We took a quick look through, and we saw a few things we might end up trying like the truffle raviolis and frozen pizzas of various flavors. Their prices were a bit steep for me like $15-20 for frozen pasta is crazy to me (I'm a simple Walmart gal, $5 value packs plz). So if I'm splurging, it should be amazeballs. In the end we just got 2 ice cream Mochis: salted caramel and litchi. My husband LOVED the litchi gobbling it down frozen and all in 2 bites. I had a nibble and most of the salted caramel. And it's alright... to be honest I just have high expectations because I love Mochi so much and have been spoiled by having fugetsu-do for so much of my life. The Mochi is very thin, and we probably should have let it thaw more. The flavor of litchi was nice, fragrant, flowery. The salted caramel left me scratching my head like why is there the flavor of big red cinnamon gum?? We'll eventually try the frozen merch but for now it's a cute lil shop and we're amazed and glad it's survived this covidpocalypse. Service is friendly, and they take covid seriously with asking ppl to use sanitizer and to wait for less ppl to be in the store at a time. All in all... to be continued!

They carry all sorts of IMPORTED frozen goods, from spendy wagyu beef to pillowy mushroom gnocchi to wonderful ice cream (try the salted caramel with a drizzle of raspberry coulis!!!). They don't only do dinners, no; you can also get frozen croissants (or baguettes) that bake up verrry nicely in the oven. You want points with your sweetie, because fresh baked croissants for breakfast is how you make points with your sweetie! Staff are consistently friendly albeit it sometimes shy about speaking English.

Be advised, a large coffee to go was dinky compared to standards I'm used to, (see pic,) especially compared to the sizable bowl serving when dining in (see pic). My favorite pastry so far is the scrumptious, sublime Passion Dulce - a shortbread cookie, topped with sponge cake, garnished with a combination passionfruit, banana, mango purée, coated with a fruit icing flavored similar to the purée, then decorated with cream of Dulcey chocolate and roasted sesame seeds. Wow! Had also a taste of my friend's fruit cheesecake. Nice! Also, when picking up for breakfast, explored a savory pastry Pâté Lorrain filled with assorted meats. While tasty and may be traditionally prepared, the filling had a little too much fat for my taste, noticeable even when warmed up. The staff was friendly, although (a very minor issue) on one occasion the lady behind the counter who said she personally will get us our coffee was not the one who made it in the end, also delayed with a bottleneck at the machines. That being said, I'd definitely recommend stopping by a Première Moisson for a bite or picking up something baked.

The maple flavor wasn't strong but you really got a hit of bacon, I was able to see the bacon as I was eating so they don't skimp!

One thing seriously lacking, though, are options for awesome sandwiches. Charcuteries Viens just opened a few days ago. Their offering is pretty limited: hand made cold cuts such as porchetta, ham and dry-cured sausages, as well as a few choices of sandwiches made on order which you'll take to go, as they're not expecting you to eat there. I tried their ham sandwich featuring their handcrafted ham (prosciutto cotto style with a nice fat cap), a few slides of Comtomme cheese by La Station de Compton, pickles and mustard. At $10 for two small sandwiches, it's a pretty good value. And it's pretty good tasting, too! What's lacking is perhaps a choice of one or two side salads for a more complete meal. No need for something fancy, a tangy red cabbage slaw, or a sweet beet salad would work beautifully. It may very well become one of my regular spots in the area to grab lunch!

Luckily for us, there's already a wealth of charcuterie in the Plateau, so the more the merrier, no? Mr. Phillip Viens comes from a pedigree of working with DNA, Maison Publique, and supplying charcuterie for Toqué and other restos, so I was really looking forward to trying their fare. When I first arrived, there was a photographer shooting a big chunk of porchetta at the front window. I'M IN THE RIGHT PLACE. They won't offer the full service in terms of meats, instead specializing in strictly charcuterie. I picked up a chorizo, fennel saucisson, some fresh pork sausages, and a bit of head cheese/sopressata. The best word I could use to describe their meats is restraint. When asked what was in their fresh pork sausages, they replied, pork, seasonings. "We really want the quality of our pork to shine." And shine it does, with just enough to accompany it in terms of salt et al. I think it might not be to everyone's taste, but it's still delicious. Personally, I prefer the saucisson from Lawrence and Champfleuri, but it's still excellent. The chorizo has a nice, deep smokey heat, but more from paprika than any chili (was there any chili?). Generally, the meats here are not salted as liberally as the others, both old (Fairmount, Vito, Champfleuri, Maison du Rotî) or new (Lawrence), which I prefer in the fresh stuff. I'll be sure to be back to try their porchetta and terrines.
