The venue itself has great acoustics and is a classic music spot where you really get a chance to be up close with the artists. All of the staff are really friendly and accommodating, the food menu is shared with Post next door so they have great food and drink options. The music setup itself, while small, has great acoustics, an easily visible stage and easy access to the bar and bathrooms (always a plus!). Located in downtown Lyons (a wonderful mountain town with a great overall vibe), Planet Bluegrass uses its surroundings extremely well to cultivate a unique music environment. Their excellent customer service and the area's natural beauty provide a memorable site. Parking ($5) is located about a half-mile away on a farm, and the subsequent stroll to the venue on dirt trails meanders near a vibrant creek with incredible scenery. You arrive at a well-orchestrated entrance that sets the tone for a positive visit. Many food choices are scattered among food trucks and stands, and the overall layout allows for whatever you're into that night. They allow taller lawn chairs and portables in the back half of the venue, while the front is for blanket seating. The stage rocks, there were excellent acoustics on this night and continuous spectacular views. Elephant Revival is always exceptional live, and the venue added to that level of performance. I'm coming back.

The ambiance is 1/1 and you will not find anything else like it anywhere. There is just simply too much culture and history here. The drinks are all fairly priced and the service was extremely quick (they were well staffed to manage the amount of people present the night I went). Aside from the bar aspect, Dark Horse also has a kitchen that you can order food from! Everything I have tried over the years has been great, but this personally is my favorite place to order Rocky Mountain oysters! If you haven't tried them, 100% give them a shot! It was karaoke night when I went, but during the football season Dark Horse will host CU Boulder Football watch parties. Such a fun local spot, please support them and enjoy your night here! (Pro Tip: The art on the bathroom doors POINT to the Men's/Women's restrooms, so don't accidentally walk into the wrong one!)
