The food was delicious and wait staff are very friendly and check on you throughout the meal. They were also very welcoming towards Americans. 100% recommend to everyone!

The portion here was huge. 1 dish was enough for 2 people. This place was popular on Yelp so we came by to try it out. Also, we need to use washroom pretty badly. In German, there is no free washroom and it was dinner time, so we figure we gave this place a try. Yelp has a mixed of reviews, overall, I found this place not bad. There were a lot of tourists, but I don't think it was a tourist trap. We order the Pork Eisbein, and it came with 2 pork knuckles, so it was enough for 2 of us. I think was it was around 13 euro. It is good the restaurants in Europe do not charge tax and tip. The waitress was friendly and spoke Enligsh. Fun story: We arrived around 5 and this place was empty. However, as soon as our dish came, an elderly tourist group came in and filled up the entire restaurant. Then the waitress was running around and tried to take everyone's order. I like the taste of Pork Eisbein. I could taste it was cooked for a very long time, so it was soft and kinda melt in my mouth. I would recommend this place if you want to try some German food. Order 1 dish for 2 people if you don't have a big appetite.

We had a delightful lunch here on our first day in Berlin! Of course, we found it through Yelp! It was a rainy day, but it was cozy inside. We sat at a small table by the window with natural light. Our server was very nice and spoke English. We naturally had to order local beers and enjoyed them very much! Hubby ordered the liver and onions, while I ordered sautéed pork cutlets that came with boiled potatoes and a nice salad garnish. It was a perfect meal leading up to the Berlin Marathon!

Once again, Yelp did not let us down! I did not see the inside so I cannot speak to that but the patio area was lovely, comfortable and a great spot for people watching! Our wait staff was good (plan for a little slower pace then we have in the US) and everything was handled smoothly. If you need an English menu they have them. The food was great! Traditional German - large hardy portions. No dieting! The food is heavy and I'm sure it has a million calories but oh so worth it! (I had mushrooms in cream sauce with potatoes and my mom had sptezla - yum!)

Just had the Duck Gudrun wing red cabbage and wife had wiener Schnitzel with German potato salad: as they say the German, lexked (yummy). And the portions are huge. We gave half of my wife's dinner to a very appreciate homeless person. And very affordable too. You must try it if in Berlin.

I thought the best liver I could find in the world was in Jerusalem. I wrote about it already. It was really delicious.i was enchanted with the potatoes, soft, squishy, tasty. The waitress was not really nice. Actually, when we asked her recommendations, she looked at us and said: "I don't know what you like". Anyways, is Germany. We do not spect to find amazing/smilie people everywhere we go.

Last night's dinner was delicious perfection! The service was friendly and welcoming. We will be letting the desk staff at our hotel know that it is a lovely place to recommend to their guests and just a short walk over the Spree river.

After visiting Museum Island to see the Pergamon, Altes and Bode Museums in the windy freezing rain, my ladies agreed to give German food one more try (we have been in Munich & Berlin for over a week and tried few German meals and we were less than impressed). Thank goodness they did! We had one of the most delicious meals during this trip and probably one of the most delicious dishes I have ever had! All I can say is the food at this little German restaurant is just AMAZING and it TOTALLY changed my impression of German food. The solid boiled ham hock and Fried veal liver with fried apple were unbelievable. The meat just fall righ off the bone without any effort. You MUST try it if you are visiting Berlin or you will be missing out. BTW the staff are very friendly and price is very fair. Absolutely a 5+ Star establishment! Highly recommended!

Small local restaurant. Friendly place. Limited menu if you don't eat pork or feed.

Read the review in Yelp and decided to come. We end up ordering small side dishes. Love the Potato and Zucchini fritter with smoke Salmon. The caramelized onion with Cheese and the Asparagus soup are great too! So glad that I come. Peter the waiter is so funny.

This is hands down our favorite restaurant in Berlin! The food was spectacular, and our waiter (Peter) was one of the best servers we have ever had :) Seriously, the guy was on point! Could not recommend this restaurant more, and whether you are a tourist or resident, it is well deserving of your patronage.

It's a gem. Reasonably priced German food! We shared a large salad and duck entree and both were delicious and decent amount.

