Great tattoo shop. The owner, Cody, very chill and totally cool. Shop was clean and had a great vibe! I was visiting from Florida and meeting my buddy from Durango. We wanted to get tattoos on the day of the Pearl Jam show - something to commemorate our trip, friendship, the spirit of the land and life in general. After a ton of research, and both of us having an affection for bird symbolism, we chose a version of the Thunder Bird. Knowing that the day of the show would probably be crazy, I called 3 weeks ahead to schedule a time. The artist I wanted (and hoped she would oblige and was available, fingers crossed!) was Hanna (Baptiste) Mooreman. We totally hit it off on the phone and we were set. Side note: For me, it's important to have a vibe/or connection with the tattoo artist and shop - we totally did! I sent a collage of Thunder Bird inspiration and wanted her to draw something from that. I wanted her style to come through in the drawing. Our sessions went perfect. While Hanna finished up the art, we went through the formalities of getting the paperwork complete. I went first and then my buddy. And with that, we were off to the sweet buzz of her tattoo gun. Hanna's line and dot work is awesome! We are super happy with the way it turned out. For color, I went with turquoise and my buddy went with red. See photos! She got us out in under 2.5 hours. After an awesome weekend with best friends and having that new tattoo for the Pearl Jam show, was one of the best. Thanks to Hanna and BBG for helping make that happen! By far BEST service and expertise. Joel was nice enough to fit me in last min for a quick tattoo with my father that meant the world to me. He was patient enough to deal with my indecisiveness, and didn't make me feel rushed in any way. I've had a tattoo done at Blaque Owl- and customer service was aweful they rushed me in and out with little personality or care. Joel is the only person I will ever return to and more importantly hope someone can read this and go to him. I am in customer service management and appreciate genuine service at a reasonable price. read more

I was looking for an artist to finish a side piece and was recommended to Joel by a friend. I went in to talk to him about what I wanted and together we came up with an awesome idea for a full cover up side piece. Joel took my vague ideas and made them into a real piece of art! During my 12 hours on his table I felt super comfortable and welcome. His shop is clean and the staff is super friendly (Joel and Buck rock). Bound by Glory is everything that you would want in a traditional tattoo shop. The walls are covered in flash sheets. The good stuff that you would actually want to get tattooed. There is an assortment of skulls and even rumors of a finger in a jar. This is the place for bold lines and bright colors. Every time I get tattooed at BBG, Joel works with me until we get exactly what I was looking for before we get started. I also have a couple from Rob who is also great to work with. All of the work that I have gotten there is exactly what I wanted or better. The oldest pieces are about 4 years old and are as bold and bright as they should be. read more

I saw Rob for some work on a piece I had gotten done a few years ago by a different artist, Rob took great consideration in the work he did to make my tattoo what I had wanted originally, he held great conversation and made me feel very comfortable the whole time. They charge by the piece here rather than by the hour - which makes MUCH more sense and is much more fair for everyone! I'm so excited to come back for more!! I came to Joel for a rather large cover up several years ago. I should sue him for unprofessional work, but such is life and I hope this review will speak to someone who is considering putting a permanent piece of art on their body. I told him that I wanted a traditional Japanese tattoo with black waves and showed him numerous photos. I also wanted him to enhance and clean up the one I already had which was very poorly designed. Joel came up with a great sketch, a bit larger than I had anticipated, but I trusted him as the professional and correspondingly spent the next year at his shop. The first clue was that he would literally spend hours upon hours drawing on me with a marker, which I thought was odd, but I trusted him as a professional. Once he finally got to tattooing it was obvious he was in way over his head. When he didn't know what to do, he used black in large quantities. He also blatantly ignored the fact that I wanted pink involved and instead used nothing more that the primary colors of red, blue and yellow. It wasn't until I got pretty far into the tattoo that I finally realized Joel was a shitty tattoo artist and could not admit to me that he screwed up big time. I stopped going to him and started researching laser tattoo removal and even spoke to an attorney about suing him. Lucky for him, I moved to Seattle and found an amazing and true genius tattoo artist who has spent the last two years fixing Joel's shitty work. And we talk about it on a regular basis. I would not recommend these guys to anyone who is remotely serious about getting a quality tattoo. Stay far far away. Joel should not be allowed to tattoo anyone. His work is that bad.
