While the place is in quite a beautiful building, I never got the service I initially went to this place seeking. My dentist went out of network, after an extraction and bone graft but before the implant and crown, so I sought a new one for that and, most pressingly, to check on the recently arising pain in the tooth just before the empty space. I set an appt here. First, I was told to return to my prior Dentist to have him check the bite on a six month old crown (the painful tooth in question), despite my coming to Botts because the other one was out of network now. However, the only options this botts Dentist provided was to sign a waiver, absolving him of any liability should he damage my tooth in adjusting the bite, or go back to the other dentist. I was frustrated bc I expressly made the appointment about the troublesome tooth, and I felt like I'd been misled when they well knew why I set the appointment. Still, I put that aside, and I go back to my former dentist; then I return to bots asking for a quote for the implant. Since my former dentist had already said I needed a small filling, I let botts do the procedure that day to avoid more wasted time. After the filling was complete, I was quoted approximately $200 for a small insurance-covered filling--which was odd bc I've never paid more than $110, and my prior dentist is one of the top rated in the city. Yet again, I was told that I would have to come back for a separate visit to get the quote; they wouldn't even give me a ballpark without attending the appointment. No one said it would cost anything. So, I set that appointment and returned for it, but no quote was given at the end of the appointment. Instead, they said they'd call me. Minutes after leaving l get a phone call. It's them saying I owe them approximately $200. When I questioned it, the lady said she would call me back. Someone then calls me back, someone different, and says to disregard what the prior person said, that it was an error. A month passes with no quote, and I'm realizing this just isn't a good fit. So, I find a new dentist who promptly got me in for the cleaning and set the implant appt within a month. The situation felt shady, just off to me, so I counted it as an early revelation and moved on. I thought, hey, Botts is behind me, so I didn't plan to post my negative experience. However, after this nasty exchange in the photos, I thought I'd post it and let you read it for yourself. You can also see she lied about a late cancellation. I canceled on June 24th for a July 1 appointment. And before you ask, no, it's not just the receptionist or whomever has the phone. The dentist's bedside manner is also off putting. I just thought it was his personality, but I see it's a culture. Reach your own conclusion about whether it's a fit for you. read more

Dr Botts did not give me time for the sedation to work. We called immediately when we returned home (8 minutes) and told Dr Botts the sedation had worked on the drive home, I had to have help walking into the house. When I returned for my next appointment and told Dr Botts medications worked slowly on me (if he had waited 3 more minutes the work could have been done) He accused me of NOT TAKING THE PRE-MEDS AS ORDERED my husband. DR Mahan and I assured him we had followed directions but he basically said That was not true (meaning we were liars). He Never inquired why my system was slow or if Other professionals had known I was a slow reactor to medications. He stated WE had cost him money and if I used sedation again -/ he would proceed on his time schedule anyway!! His rudeness was beyond anything I have experienced With any professional. I am 73. If your system performs like the average - he is nice, already has his money. If your system is like mine - bring Proof of your condition- He was so abrasive I did not think of saying I had Proof - from other professionals that my system absorbs slowly. He is closed minded, thinks he is right no matter what the patient says, basically as far as we are concerned -- uneducated in regard to medication reactions in different individuals. Bring medical Proof and take a timed picture of you taking his medications. If you do this, you might enjoy your visit, all office personnel were kind. I cannot say anything about his dentistry Work because I never got that far. If you are average, your system Performs as HE believes everyone should, I recommend, but just Beware. read more

I used to really like coming here. In 2021 the staff and Dr. Botts himself were really warm and welcoming. The procedures were done with the patients in mind. Things were organized and timely. Then in 2022 something changed. They're always short staffed and trying to change my appointment times the same day I have them. Some of us have jobs... and taking off time isn't as easy as they make it sound, sometimes there's an audible disappointment from them when I can't rearrange my schedule for their lack of planning. Dr. Botts seems like a shell of a human, possibly stressed? He's now cold and not friendly like he used to be. And he's become very rough as a dentist. I've had a lot of work done and can say that he no longer has even a medium touch in comparison to the gentle touch he had. My jaw and mouth are always sore after leaving. I've walked out with bits of dental work and water all over my face, as if it's just a factory and they're rushing to have me in and out. Like wow don't spray my face, aim for my mouth... and maybe hand me a tissue? At one point I was gagging from all the instruments carelessly shoved in and it seemed like a bother for them to rearrange things so I could lay there somewhat comfortably as they're drilling away. The staff seem tired and sloppy too. I never see the same receptionist twice... I know COVID has worn on people, but when I'm paying thousands of dollars of work, maybe treat patients a little better? The end product is still beautiful work, but I leave feeling like I need more time to recover and kinda traumatized. read more

