M is always lookin' around for new things to do in town and there are plenty of those (non-gambling non-drinking) things to do. She went ahead and bought tickets on line for the Mob Museum. We chose to go on a Tuesday, the fewer people the better for us. Parking was $8. This is right down there by the Old Downtown, Fremont, the Nugget. Fact that this building was a Courtroom and Post Office. The layout was very well done starting on the top/3rd floor with beginning of the the crooks and then the town. Each floor has its own notoriety in the time frame/ era. The displays are informative, a lot of reading. Tour guide headsets are available too, we found the docents were very knowledgable. I asked them if they knew where the term "86ed" came from? There are quit a few "actual items", the St Valentines Day Wall...some Tommy sub-machine guns, and other bits and bob's of stuff. I didn't see any wax figurines of the bad guys for photo op's. They did take Pic's in a Line Up setting $15-$35 depending. No actual cars or vehicles, I like the tactile stuff. I guess Bonnie & Clyde don't qualify. Certainly the Mob Hall is a fun, once is enough venue to see. We made sure to stop at the speak easy in the basement. If you're looking for a break from the soulless, manufactured attractions that can make Las Vegas feel a little over the top, the Mob Museum is the perfect answer. My friend and I were looking for something different to do, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. The museum is packed with fascinating information, and if you want to read everything, plan to spend about three hours here. We were lucky enough to catch a talk by a former mob member, which made the experience even more memorable. A special shout out to the employees throughout the museum. This was a cool museum and I'm glad we made a stop here. I actually didn't have any prior knowledge about mobs besides prominent names like Al Capone. I did feel a little bit at times that the museum might have expected you to know at least a little bit more background information before going in. I caught myself thinking "this plaque seems to think I should already know who some of these names are!" A little more context to some of the blurbs would have been nice, but then again there is already a LOT of information and many names involved. I did learn a lot of interesting history, and enjoyed the museum even without a prior interest in the subject matter. There were many parts of the museum that were fascinating, but I do think the highlight of our trip was listening to the speaker Frank Calabrese Jr. who was previously involved with the mob through his family. I feel like the trip to the museum wouldn't have been complete or as memorable without hearing his story. The speakeasy was also pretty cool, although I wished coming in from within the museum there would have been a little more "secrecy" or a password. The drinks were pretty good. If you're into museums and history, the Mob Museum is definitely a cool spot to check out while in Vegas. Located near Fremont Street, this museum dives deep into the history of organized crime and its impact on American society. My wife and I enjoy museums and learning about history, so this was right up our alley. One thing I'll say though, don't make the mistake we did and come during a busy holiday weekend like Memorial Day weekend. The place was packed. You honestly need at least 3 hours to fully enjoy and explore everything, but we felt rushed because of the heavy foot traffic and overcrowding. The exhibits were interesting and well done, but part of me wished it went a little darker or more graphic with some of the mob history. Still, overall a really solid experience and worth visiting at least once. A must-visit! I honestly believed that this place would romanticize the criminals who wore suits and demanded respect out of fear ... sort of like The Godfather or Goodfellas. But that was certainly not the case. Rather, this museum presents the facts and artifacts. I love museums that explain and display the history. Fuhgeta about it! Gangster movies are my favorite movie genre. Not sure what that says about me but hey. While I've taken several trips to Vegas, a museum has never been part of the mix. I'm happy that's finally changed. We checked out The Mob Museum on a Tuesday evening. Even though we took an Uber, they do have a complimentary parking lot adjacent to the museum. The Mob Museum is located in Fremont (the old strip) and looks like The Federal Reserve Building from the outside. There's a lot to love about The Mob Museum. First, it's open much later than a museum typically is e.g. 5 p.m. We're talking 9 p.m. here. For someone who's a night owl, I love the flexibility. There's also discounted admission after a certain hour, I think it may be 6 p.m. Check their website to be sure. Now to the museum itself. They recommend that you start on the third floor and make your way down. You're given a map which mentions some of the highlights on each level. Talk about a top-notch museum. There's a ton of information to consume. The Mob Museum highlights the history of the mob in the U.S. You learn about some of the most notorious gangsters. Some of the biggest events over the years. The Prohibition Era. The mob portrayed in movies and TV shows. There's a lot to read, there are video clips, and there are various pieces like guns, pictures, and much, much more. I'm the type that likes to read everything at a museum. To get through all three floors, I had to rush to get through