Alas, I'd rather spend a day at the dog park, or the Farmer's market, or sitting at home and staring at the ceiling....seriously.

We hosted an event at the museum and highly recommend them as an event space. We had initially…read moreplanned to do the event in their outdoor space, but due to rain had to pivot to indoor. The museum worked with us last-minute to ensure we still had all the resources we needed. Ally, the event coordinator, did numerous walk-throughs with us, was there all night to ensure everything went smoothly, and worked with a great staff.

This museum continues to amaze me. Longmont is a mid-sized city that feels like a small town. In…read morethis non-Denver sized city, this museum has had exhibits showing the works of Picasso, Ansel Adams and Red Grooms! They have had an exhibit on Washi: The Japanese Culture of Paper Making. They also have an annual Day of the Dead exhibit created by community members and local artists. There is a permanent exhibit called 'Front Range Rising' which discusses the history of Longmont. You can see many of these past exhibits in a virtual tour on their website! In addition to the exhibits, there are movies, classes, performances and walking tours. The classes and movies relate in some way to the art exhibits. For example, an exhibition called 'Build: Design & Create with LEGO' was connected with the short films created by the legendary designers Charles and Ray Eames. During the Picasso exhibit you were able to take a class to learn how to create a Picasso style portrait. A recent update as of July 2025 is that the galleries will be closed until Fall 2026 while the Longmont Museum has a major expansion of its building. There will be even more galleries and a larger children's area! While the galleries will be closed they are still planning to have events in the auditorium and courtyard. They will also continue their educational programs.

In the past it was held at Harpo's Sports Grill just down the street from Avery Brewing Co. I always felt that it was way to crowded but not this year. This year it was held at the brewery, the fest was divided between two of their large storage warehouse and then connected at the rear of the building by tents, these tents also housed several food vendors. I was however a little disappointed in the showing of beers. Every year I look forward to the offerings from Cambridge Brewing and Firestone Walker, neither of them were there this year. As I know this is no fault of Avery's it still kind of bummed me out. I was very impressed with a lot of the beers but I have to say Avery brought it strong. Their beers were honestly the best beers there. Others had some amazing beers but very few were within the caliber of Avery's. As I have in the past I will continue to attend this event. There was a little problem with crowding but you are always going to have that problem at a festival. I think limiting the number of attendees to 400 per session was the greatest line of defense they could have taken.

I was shoeless with a constant supply of beers and I was dancing about like a hippy. I was very happy to welcome Dave Matthews back to the festival. I thought Weezer was awesome. And, as usual, the headliners were peppered in amongst some great up and coming bands. I am really pleased with the fact that they are holding the festival in August as opposed to July. The temperature for an all day festival was much more pleasant. Next year...Winnebago .

In fact, I had a great time! My fun time had more to do with the people I was with than the festival itself. While I don't have many complaints, the few I do make me wonder if it's worth the dinero next year. So even if you've only met me once you probably know that I don't drink beer. I'm a little Irish girl with a small tummy and a high tolerance for alcohol. Beer fills me up too fast before I even get a buzz, not to mention I don't like the taste of it. Anything else is fair game; vodka, tequila, rum, gin, Mike's, cider, absinthe, moonshine, scotch, brandy, and my favorite Jameson. So tell me why I can't bring any of this in with me when I can't find any of it inside the festival. We did end up finding 2 cocktail stands in the far corners. Even at the beer tents there was only beer offered....none of those delish girly malt beverages. WTF? I know it's a huge festival and everyone is coming for different reasons. Though I don't know why you wouldn't shut up for Tool, the real question is why can I hear you talking over them? It's not like I'm in the back and no one else is playing on another stage. It should be so loud I can't hear myself talk or think about anything besides how great the music is. Like I said, not bad for the second go round of the fest but they need to improve on these few but instrumental aspects (pun intended). Hopefully next year will be even better!

Filled with Hawaiian shirts, hula dancers, tiki's and palm trees, the Tiki Exotica Ball is an all day and night event designed to transport you back to the 40's and 50's. Inspired by the WWII era it gave you a feel of good ole American culture that your grandparents could relate to. The event is run by the 1940's Ball NFP, a non-profit which hosts events such as these to donate proceeds towards the Wounded Warriors Project and the Spirit of Flight Center Colorado. The day and night were packed with events that included hula performances, an Elvis impersonator, swimsuit contest, limbo competition, and a local performance group called Polynesian FiaFia- just to name a few. At night, Onda, an Afro-Cuban orchestra blessed our ears with jazz like music while everyone danced under the stars. All the performances were excellent, and there were many other fun things to do. You could take dip in the pool, or stroll around the vendors selling 40's and 50's style memorabilia, see the vintage car display, or purchase a tropical drink at the tiki hut. In terms of the crowd, it was so fun to see how people really went all out for this event. Outfits ranged from full out WWII sailors suits, to 40s and 50s style bathing suits, or even ball gowns. Hair styles and make-up were true to the era as well (men slicked their hair back and wore side burns, women curled their hair and painted their lips red). It was surely a sight to see. The weather was great, and after being their for a couple minutes I quickly forgot I was in Boulder, CO. This was the first year the luau was held and I think the organizers did an excellent job putting on a fun, well organized event for a great cause. Like any first time event there are slight kinks to work out for next time, but I'm sure the next Tiki Exotica Ball will be even more groovy than the last!

Was it pricey? Yes. Was it worth every penny? Also yes…read more The weather was perfect. The festival was huge! I loved the corn maze. It was huge! And the pumpkin patch was huge and the pumpkins were gorgeous. Highly recommend! And the food trucks were fantastic.

They were having a $20 sale on pumpkins-- fill up an entire wheelbarrow full. If I didn't already have all of my pumpkins, I would have done that. What a steal! Got some great food from a bbq food truck. The gift shop was fun. Staff was friendly! I guess I see people complaining about the price in the comments... but EVERYTHING is expensive these days. It is worth the spend.

I visited the Highlands Art Festival for the first time. This is one of the ten annual art shows…read moreorganized by Colorado Art Weekend. It uses the front lawn of the Highlands Masonic Temple at 3550 Federal Boulevard and in 2024 operated from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on June 8th (Sat) and 9th (Sun). The Temple's parking lot was full the two times I visited, but I was able to find street parking in the local neighborhood without too much trouble. I did have to walk a couple of blocks from my parking spots to the event. I found the show to have a lot of crafts and commercial vendors. The fine arts booths were limited. Publicity for the show was also limited. I'm on dozens of mailing lists for fine arts providers, but I only heard about the show because an artist I know invited me. The show was disorganized. Each vendor had been assiged a booth number, but those numbers were nowhere to be seen, so finding a specific booth was impossible. There was no show brochure. The complete list of vendors on the Web site was a PDF copy of a spreadsheet, listed in order of booth numbers. No Web site was shown for a large number of the exhibitors. The tents were not laid out in even rows and tents were mostly set up facing each other with far too narrow walkways between them. I did see some interesting artists, but this mostly seemed like a disorganized mess. The artists I spoke to said business was slow. There are now a lot of art shows and art festivals around town. This is a business and it is very competitive. These guys need to do better.
