Before I came here in 2020, I visited every Medicaid/Social Security funded facility in the 5 boroughs. NOTHING comes close to this! I am fully funded. I have a large studio (have a computer, printer, full size piano, guitar + accessories, dinette table, 2 easy chairs near my TV, and a few other and sundry things). Full kitchenette and my bathroom is bigger than the one I had in my old apartment! Biggest thing, though, it's really like a family. Just about everyone knows everyone else. You kind of fall in with people somehow after awhile who end up being close friends. Diversity? Unreal. There are Jews, African-Americans, Latinos, Italians, I kind of lose track. And there are some religious services on site. There is a birthday party here every month for everyone whose birthday is during that month. There's a singer/guitarist with a sound system that plays all the music we love - 50's, 60s, 70s - and those of us who can dance, dance - a lot. On holidays we have a barbeque (on the great back patio in good weather, the dining room in bad). There's a DJ. Dancing, entertainment, (even some evenings) and very many activities for people at every level of age and disability. We do have a front desk person who's retiring shortly, to all our relief. And then there's the food. NOPLACE like this has good food. This is on a par with that. I do get my own and I'm not alone. Then again, I'm very health-conscious so my diet is specialized. But I go to the dining room and have a drink or tea just to socialize. We have a kind of banking service for people to store cash they'll need during a month. It's open weekdays. I have a better life here than I had in the previous 20 years at home. The staff treats you as you treat them. They are some of my favorite people. They know everyone by first names and our physical situations (approximately 225 residents currently, I think). All housekeeping is done by aides, including bed-making and garbage dumping. They also do your laundry and you can supply your own detergent and stuff if you want to. For the most part, even the aides are very helpful. They do have their regular assignments, but if you need something and they see it - no matter where it is - they're right there. And they respect what you need as well as as much privacy as your condition permits. There is a doctor here Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoon and a PA Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. A podiatrist and optomotrist come in, there's physical therapy and a beauty salon and fitness classes and extra equipment on the premises. A psychologist comes in on Fridays to help anyone who needs to speak to him. They even take you to medical appointments and bring you back in an ambulette - no charge to the resident. There's a home care agency (private and separate but very reasonably priced) for those people who need a private aide or if someone needs an aide to accompany them for a medical procedure. Back in February, without any experience in Assisted Living facilities (& all the different designations), I began the process of looking in Westchester, Putnam, and Queens, NY before bringing my Aunt (early 90's) to any of them. Given our needs (ALP/Medicaid funded) and my extensive research along what my Aunt's "MustHave's, BOULEVARD ALP was the only one that fit all the requirements.  We visited and I was now going to get things in order and submit the Community Medicaid application and move forward.  That was back in February right before the Covid Lock-down. So she had to remain alone - which was not comfortable, but what was my choice, not living in the area and staying with her Sister. Living Alone independently for so many years in a walk-up apartment, no friends in the area, complete isolation, with only meals on wheels and when I was able to visit.  I was waiting until it was safe enough to submit an application.  Where would be the best place, in a place she knows, an apartment for 23 years all alone with all her memories or Boulevard ALP? My aunt would have to decide "Yes" to trying and that she did. It has been about a month, and she is settling in. Not all the activities and people milling all about, but it is SAFE and the staff is working hard doing what they are allowed to do by CDC Guidelines. Her apartment is Beautiful.  The staff makes me comfortable with the decision. We are tweaking a few things to try and make her feel more comfortable;  she had cataract surgery (finally) last week and a couple of pieces of furniture of her own will replace what the building supplies. The staff is always responsive to my emails and questions. I don't anticipate any changes to that.  As we move into November, I see us being happy with the decision made. As I told my Admission person, we have a very small family and basically no "Village", and that now, I see Boulevard ALP as part of Our Village. read more

