I can't believe I'm the first to review B & T Towing. Well, allow me to say I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE!
If Yelp allowed me to give Boulevard and Trumbull Towing negative stars I would.
This is an evil, evil establishment and heaven help you if they get a hold of your car because they will put the screws to you anyway they can. I have had the misfortune of having 3 cars towed by Boulevard and Trumbull and each time I felt like I was being tortured in a Kafka novel. One time I was in there for 20 minutes, and all 4 of the other victims ended up yelling and arguing with the sad drones sitting behind the bulletproof glass that guards the garbage bags full of money that B & T Towing takes from the drivers of the Motor City. I didn't lose my cool though. All you can do is accept the exploitation. If it seems like they're screwing you and you threaten to contact the police they will gladly summon a cop wearing mirrored shades from the back. He will let a cigar with a hundred dollar bill, laugh in your face and tell you to f*** yourself and come back with more money. Seriously, B and T has every damn towing contract in the city. When I worked midnight shift doing security for an office building downtown, B and T would tow cars belonging to patrons of a nightclub down the street. I never, ever saw them tow just one car. Every time they hauled away 2. And when I went to the Detroit Grand Prix on Belle Isle in 2007 B and T even hauled away the wrecked race cars!
The last time I had a vehicle towed by B and T, I took a cab to the Vinewood location, which was the only one I knew of. I took a cab there, because, imagine this, i didn't have a vehicle to drive. Upon getting there I was informed that my car was at their other car jail. And the documents I had to show to get it out were in the glovebox. And I couldn't pay at the other spot. I had to go there, retrieve the documents, bring them back to Vinewood, pay B and T the fee for their sodomy, then return to the secondary location to retrieve the car. Are you feeling the Kafka vibe yet? I asked the woman behind the counter if I would be given a second map to a third location when I got there. She told me no, but I half expected to find the Mad Hatter there telling me I had to crawl into a tree or something if I ever wanted to see that damn car again.
No way was I doing this by taxi. Not even if I could have afforded it right then. I had to call for a ride and put my friend through a pain in the ass errand. (Thanks, Bob.)
They will also write your impound number and the date really big across your windshield in washable oil chalk. And by washable I mean barely washable because it seems as though they sadistically apply as much force as possible while defacing your car in order to make it an ordeal to wash it away. The last vestiges especially seem to cling to the windshield stubbornly holding on for their dear lives. If they could get away with painting these marks of shame across your entire vehicle with spraypaint they surely would.
These days I ride a bike. I won't describe it here since they probably want to take that hostage, too.
Summing up, if your ride gets kidnapped by B & T make sure every last little thing is legal and up to date. Dot your i's and cross your t's. And bring the patience of a Saint. You'll need it. read more