it in three hours before close. So make sure you allocate your time accordingly if you're like me. They also have an awesome gift shop. It's not cheap, but they have a lot of cool things there. Many inspired by famous movies like Scarface, The Godfather, Casino, etc. and TV shows like The Sopranos and Breaking Bad. If that wasn't enough, they have a speakeasy in the basement. It's open until 11 p.m. Naturally, we had to stop by. While there cocktail menu was interesting, I went with the moonshine flight (which they make in hour). I wanted to get as authentic as I could with my experience. You also have the opportunity to add several add-ons to your general admission ticket. One of these is a moonshine tasting and distillery tour. Another is a forensics add-on. My friend and I recently visited Las Vegas, and when deciding what we'd do, the Mob Museum was near the top of our list. We have both been to Las Vegas many times, and we hadn't ever visited the Mob Museum. So we decided to visit this time. We enjoyed the experience overall and would certainly recommend it to others. When we arrived, we paid for parking and went inside to pay for the Mob Museum experience. We were prepared to walk around and read a lot of information about the mob. We were pleased to learn when we arrived that there would be a former member of the mob speaking upstairs in just a few minutes. We quickly went upstairs and found a seat. The speaker was Frank Calabrese, Jr., who worked with the FBI to bring down his crime family in Chicago. He told us his story first-hand while telling us about his book and sharing slides as he spoke. This first-hand account was a great way to kick off our visit! After the speaker, we headed up to the third floor and started looking through exhibits and worked our way floor by floor down to the first floor and eventually to the basement. On the third floor, we learned about the birth of the mob, the start of organized crime, the founding of Las Vegas, prohibition, the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, Al Capone, the FBI fighting back, how several mob leaders were taken down due to smaller violations, and how organized crime spread. On the second floor, we learned about the Kefauver Hearings, the historic courtroom that became the Mob Museum in Las Vegas, the Mob eyeing Las Vegas, skimming from the casinos, Las Vegas going straight, the Mob infiltrating the police, and the Mob's greatest hits. On the first floor, we learned about how the FBI took down the Mob (or some of them), various stories about mob leaders, organized crime today (yes, the mob still exists!), use of force by the police, and the mob in popular culture. We also visited the Global Networks Touch Wall, the gift shop, and the Underground (speakeasy in the basement). While we didn't pay the extra fee to use them, there are interactive exhibit options for a Crime Lab, Firearm Training Simulator, and Distillery Tasting. The general admission cost is $34.95 per person to access exhibits without a discount. For an extra $15, you get access to exhibits and one interactive exhibit. For $5 more than that, you get access to exhibits and two interactive exhibits. There are discounts available to Nevada residents, students, law enforcement and military. Very cool museum, I honestly didn't even know about it until a local referred us and it's close to the freemont district. There is so much history in this building. I really liked that you can walk through and tour at your own pace, and your ticket is good for the whole day so you can leave and come back as you please.There is also a speakeasy bar in the basement of the museum that I missed and didn't get to tour, so I'll have to check that out next time.The workers were also very helpful with answering questions and taking pictures, which I appreciated.The only downside for me was it felt a little on the pricier side, especially having to pay for parking, but that didn't stop us from going in, touring everything, and grabbing a few things from the gift shop. read more

Really unique and interesting museum about the Mob in what was a former courthouse. They have an audio self guided tour but my family opted out. They recommend you start on the 3rd floor and work your way down. I learned a lot about how the mob came to be and the different networks across America. There are several videos, the wall from the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, an old electric chair you can sit in (with sound effects), displays of Tommy guns, and docents who will talk about some of the displays. There are also some gruesome pictures of murder victims in one of the exhibits as well but you can skip them by going out a different door. If you want a snack, the 2nd floor has a coffee shop that also sells pastries. The basement houses a speakeasy bar called "The Underground" that offers distillery tastings. There's a door in the back with the sliding viewer thing like you see on TV when they ask you for the password. Haha There's a lot to see here, we spent over 2 hours here. Parking is $8. We booked a lot of things to do when in Vegas for Thanksgiving and this place ranks as one, if not the best, experiences we had. I do recommend getting there early because there is a lot to look at and the less crowded the easier it is to do. There is a big parking lot but it was full when we left a few hours later. They have a huge collection on multiple floors plus the speakeasy basement with detailed exhibits showing tons of memorabilia, photos, video, audio etc. You