For dinner we had the margarita pizza, gnocchi pasta, Caesar salad and a smash burger, I also had two drinks but I can't recall the names. ALL meals were tasty. Best bakery in the area! Recommend to come here early in the morning to avoid the wait. This place is very spacious and has a chill vibe. The bakery and the restaurant is separate but they are right next to each other. Their almond croissant is to die for! The croissant is crispy, nutty and buttery. In addition to my review of 2020, I am adding this review regarding the bakery next door to the cafe. The breads and pastries are as good as anywhere I've traveled. My favorite bread is Pan de Andrano. Not a particularly sweet bread, it's a dark bread laced with blueberries. This makes a great toasted buttered slice. Try It!! My favorite pastry has to be the Croissant de Almendras. This bakery has organic honey that has a uniquely distinct flavor, as any local honey should. Unfortunately I found this gem of a restaurant on my last day in Oaxaca. I had a ham and quesillo sandwich on a fresh delicious croissant which was to die for. Served with a great spicy sauce on the side. The place is actually a bakery as well so any kind of sandwich should be great. Also have pizza which many patrons were enjoying so I figure their pizza must aso be great! They serve a large selection of fresh pastries as well that look delicious. Had a fresh brownie with Mexican vanilla ice cream that was also very good. Highly recommend this restaurant as a casual doing spot. Prices are also very reasonable. read more

My friends and I went there and got three different drinks and they all tasted the same, their food options were very limited as they had ran out of everything. I don't recommend going on Monday, on Wednesdays they restock so you'll have a better chance of getting a fully stocked menu. I went on a Wednesday and had better luck. Although I have an avocado allergy and let them know and my sandwich came out with avocado. It got removed off the bill and compensated it with a free pastry. The pan de muerto with cajeta was very tasty. The service was good, the waiters are very friendly. But depends on who you get some are not as attentive. The setting is really cute. Very touristy. The hype is right, it is one of the most popular places in Oaxaca for a reason. The drinks are great and so are the food. We got a ginger ale which is as gingery as you can imagine, and a cold chai latte which was delicious. For food we got a burger and fries which were delicious and toast with jamon iberico, mushroom pate and arugula - also amazing! The service is good but nothing out of this world like other fine dining restaurants. The restaurant is beautiful and mostly outside so be aware as it can get quite hot if this sun is on you. They are strict with menu times, so don't plan on ordering breakfast after 1/1:15pm when the lunch menu starts. First I had the egg croissant sandwich was amazing. Fresh orange juice & high quality coffee from a barista that is working in the shop. My husband had one of their more well known dishes that is eggs & spices with bread. Almost there ordered it. We also got two pastries which were out of this world. We loved our meals. For dinner we shared the 3 cheese pizza and the salad that comes with fruit & nuts. Such a nice pairing together! Also ordered a bottle of wine which was interesting- I've never had wine like that. I still prefer Argentina hot chocolate more - it was more dense and probably just melted chocolate bar with hot Milk. I want to give Boulenc 6 stars??? Our whole group of nine people loved it so much we went back for three straight days! Maybe we missed out on some other good breakfast spots in Oaxaca but Boulenc was so dang good that we couldn't resist! The cafe is to the right of the bakery (if you're facing the building) and has a super cool vibe and ambience. I ordered the moka frio which has a hint of chocolate and is really excellent coffee and not sweet at all, which I really loved! The orange juice was freshly squeezed, and all the food that we ordered was super good. I especially loved the shakshuka, which is possible the best brunch egg dish I've ever ordered, and prices are so incredibly reasonable compared to the states (I think about US$4??). The second time we were there my husband and I were going to share an avocado toast (very simple but very good) and a shakshuka, but as soon as the food came out we knew that we had to order a second shakshuka haha. As an African American man traveling abroad, its been tough trying to find places that are more upscale in MX, but also not filled with "pretentious" people. I would say that it didn't feel welcoming in the sit down area inside either. I eventually ordered and jamon y quesillo to go. Perfect for European tourists to feel like they got an authentic Oaxacan Experience while at the same time its the same pastries and baguettes they could get back home. The bakery staff next door are nice. I just suspect Bernardo (who seems to be a "white mexican") isn't used to ppl darker than him who have more money than him and might I say he is probably racist. What a wonderful surprise Boulenc is! I'm from San Francisco and I've been traveling in Mexico for four months. It's hard to please this spoiled American girl but I am in heaven every time I come here. There is often a wait for breakfast or brunch but it's worth it. I've been here four times now and I love the service, the atmosphere and the food! The Rueben was comparable to the famous West Marin Rueben. The Bahn Mi while not traditional had amazing flavors and filled my craving with crisp and light baguette. I also went next-door to the bakery and bought a baguette because.
