Went there and ordered a few things. Cheese curds were tasty, burger and fries were really good, ordered a kale quinoa salad... not much kale, dressing tasted like squeezed lemon, possibly a tablespoon of quinoa, 3 slices dried out chicken and 3 slices of avacado. Slow service, waited forever to get a waitress. And she was rarely around to ask for anything, she never refilled our drinks. When our food came our fries were cold but again, no waitress to ask for new ones. Food was just mediocre. And I know it's just my opinion, but I don't like seeing cage fighting while I am eating dinner with my daughters. read more

Had a group of 7 and we called before to get our name on the list. They told us over the phone the wait would be 15-30 minutes. After 45 mins of sitting there watching group after group be seated before us we asked when we would be seated and they told us it would probably be another 20 minutes. After that 20 minutes we were seated at a 6 person table with a 7th seat squeezed in. Almost immediately after being seated the waitress came out and apologized for the wait and then about a minute after that the owner came out and told us he would comp whatever appetizers we wanted. We ordered and our food came out within 10 minutes. The food was excellent and the cheese curds were about the best I've ever had. Although the wait was lengthy (and not properly communicated until we asked) we were all satisfied with our food and the owner seemed sincere in his apologies as it was a busy night. read more

Great burgers and their tap house potatoes with their sauce is amazing. The staff there is always friendly and helpful. Good selection of appetizers, drinks, burgers, and more. The prices can be high but I always feel that I get what I'm paying for. read more

No complaints on the food, it was really good! Just don't sit in the Southwest large booth by the windows when it's cold because it's very cold. Little to no insulation by the windows? And our daughter said the bathrooms were just as cold. read more

Visited for the first time on a Sunday afternoon. Was not busy at all. The hostess, who did not ask if we had a seating preference, proceeded to take us to a small bar height table next to the bar. I asked if we could be seated at a booth, and the hostess,who seemed a little put out by this, inexplicably walked backed to her station, then came back and seated us at a booth in the back corner next to a wait station. Maybe it was because she knew our waitress would not provide us with silverware or napkins, and we would find it convenient to help ourselves to the ones at the wait station, which is what we did. So, not off to a great start here. Baffled as to why a restaurant owner would not have their most personable employees up front to greet you. Looking at the beer selections, it was a varied selection of familiar and not so familiar offerings from local and other breweries. What I found strange was that unless you looked closely, you would not have noticed that some of the draft beers were 14 oz, some were 16 oz., and some were 10 oz. Ordered one, and was never asked if I wanted another by the server, even though it was nearly gone by the time the food arrived. Came back once, ten minutes into the meal, to ask if everything was OK. So...the food. This is a place that touts their hamburgers as among the best you will ever enjoy. I ordered the one that states on the menu is their best. Flavorless beef. Extremely disappointing. Fries not bad. There are at least a half dozen restaurants in Ames, one or two of them fast food joints, with better tasting burgers at half the price. My wife ordered a fajita chicken wrap, with a chipotle ranch dressing that was so runny, it went squirting all over her. Had high hopes for this establishment, unfortunately would doubt that we will give it a second try. read more

This place has the best french fries in Ames! The burgers are great too although I recommend the grilled chicken sandwich. The service was acceptable. I will be returning for more. read more

Hi we came in here to eat we are visiting Iowa state. Very clean butwhen my dinner came they did not listen to what I had asked. I asked for no mayo and there wasn't very much chicken in the wrap it was mostly lettuce hopefully they will listen to people's orders. Also the music they were playing with a very large tv screen isn't appropriate for children. read more

Food was great. Ordered for carryout when leaving Des Moines. Asked to wait to put in order for 20 minutes. Arrived about 45 minutes after placing order. I was told that it would be out in a few minutes as they just had a large party come in. I was happy because I knew our food would be fresh and wasn't made too early. About 10 minutes later I was told that our ticket would be the next out, however I watched 7 other orders, including 2 gentlemen that arrived after I was told our order was next out, receive their meals. At this point, I had been waiting 25 minutes since paying for the meal. I asked the bartender if he could check on my order. It was then that I was told there was a problem and the manager would talk with me. While I was upset that I had waited so long (all while my car was running with my daughter who I was bringing back to ISU after break) the manager did refund my meal and gave me a coupon for my return. The food was delicious and hot. I was happy about how this was handled. I just wish they would have kept me informed about what was going on. I will return and try again. All other patrons seemed to receive the meals in a more timely manner and looked very delicious. Will update once we've returned. read more

Just went on a Sunday afternoon, seated right away and it wasn't too busy, plenty of empty tables. Waitress (middle aged) came pretty quick for drink orders and we tried to order a appetizer but couldn't get a word in before she left, happened two more times that she came to our table to drop off sugar and napkins but we couldn't get her to stop so we could order the app. She came back and we ordered our app and food, appetizer came out fairly quickly. We ordered cheese curds, they were different but pretty good. Food came out fairly timely as well. We had two burgers and two chicken sandwiches. Both the burgers and the chicken were pretty dry. However, we really liked the fries and the boulder sauce, the burger toppings were good as well. One of us didn't finish the fries and he was gonna take them home but the waitress took the plate before we could ask for a to go box and she didn't listen when we tried to stop her, I was able to get a box but had to be pretty quick to get a word in before she snagged my plate. Drinks weren't empty more than once or twice so that wasn't bad. Not sure that we would go again because of quality of our food and service, it was a pretty pricey lunch for the quality of food, but it's not the worst either. Coming from a waitress who's been serving for a few years, the service here was pretty rough. read more

My boyfriend and I have been here 4 times, the beer selection is good and the food isn't bad. I usually don't write negative reviews but each time we went back we hoped we would have much better service than the time before. Every time we've went there we have had not great service, the staff seemed unknowledgeable about the menu and 3 out if the 4 visits the staff or kitchen got our food order wrong by a long shot. With the beer menu the drinks vary by prices and glass size, they served me the wrong beer 3 times and in the wrong sized glasses (wouldn't be an issue if the glasses were bigger than what they listed but they were serving me beers in a 10oz glass that listed to be served in a 16oz glass). Normally i'd just drink it but I didn't feel up for paying for a $8 beer when I never received the kind I ordered and only got half of the amount I should've gotten. I let the waitress know and she got defensive and seemed annoyed. I never asked for the manager but she went and got the manager and the manager didn't seem very concerned that we were getting poor service. Halfway through our meal the waitress walked by and slid our check on the table without saying a word to us. To us it felt like they wanted us to leave. I've never had such poor service in my life. I still have hopes the service improves and we might try it again otherwise we plan to spend our money else where. read more