won't be bored! I paid additional for the audio tour, I don't think it's necessary really, I only used mine half the time. I also paid for some of the "experiences". I did the Crime Scene lab one which was a ton of fun if you are into learning about fingerprints, bullet identification and autopsies like Dexter Morgan used to do. My husband did the Firearm Training Simulator and enjoyed it. The person teaching his experience (former police) was convinced my guy was military or police, wish I was there to see that conversation! We also did the Distillery Tasting and Randy talked us through prohibition while we sipped on their made in house moonshine. I bought a bottle of their Huckleberry, so yum! Lastly, kudos to all the staff! Everyone was so kind and genuinely happy to be there. And everything was very clean. That's a huge deal for me! I would love to go back and spend another day...if there was no one else there. The history of the building and what went on in this old courthouse is just so cool. The Mob Museum is a lot of fun! It provides an overview of organized crime in the US. I thought it was nicely curated. Every employee was kind and knowledgable too. There are three floors of exhibits. Some have some graphic pictures, so it may not be appropriate for young kids or those who are squeamish. The gift shop had a lot of fun mob themed items. There's even a speakeasy in the basement with a hidden room behind a painting by the bar! The whole place is very clean and well organized. Even the restrooms were sparkling! Stopped in during the weekday, Jenny & Deanna were super friendly and we opted for the annual pass that included a moonshine tasting in their distillery basement. There are loads of photographs and rich snippets on the origin of the prohibition era and how it led to the crime bosses. The museum is three stories with a basement that has a speakeasy (pro tip, the speakeasy has a secret door with a private room which some of the guests were viewing for an event so you can ask the bartender to take a look). The moonshine tasting was informative as well as tasty since they make their own moonshine batches on the premises, they also allow you to purchase moonshine to go. Be prepared: some exhibits get pretty gory, and there's a lot about law enforcement taking down gangsters. There's nothing glorious about the violence or the killing, but you can also see the other side of it. During the Great Depression, when people were struggling just to eat, some folks romanticized the mobsters like Robin Hood figures or even treated them like celebrities. The museum does a solid job showing all of that without sugarcoating. It's a real deep dive tons of detail across multiple floors, interactive stuff, and artifacts that make it feel immersive. If you're into history at all, you'll eat this up. And yes, if it wasn't for the mob, Vegas as we know it probably wouldn't exist. That alone makes it worth visiting. My buddy was most excited about the speakeasy bar at the bottom (The Underground), and it definitely delivered. Cool Prohibition-era vibe with craft cocktails perfect way to end the visit. Overall, this was my "oddball" activity of the trip (right after hitting Bugsy's bar, of course). The way they've put it all together is really well done. If you've got a few sober(ish) hours and want something different from the usual Vegas grind, definitely check it out. AWARENESS: While in Las Vegas a few weeks ago, my friends and I decided to visit the Mob Museum since we all had heard so much about it. NARRATIVE: The Museum is located near the Fremont area of Las Vegas, inside of an old Post Office building. Once you enter the building, you'll be directed to one of three windows to pay for your admission. If you are a military member, veteran or first responder, be sure to ask about a discount. After your ticket purchase, you'll be given an armband and directed to take either the elevators or stairs to the 3rd floor to start your tour which are with narrated or do it yourself. Both have different cost. Each floor offers Mob history with pictures, story-boards, short films and one spot has an actual Mod informed who gives a long talk about his time and history in the Mob. This place was so cool!!! We bought a 2 day Go City pass and this was included with it. We came in on a Saturday afternoon. Drinks are allowed inside, but no outside alcohol. (They have a speakeasy in the basement). The museum is 3 floors and housed in an old post office/courthouse in Vegas. You start on the 3rd floor with the beginnings of the mob, beginnings of Vegas, Al Capone, etc, 2nd floor gets into mob ties with Vegas, a little JFK assassination, prison weapons, famous "hits", and live talks in the courtroom from a former mobster. 