounds of excess fluid. That fact speaks for itself. This was outrageous and dangerous negligence. If you place a loved one at Covenant Shores, do not rely on what you are told. Go every day. Look at the charts. Look at their body. Ask questions. Trust your own eyes. Never again will we allow this kind of treatment to happen to our family.

He'd always tell folks that came to tour that it was "5 star service and treatment!" He felt like royalty. I toured other places but I could "feel" the care & comfort that Alpine would provide. It was also less expensive & better than other adult family homes. It was an easy choice. I knew when I walked in when trying to decide where he would likely spend the last days, I could "feel" that this was "it." Very clean, pleasant & beautiful. Every room provided privacy & comfort. The grounds are lovely with attention & care to the landscaping & seasonal container gardening; very well-maintained. A large deck out front & gazebo in back that my brother truly enjoyed on sunny days was a big plus. He was hospitalized well over 100 days prior & wasn't able to "go out." Heather & Daniel, the owners, are both nurses with experience in adult family care. She was a director for decades & knows the ins & outs of what is needed for all situations for folks needing 24 hour care. Although my brother was only 68, they had a few tenants over 100 years old! Amazing to say the least. Heather scrutinized the prescriptions that kept changing and was "on it" when he finally needed to go back to the hospital. I'd hate to think what may have happened if it were not for her attention to his condition & needs. Alpine has a full staff of nurses that live in residence separated from the main floor so we felt assured that of my brother needed anything, anytime it was provided. Tony & Nova, the main nurses were so sweet & kind. They prepared meals & cared for my brother with absolute love & respect. They even made his recipe for spaghetti! I cannot say enough about Alpine Residences. If you can get your loved one in here, you will not regret it & would be very fortunate.

After researching many facilities, we chose Park Ridge based on its high ratings and preferable North Seattle location, closer to family who would be supporting her. It's not much on the outside -- wedged between an auto body shop and a taco truck, on a busy street corner -- but you shouldn't judge this book by its cover. The staff at Park Ridge are very attentive and caring, including doctors, social workers, nurses, therapists, etc. My mother is gluten-free and struggled for a week or so to get her diet right -- the food manager finally took over her meal preparations himself, so that he could personally guarantee that her meals were free of allergens. Therapists walked her across the street to QFC to buy snacks, and helped her get back on her feet. She recently checked out about a month ahead of schedule, and is doing great. No long-term care facility is a particularly happy place, or someplace you want to find yourself for an extended period of time.