The staff is extremely professional and knowledgeable. The staff is friendly and they make sure to make me feel more comfortable in the dental setting. I get anxiety in dental settings and the staff always checks on me every visit. Dr. Botts is very professional and nice. He is extremely knowledgeable and he always pays attention to his patients. He provides specialized care for those patients who have fears or anxiety about dental work. Highly recommend! Seriously the friendliest dentist I've ever been too. If you have anxiety about dentist like me then this is the place to go. They go above and beyond to make sure you feel comfortable and calm while you are getting your teeth cleaned or worked on. I have never experienced a dentist quite like Botts Dental Spa before. I have also never received a paraffin wax hand treatment before while at the dentist. I called Botts Dental Spa with a last minute dental emergency (a cracked molar) and Kim managed to fit me in to be seen immediately. Upon arrival, Lauren the hygienist, was very sweet with me and calmed my nerves while she did the initial X-ray to see what was going on. After a few moments, I met Dr.Botts and he advised me that I would need a complete tooth extraction because many years ago I was an idiot and didn't get a crown on a tooth I had just gotten a root canal on and then never got it looked at after the temporary filling fell out. (MAKE SURE YOU GET A CROWN AND SEE A DENTIST IMMEDIATELY!!!) After mentally preparing myself to say goodbye to this headache of a shallow corpus, I was told I would need a dental bone graft. That's when I began to have a panic attack, because I had NO clue what it was and it just sounded terrifying. Dr.Botts eased my worries by explaining that it is a necessity for a future successful implant procedure. However he wasn't able to extract the tooth that day due to an infection. I was prescribed antibiotics and pain meds to help alleviate the pain from the infection and was told to come back later that week. I came in on Thursday to get the tooth pulled and get the bone graft done. I was a NERVOUS WRECK. The tech that administered my novocain was VERY sweet and I barely felt the needle at all. Which was my main concern. After I was numbed out pretty well, the doctor and his tech came in (can't remember her name to save my life, sorry!) and were very nice, reassuring and gentle with me while removing my tooth. Dr.Botts even managed to fit a couple of jokes in there and they were top notch. They are professionals at understanding what you're trying to say whilst having a plastic block holding your jaw open. That impressed me a lot. I hardly felt anything at all the entire procedure and I couldn't be anymore thankful for that. I have to return in about 1 more week to get my sutures removed and then a few months later to begin the implant process but I am beyond glad I came to Botts Dental Spa because this was by far the best dental experience I've ever had. Definitely great atmosphere, calming environment, very nice and knowledgeable people that genuinely care about the well being of their patients and their comfort. The office also has very fair pricing. Cheaper isn't always better, especially when it comes to your health. Last piece of advice, ALWAYS GET A CROWN ON YOUR ROOT CANALS OTHERWISE A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS TURNS INTO A FEW THOUSAND. ALWAYS. ALWAYS. ALWAYS. Don't be like me. Only downfall is they wouldn't let me keep the laughing gas tank and take it home with me. Speaking of, that nitrous oxide is worth every penny. Get it! read more

I had a root canal about 2 weeks ago. this past tuesday afternoon, i went back to Botts to have my permanent cap put in. the dental assistant began working on my cap so it would fit perfectly in my mouth. moments later she said she wanted to show me the cap, so she began walking over to the table beside my chair, and freaked out. she lost my tooth. her and other girls in the office started rummaging through everything, checking on the floor, in drawers, cabinets, basically anywhere. then they came into the room instructing me to check all over me. in my jacket, in my pockets, all around. so i did! and came up with nothing. i'm not sure why, but i got the feeling they thought i took the tooth that i paid for, for them to put in my mouth! i was sent home with the temporary cap in my mouth, and 0 answers. i called yesterday morning to check and see if they could tell me anything, and the girl got an attitude with me, seeming to make it my fault they lost my tooth! if i didn't already pay them for this service, i would not be going back there! terrible customer service, very rude! i understand things happen, believe me i do! but don't take your emotions out on the patient who took off work to be here. it isn't easy for me to take off work either. they couldn't even give me an estimated date of when i could come back and get the tooth put in. i've heard such wonderful things about this place, but now i am just so incredibly disappointed. read more

I've been going to Botts Dental Spa for about 3 years now and every time I go, I get an experience that surpasses other dental offices. Paige is usually checking me in and makes me feel welcomed from the door. Laura usually is my dental hygienist and she is always warm and happy and makes sure i get warm rinse water without asking! Dr. Botts is really nice and detailed and his teeth are one to model (who wants a dentist with bad teeth themselves, right?). The office atmosphere mimics a real spa and they have early and late appointments so i can come right in after a long night shift that morning or before i head into work that evening. Paige and all the other ladies were very friendly and helpful they were able to work me in when I had a tooth ache. I love the spa feel of the place very relaxing..and that really helps calm the nerves while waiting to have dental work done. Spent about 3.5 hours here today. After enduring terrible dental care in the Army, I have been terrified to visit a dentist since. The hygienist was with me throughout everything and her care was wonderful as was the office staff. Dr. Botts was in and out (as I would expect from any practice with only one dentist), but I never felt pain and I left feeling much better. I am sure I will need more work, but nothing they can't handle. I am sending my husband and switching my kids from a very good pediatric dentist so that all of our care is at Bott's. They got me in quick and, when another patient didn't show, took care of another tooth for me. Pricing is very reasonable for the outstanding environment and quality of staff. Don't hesitate to make an appointment with Bott's. As Dr. Botts said, he's a tooth artist even though he can't draw, and his work shows it. read more

My mother visited this dental office due to a problem she was having with one of her front teeth. The dentist performed a root canal on the tooth on 9/6/2016. A few months later the tooth broke and the remaining part of the tooth had to be extracted. We started the process of making numerous visits to Memphis to obtain a partial. We finally recieived a call that the partial was ready. We travel to Memphis and Dr. Botts removes the partial and guess the front tooth is not on the partial. Instead of apologizing and offering to reach some type of agreement to remedy the situation which was clearly their fault. They decided to take the partial back to the dental lab and basically place a tooth on the partial within a hour. The partial is so horrible that I would not put it in a horse's mouth. My mother can not even wear it. I asked Dr. Botts what did he plan to do about it he simply shrugged his shoulders and gave us some type of certificate to the dental lab. The office never called. I contacted the office after my mother's visit on Friday because I thought such an "amazing" and highly rated dental practice would at least apologize. The office worker had ever excuse in he world, but someone should have examined the partial prior to calling my mother. I would have never allowed my patient to walk out my office with a partial that looked that horrible. The stress he put my mother through is unforgivable. I would not recommend Dr. Botts.