After a lot of schnitzel in Munich, I was ready for a change of pace in Berlin so I searched Yelp…read morefor a steakhouse where I could get a nice ribeye and Block House showed up as a place that was highly rated as well as super close to my hotel! I came in around 6:00 and it was starting to fill up. Rather than take a table, I sat at the bar near the front which had about six or seven seats. I got a beer right away and because I'd looked at the menu online (they have an English menu on their website) I knew I wanted the rib eye master cut. The steak came with a salad, which was good (although heavy on the raw onions, luckily I wasn't kissing anyone later) as well as a baked potato and garlic bread. The master cut comes with freshly grated horseradish that really added an extra boost to the already flavorful rib eye. The steak was tender and even though rib eyes are by nature fatty, this one had the flavor without too much extra fat. I liked it a lot. I also liked the extra sour cream they provided and ate every last drop! The waiter convinced me to order some chocolate lava cake for dessert and it was also good. In the US, they usually serve cake like that with a raspberry sauce and I'm just not a fan of raspberries. However, this came with a blueberry sauce which was perfect. The best thing is that for a beer, a big bottle of sparkling water, the steak and the cake, my total bill was €43 or just under $50 and that is what I would have paid for just the steak back in NYC. The service was also very friendly...maybe they get a lot of tourists or something but it was probably the friendliest service I had in all of Germany. I'm a big fan of the Block House!

This is a stake house and it is very pricey for German restaurants. Steak prices are the same as…read morein the US at this place. In fact you might end up better in the US. However, their steak burgers and their local beef they use are amazing. Also their French onion soup on the appetizer side was very good (not the best i had in Germany). Steaks are good, but not goid enough for what you pay. This place is always busy at the Alexanderplatz due to international foot traffic. There are other lical options in the area where you can eat a good dinner for less than half. Try Schloegl nearby for outstanding local fare for under 15 Euroes with tip.

Excellent experience. We went there in a large group on a busy night and the restaurant experience…read morewas fantastic. The service from the young lady (Laura) was brilliant. She made sure was attentive to our needs. She was always there when we needed her and not when we didnt. The food was great. Steak cooked beautifully. Great restaraunt decor. The best restaraunt during my stay in Berlin

so...having left Berlin 3 years ago and with that of culinary highlights including my moms cooking…read more- my dad rose the occasion and googled where to go in order to treat the visiting daughter. good thing: daughter=super super beefeater-doesn't get the concept of vegetarian. bad thing: daughter = self declared super chef - therefore not easily being pleased especially when it comes to steak. however - my dad - smart as hell knew a Tomahawk steak would be something new and special - even for me. given that the Gold Horn is a beef club one would assume that you are only allowed there as a member. not true! just call them and reserve a table. and no- you also don't have to pay 5000 Eur just to eat there. that's a myth and herewith busted. now-I have to say expectation were high so they had already a tough start - but it seemed Gold Horn could be bothered with "good" or "excellent". they just decided to go the extra extra mile: seating: inside and outside, table nice and simple but elegantly decorated. chairs comfortable. service: extraordinary. the young student (Laura) that served us was not just a good waitress but also a passionate part of the whole Gold Horn concept and always careful to explain everything that we would be served - in both German & English. it was refreshing that an "in" location also can have kind and passionate employees as in Berlin you have to pick between "awesome food" or "nice service". also great- the sommelier (namely Miro) - who is not only enjoying his job - he is also brave enough to just put his foot down if you are about to take the wrong decision regarding a perfect desert wine (which I was about to) he'd even go as far and have you compare his choice with his. it was awesome to listen to his advise and experience and I felt in very good hands! the boss himself - came to our table to welcome us warmly to his restaurant - and made sure we got a good look at what was about to be grilled for is. the moment he realized that we really were interested he took the time to explain the concept of his beef club and how many cuts and different types of meat & beef they have. food: just awesome! the tomahawk was to the point, the side dishes (veggie, mushrooms & potatoes) where seasoned well and a perfect addition. however - given the size of the dish - avoid breakfast & lunch before you go there. the sauce - although not needed - was a port based sauce that was balanced well - not to sweet not to sour. interesting is the 3 different seasons that they offer for you (special salt, special pepper, some ready made herbal mix) - its worth experimenting with those and your beef. the dessert was a very well made creme brûlée. everything- food, wine etc in combination exceeded my expectations. I was very satisfied with the visit there and now I am hoping they will open a branch in Singapore. So B-City folks - go there enjoy a beyond superb meal! Tourists: treat yourself - you are on vacation! One tip: parking there is no good. take a cab.