1st floor gets into the mob today. Basement houses a very large speakeasy. We spent about 2.5 hours here. So informative and interesting. I do wish they did some kind of timed admission. It was so crowded and difficult to get to the wall labels/artifacts in some rooms. I would HIGHLY recommend this museum if you are a history lover! Been to Vegas 87 times and this was my first trip to the Mob Museum. I loved it! I'm sure it's because I enjoy the subject matter so maybe not everyone will rate it five stars. But I liked the mix of stuff to see, stuff to hear, and activities to do. It's starts by walking you through all the history. The stages through the war, the migration to the United States, the growth years, and even a special segment on their impact on Vegas. You learn about things you may have heard in passing like the Valentines Day Massacre. You'll get a glimpse of our corrupt politicians. And even the former Las Vegas mayor who had a role. On my visit they had an ex mobster doing a residency. He tells it like it is with great credibility. But my favorite parts were the interactive experiences. Note, these cost additional, but I highly recommend them. We did two: forensics (like the old CSI TV show) and the police experience (where you learn to be a cop and see what they go through). I purchased the firearm simulator and the distillery tasting and I didn't regret it one bit. Both were a lot of fun! You learn a lot about the mob and Las Vegas. I found it quite interesting. You will see news clips and audio from live court trials. It actually reminded me of the movie Casino. Attending the museum was exciting and informative to say the least. The one day event was promoted as a free entry for locals. February 14th. A day that marked their 14th anniversary. On Valentines Day. And the two types of stories people enjoy most. Are mob stories made in Vegas. And a love story found in paradox. The way February 14 is matched with love & massacre. A fitting type of harmony. Just as this mob museum was previously the original courthouse of las vegas. You might call that the bittersweet justication of justice. One that applies to both sides of the natural law of human nature. Perhaps exemplified by the 14th amendment, Declaring all citizens are granted equal protection of the law. But when the 18th amendment began prohibiting peoples rights. It was the underground system that provided for the people. When the law took away the happy hour. The mob provided a place of speakeasy. A theme that continues in the recent museum event. People of reformed mobsters who are currently working policemen. Former federal agents now working in the underground speakeasy. So much fun, so much information!! Celebrated their 14th anniversary this year on February 14, 2026. Las Vegas, Nevada locals are always free on Valentine's Day. Not only in memory of the Saint Valentine massacre, but also the museum's anniversary. All of the volunteers and staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We love going here annually. So so much information so be ready to read and listen. You could spend hours in this museum and still not experience everything. So much history and the stories of the mob, the police, and the early years of Vegas are intertwined in a very approachable, informative, and entertaining manner. I do highly recommend attending when you have plenty of time to spend. We went through in about 2 hours, but we could have stayed for 8. Usually when I visit a new city I like to take in a museum or two - Vegas was no exception, and I had my choice of many since they are chock full of them. The Mob Museum stood out to me for several reasons - the great reviews, the comprehensive content displayed, and my interest in true crime. That being said, I purchased a ticket and made my way over. Formally named The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, the museum is located off-Strip a couple of blocks off the Freemont Street Experience. The museum covers three floors, starting at the top with the early history of the mob and how it took foot in the US, up to present day and its depictions in pop culture. There was a lot of detail, you could easily spend a lot of time here. Because the museum is housed in an old post office and federal courthouse, they integrate some of those aesthetics into the exhibits - including sitting in a courtroom while hearing about the case trials. As always, the museum ends with a gift shop which has a good selection of merch. Overall, I really enjoyed the Mob Museum - definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something outside the typical Vegas attractions. read more

In Vegas for a couple days and was staying in the area - was very excited to see that we were only a couple miles from the Mob Museum. I've heard that it's a great museum. I checked online the day before and saw that there was an early entry for a few dollars off if we arrived between 9 and 11 AM. We got there about 1035 and walked around the third floor, then went to the second floor to see Frank Calabrese Jr speak about his family in the Chicago mob. He was a great speaker, great story teller. The museum was very interesting, going over the history, all the different exhibits were great. This is a topic I don't know much about, but it was very interesting learning about all the connections nation and worldwide. Whether you are into movies like Casino or want to know more about this mysterious lifestyle, this is definitely a must see! Make sure you see Frank Calabrese Jr speak- he is great! read more

Very interesting experience! We also booked the moonshine tasting and the forensics lab add ons! The museum itself is great (3 stories + basement) detailing mob history, how it influenced early Vegas casinos/hotels, current organized crime, etc. They also have a speakeasy in the basement and the moonshine is a must try! It was my first time trying and it was so unique that we brought some back as souvenirs. We enjoyed the fuzz and the vanilla based moonshine. They also had a mugshot picture opportunity on the third floor that was really fun! The forensics add on was also pretty interesting and let you analyze your finger prints, play through a simulation case and try to match bullets. Overall recommend this museum and was a family favorite! read more
