Highly recommended. It reminded us a bit of Marietta, Georgia. Pristinely maintained streets/sidewalks with interesting bronze statues, no shortage of eating, drinking and shopping choices. A laid-back, friendly vibe. Recommend a morning here. The Southwest is unique and the scenic drive past the exquisite mountains and terrain (chaparral) is soul-soothing.

My partner and I were in the mood to explore outside the strip since we are new to Las Vegas. We had heard some great things about this little town and we decided to go on a saturday. The town is so cute and full of history, if you have gone to the Hoover Dam then this goes right along with it. We had a chance to go to the museum in the hotel and look around the antique stores which are just the best. We had breakfast in a cafe in the downtown area and had a great time seeing the visitors come in. It was easy to get there and parking was plentiful, everyone was so nice and welcoming. I can't wait to go back and do some outdoor activities and explore some more.

Mood - something different Boulder City is filled with so much history and different activities. Even though it is only a short 30 minute drive from Vegas it is a completely different world of its own. This city was built for the workers who were brought in to help build The Hoover Dam. Back when the Dam was being constructed alcohol was prohibited within the city limits. There is a outdoor museum towards the end of Boulder Hwy in Henderson, that has some of the original houses that were built for the people of the city. This is a full functioning community filled with its own groceries, restaurants, parks, airport, the lake, hiking, and entertainment. A little known fact about Boulder City - gambling is illegal. Funny I thought. Would def recommend a little visit if you want to escape Vegas, or experience a new place. Location 95 south

Are you looking to see real trees and real grass. You know real life! Let's plan a trip here ! They have a walking down town. We park, no problem right! The parking, "it's free." You can go into a real museum and it's free too. Now the monster museum is not free. But as you wander through the streets of downtown Boulder it's worthy! No casinos! No gambling! Just the best of gambling! All the luck if the past and it's preservation! Grab that one that's special and make it's a day! The twins loved the history too. Eat and be local! It's the best be a tourist in your own town.

Really loved exploring and seeing all the bronze statues and reading about what each statue honored. Art murals and metal art gardens were plentiful too. The Historic Downtown area has darling boutique and souvenir shops, scrumptious cafes, and coffee shops. There's a small, nicely put together town museum that tells the story of the men and women who braved the desolation of the southern Nevada desert to build Hoover Dam and settle Boulder City, too. Definitely enjoyed our visit to Boulder City and highly recommend!

We have both been to Las Vegas many times, and we hadn't ever visited the Mob Museum. So we decided to visit this time. We enjoyed the experience overall and would certainly recommend it to others. When we arrived, we paid for parking and went inside to pay for the Mob Museum experience. We were prepared to walk around and read a lot of information about the mob. We were pleased to learn when we arrived that there would be a former member of the mob speaking upstairs in just a few minutes. We quickly went upstairs and found a seat. The speaker was Frank Calabrese, Jr., who worked with the FBI to bring down his crime family in Chicago. He told us his story first-hand while telling us about his book and sharing slides as he spoke. This first-hand account was a great way to kick off our visit! After the speaker, we headed up to the third floor and started looking through exhibits and worked our way floor by floor down to the first floor and eventually to the basement. On the third floor, we learned about the birth of the mob, the start of organized crime, the founding of Las Vegas, prohibition, the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, Al Capone, the FBI fighting back, how several mob leaders were taken down due to smaller violations, and how organized crime spread. On the second floor, we learned about the Kefauver Hearings, the historic courtroom that became the Mob Museum in Las Vegas, the Mob eyeing Las Vegas, skimming from the casinos, Las Vegas going straight, the Mob infiltrating the police, and the Mob's greatest hits. On the first floor, we learned about how the FBI took down the Mob (or some of them), various stories about mob leaders, organized crime today (yes, the mob still exists!), use of force by the police, and the mob in popular culture. We also visited the Global Networks Touch Wall, the gift shop, and the Underground (speakeasy in the basement). While we didn't pay the extra fee to use them, there are interactive exhibit options for a Crime Lab, Firearm Training Simulator, and Distillery Tasting. The general admission cost is $34.95 per person to access exhibits without a discount. For an extra $15, you get access to exhibits and one interactive exhibit. For $5 more than that, you get access to exhibits and two interactive exhibits. There are discounts available to Nevada residents, students, law enforcement and military. You can also get tickets before 11 AM or after 5 PM to receive $7 off admission plus 20% off coupons on the internet. The Mob Museum is typically open daily from 9 AM to 9 PM. The Underground speakeasy and distillery is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 AM to 11 PM and Friday and Saturday from 11 AM to Midnight. You should give yourself 1-3 hours to experience the museum. Definitely check out the Mob Museum at some point while you're in Las Vegas! Worth a visit!
