For the past two years no one ate the spinach. This year it was decent. The Potatoes au Gratin are always good. They need to have bigger portions of the potatoes. The highlight is always the custard as it is the only item everyone likes. Our table setup person couldn't count. It took 3 requests to have the right number of water glasses. She still shorted us a dessert. Our actual server did a great job. They need to do a better job of serving people hot food. No one likes their entree cold. Skip the beef - you cannot seem to get it right for a luncheon. The location is great and the event space very nice. But I wouldn't book here if it was up to me. We paid $125 for this lunch and never eat most of it. Always hungry afterwards. Alcohol is an additional cost.

Just this evening, my partner and I attempted to return home after a long gig day. However, our attempts were thwarted when driving down our street and we encountered cones at the intersection of Clouet and Dauphine. Seeing there was a crowd down the block, we rerouted and attempted to access our home via Royal and Louisa, but were stopped by a man with a white van who had blocked off the street. We convinced the man to move his van, stating we're residents of the block and needed to park and access our home. After encountering a line of city trashcans blocking Royal Street halfway down the block between Louisa and Clouet, we were able to safely navigate through a parting crowd, eventually making a left onto Clouet. IF the Tigerman Den had alerted residents who lived in close proximity to their venue of events and (unauthorized) street closures, this review may not have appeared on The Tigermen Yelp page. However, this is not the only infraction committed by the venue. Within the recent years, the Den has allowed cars to park too close to the intersection of Royal and Clouet streets, thus obstructing the view of both drivers and pedestrians. Our neighbors have contacted the Den via Instagram to alert the to the safety hazard presented with no avail. Having permits and official public safety personnel onsite for events like the one tonight are imperative to ensure the safety of attendees and residents. The Den ought to consider pursuing these legitimacies for future events.

Matthew and Phinnie were so incredibly helpful not just day-of but throughout the entire planning process. They even helped us coordinate having our ceremony at the cute Clouet Gardens directly across the street. The space was perfect for our size wedding (about 80 people) and they provided almost everything (tables, chairs, water coolers, bar carts, etc.) and had a full kitchen we were able to use. Matthew had sent us a blueprint of the Den as well as an inventory list ahead of time which was extremely helpful when figuring out exactly what else we needed and where everything should go. It also allowed us to keep our costs down. That being said, we were also very thankful they let us stock our own bar and did not require us to use their preferred caterer like most venues do. We were able to have the kegs on the back porch, the bar stocked with our favorite spirits and the pizza stacked ceiling high - just like we had hoped! Other things we were very happy with was the amount of street parking around this area. My dad was worried about this in particular and thought we would need to hire valet but we decided not to and we had no trouble whatsoever. Also because the venue is so charming, we didn't have to do very much decorating; again, keeping the costs down. They allowed us to hire an attendant (who kept the bathrooms stocked and picked up after guests, keeping the area clean throughout the night) and a bartender through them which was very convenient. We were glad they had SONOS speakers throughout the venue, as well as on the back porch, since we worked hard on our reception playlist and was able to play it off our iPad without having to source a PA system. It goes without saying that I would high recommend the Tigermen Den for any event - big or small!

The price included an open buffet, open bar and controlled balcony access. Unfortunately, we had to leave early after being physically threatened by two, very intoxicated, 22year old white males. My wife had not had a single alcoholic beverage and at this point I had only consumed two beers. We were simply trying to navigate the balcony to the corner area that was empty. One of the men was sitting on top of a table with his feet resting on the balcony opposite the table which was completely blocking passage. My wife was ahead of me and when she tried to pass, the young man blocking passage just looked at her with a very blank stare. My wife is East Indian, 5'0', 96 pounds and immediately felt threated. She moved back to me and said "What should we do?". I moved past her to the man's legs and pointed to the area we were headed. He just looked at me blankly. I turned back and thought of going through the inside, but there was a LOT of traffic. I turned again and looked at him and then just pushed through with just enough force for him to drop his legs and allow passage. We went to the open area at the corner where we were heading and were immediately confronted by the young man that had been blocking passage along with his friend. Both white males. They got to within inches of me and my wife and began telling us how bad we "F'd Up" and they were about to kick both of our !@@#@. My wife was terrified. The were both VERY intoxicated and wobbling while trying to simply stand in front of us. We told them we didn't want any trouble and had simply been trying to get by. This turned into an argument and I felt like they would begin throwing punches any second. I pushed my wife behind me. There was no other people around us. It was just me, my wife and these two young/very drunk men. The Bourbon Vieux staff came and began trying to get the two young men back to the area they had been. This went on for at least five minutes as they continued very threatening language. They finally walked back over, but continued to stare at us. Not just the two white males, them and now several others. I spoke to one of the staff members that had intervened, Monica, and told her we still felt very threatened. I told her that kind of behavior and those two men didn't belong and didn't promate a safe environment. She advised me she agreed and was in the process of escalating the incident to have them removed. For the next 30-45 minutes, we moved around the Bourbon Vieux property, but always within eyesight of this group that seemed determined to either scare us or inflict physical harm. We went to the front desk staff, explained we would not feel comfortable if that group remained and requested a refund. The front desk staff told us they would take care of the situation. They then summoned the same staff member Monica and the Man that had also been previously involved that was part of security (he refused to give his name). They told us they couldn't give us a refund and the group, by law, "Could Not Be Removed". So this was a first. I don't think I've heard of a bar that was not legally allowed to remove patrons who were drunk and disorderly. Monica advised us she could not make them leave. Monica told us she could only notify the Sheriff. I looked it up online and could not find anything to verify this. If this is true, it's just crazy. If one city in the country needs bouncers, it's New Orleans. So, we left. My wife was extremely intimidated and scared. I told the man that had come with security that my wife was intimidated and afraid they were going to beat the !@##$ out of us. He smiled and said "Did they beat the !@#$ out of you?" He thought it was funny. Needless to say, we had a terrible night and felt both violated and ripped off. $400! In my opinion, this kind of customer service is criminal!

We also had our own exclusive bar and bartender who was simply amazing and offered great hospitality. We then had a chance to bid on the races, which was my first time there and the experience was so delightful. The digital screens helped to guide you through the process and made it very easy for horse race selections. I actually loved going downstairs to see the horses in the stables as they lined up to go to the track. It was so nice to see the horses, the trainers and equestrian up close and personal. I have so much fun and will definitely be back again when the season opens. I will definitely put this on my list of things to do while in New Orleans especially when the weather is so beautiful at the fairgrounds.

Horse Racing! I…read morecan't believe I e lived my entire life and never been to a horse race. Now that I've been, I can't wait to go back. I am no expert on horse racing. So take this review with a grain of salt if you are. But if you're not, you should go to a race. It is fun! On both occasions that I visited, I paid for clubhouse seats. That is absolutely necessary. In fact, despite the clubhouse seats, I watched several of the races at track side where it was free to enter on the days I went. Yes. There is betting. Yes. There are people who have a system. I am not one of them. Here's what I do, I watch the horses walk around the paddock and whichever one looks the feistiest, or has the coolest name, that's who gets my bet. I'm not really successful with this strategy but it's a blast. Races are kid friendly and mine had a great time. Come see a race. You'll have fun!