My Mom is extremely fortunate to be a resident of The Boulevard for nearly six years. It was the best decision we had made in 2014 locating this facility and selecting it as her new home. Following her move to the Boulevard, it was like a weight was lifted off of my shoulders. No more worrying about her living alone and fending for herself. It was the smartest move we ever made. From the moment we toured the facility and met the incredible administrative staff, we felt so welcome. The application process was quite simple and all that followed went very smoothly alleviating any fears and apprehension on our part. All the workers from the aides to the kitchen staff embraced my Mom and made her feel a part of the family. The last couple of months has been quite of an ordeal for all New Yorkers. The pandemic has affected all of our lives. But the leadership at the Boulevard took charge from day one and swiftly and decisively went into action. They imposed the lockdown and took every feasible precaution to insure the safety and well being of the residents and staff...I applaud them wholeheartedly! Not being able to see my Mom for nearly three months has been a challenge for both of us. However, the encouragement and positive work of the staff has calmed her tremendously helping her understand the gravity of the situation. I thank them all from the bottom of my heart!! Boulevard Alp saved my life. 5 years ago my mom was living by herself in her apartment in Queens My dad died 5 years prior and my mom seemed to be managing well. But gradually I began seeing signs of poor judgement and memory loss. I was so afraid to leave her alone and hired private help to stay with her while constantly running over to check on her. I was working in Brooklyn, living on Long Island and driving to Queens. I didn't know how much longer I could keep up with managing my moms well being while also working full time and taking care of my own family. Then friends told me about the Boulevard ALP. As soon as I saw the place and met the staff I knew this was the answer I was looking for. The residence is beautiful The entrance reminds me of a beautiful European hotel It is very well maintained and spic and span clean Each resident has the option of having their own spacious studio and the staff from top to bottom are all so warm,friendly and professional. It took a little while for my mom to adjust but within a few short weeks she made friends and after 2 years she befriended a new resident who has become her partner. Needless to say my mom is so happy living at the Boulevard and I am so grateful to have found this amazing place read more

This is a good place. My father lives there since last August. He doesn't walk far due to stroke happened in last year April. I feel the place is safe and very supports for my Dad. When he did not feel well, the doctor would take him and be evaluated in the facility. Couple times my Dad needed to stay in hospital, when he was discharged from hospital back to the facility, nurses followed up well for my Dad. They do care his health condition. And if necessary, he would always be referred to the doctor. I love this place since Day 1 discovering this wonderland. Staff members are always helpful. From the front desk, medicine Drector, physical therapy Director, admission manager, marketing associate, accounting manger, medicine supporting staffs, floor aides, facility care director, the nurses and the doctor. They all are amazing. My Dad doesn't speak much English and he has no problem living there because the team do well for residents. My sister has been a resident of Boulevard for over a year. She is a difficult case and I thank every staff worker there for their patience in dealing with her and teaching her to be a better person. The aide and housekeeper are very kind to her and look after her needs. Elinor, the administrator, has the patience of a saint. Luba, the person in charge of finances, is very helpful and knowledgeable. Niecy at the front desk is friendly and helpful. And Lisa, the case worker, is a wonder. She is always there to listen and try to help with any and all problems. She has worked miracles working with my sister. My sister has special needs but she is thriving there as never before, thanks to all the friendly, helpful, caring people working there. The building is very clean and pleasant, the apartments are comfortable, and the monthly calendar of events is full of fun activities. I highly recommend this assisted living. read more

My mother moved into the Boulevard ALP 2 months ago and we are very happy with it. They treat her with respect and dignity. They are caring and try very hard to be helpful. They give her meals and medication on time. They make sure that she gets medication refills on time. They shower her 3 times a week or more frequently if she wishes. They clean her apartment regularly. There is an excellent doctor on site and she just walks into the waiting room and requests an appointment when she wants to see him. They have PT and OT on site. When she needs to see a specialist outside of the Boulevard, they help arrange transportation. We are very pleased with the Boulevard because my mother is happy there and it has taken a huge burden off of our shoulders in caring for her constantly. I highly recommend it! read more

My mother has been in the Boulevard Assisted Living following a stroke. The care that she gets is wonderful. Great food, conscientious aids and administration and good medical care/staff. She was there prior to the pandemic and during the pandemic. The measures that they have been and continue to take has kept her safe from Covid 19. The communication between the staff and family members during this crisis has kept us informed during the shelter in place order. Everyone has been tested and they are slowly getting back to a "new normal". I frequently had wondered if she would be better off with me or at the Boulevard during the pandemic. I decided to keep her there keeping my eyes open and I am glad that I did. read more

It has been my sincere pleasure to relocate my mother to this incredible facility. The place is very clean, the staff is very caring and the food is great. My mother is not easily pleased and after just one week, she looked at me and said, "This place is really very nice". That was all that I had to hear. The staff at the Boulevard are professional and caring and very sensitive to the needs of the residents. The accommodations are kept clean and the meals are excellent (unless you're a gourmet chef). Particularly at this difficult viral time, they have taken the utmost protections to safeguard both residents and staff. My sister-in-law recently moved into Boulevard ALP from another Medicaid-funded assisted living facility in the Bronx. This is far nicer in every way! She has a spacious, clean, studio apartment, in which everything has been updated. She is receiving excellent personal care, and her life has improved immeasurably since moving there. My mom was at Boulevard ALP from 2014 until a few months ago. From Lisa Steinberg, Case Manager, to Camille, the aide on my mom's floor, the care and concern for my mom's well-being couldn't be better. The care and concern demonstrated by Boulevard staff during the corona crisis has been extraordinarily. My mother who has been there for a number of years and has always felt she is treated with the utmost respect, sensitivity and love.
