It's the kind of place you instantly know you'll want to return to. This was our first time here and we were go glad we made the little trip down to Bourbon, MO! We ordered the bacon and egg panini, and it was cooked perfectly. Whatever homemade seasoned butter they use deserves special recognition--it added so much flavor and made an already great sandwich even better. Of course, the dessert case was impossible to ignore. Everything looked incredible, and choosing was no easy task. We finally settled on a pecan brownie and a sea-salt chocolate chip gooey butter cake slice. Both were fantastic, but the gooey butter cake completely stole the show. Hands-down, it was the absolute best gooey butter cake I have ever had--and I've tried many from plenty of bakers over the years. This single slice may have changed my outlook on life. They've set the bar so high that I honestly don't know how anyone else could top it. Warmed up just as the owner suggested, it was melt-in-your-mouth perfection with a tender, flaky crust and incredible flavor. Absolutely phenomenal. It's hard to describe how transformative this café is -- stepping inside felt like being transported straight into a scene from a Hallmark movie. Eclectic, warm, and inviting, it's the kind of place you instantly want to linger in. The owners are wonderfully personable and friendly, making you feel like a regular from the moment you walk in. Even the fellow patrons greeted us like old friends, adding to the small-town magic. Dogs resting at your feet, scratch-made food filling the air with mouthwatering aromas -- it's charm in the most authentic form. The zucchini muffin was so good we immediately bought four more to take home. The paninis were perfection: crisp, buttery, and dressed with herbs right on the crust. The "Three Blind Mice" grilled cheese, Avocado toast, and the PB&J were absolutely incredible. What a sweet place. I'm a worship pastor and I'm leading worship for a camp at Mihaska. The environment is so cozy and feels 'small town' (which it is) in a very special way. The staff incredibly personal and kind and we were here on a Saturday and there was live music and it was full in here. The Bourbon coffee was incredible and the sticky bun was massive and delicious. Such a beautiful cafe. Got to talk to the order, who took my order and recommended their specialty latte with bourbon syrup made in Bourbon. The house made pecan cookies were so delicious. I'm excited to try the gooey butter cake next time. I usually don't like gooey butter but theirs looked more pie-ish and not as sticky gooey dripping with butter so I think I might like it. Yelp has a limit of five stars. This place is clearly a 10! When you enter, the aesthetic is both rustic, and polished. The tables are adorned with colors that pop, from the pink Himalayan Salt in the shaker, to the crystal clear water pitcher, to the splash of green from the small plant on the table. Upon entering the restaurant, you will be greeted by Dolly, a small, gentle, well-groomed dog that escorts you to the register. The wait staff is attentive, gracious, warm and welcoming. I ordered the eggs Benedict and it was the best eggs Benedict I've ever had. if you're a fan of that dish, you have an experience until you've ordered it here. I also got a bagel with cream cheese. The cream cheese was fresh and it was covered in a drizzle of local honey also fresh :-). make sure that you try the bourbon coffee, I had it cold, and it was light and delicious; chocolate-frosty and cool. We had two brief conversations with the owner, Michelle. Michelle epitomizes top-notch customer service. She's proud of her restaurant and she told us it's history. She invited us twice to stay for live music at noon but we had to get back on the road. You can stop in and get something to go quickly, but I encourage you to take your time and soak it in. You wont regret it. This is a special place and we are sure to visit again the next time we cross the country. read more

There is nothing more I can say that hasn't already been said except that the staff and kitchen are small, and when it gets busy, you will have to wait--but who cares? You get to sit and enjoy this adorable, aesthetically pleasing spot. On a nice day, the sweet outdoor eating area is a delightful place to relax. If you're lucky, there will be live music to entertain you. I had the best quiche ever, while my husband enjoyed a huge biscuit, egg, and sausage breakfast. A big plus is being greeted by the cute-as-a-button owner (Michelle, I believe), who somehow charmed me into trying one of their homemade desserts and a large cup of their original non-alcoholic bourbon syrup coffee. I had the Scrambler (B&G+scrambled eggs). It was hearty and delicious, but I saw a plate of Saloon Style Eggs Benedict pass by and I'm trying that next time. Michelle was super accommodating to us given that we came by as she was cleaning up after closing. She not only offered to serve us a wonderful chicken salad sandwich with drinks but told us about her business. She is a proud owner of this wonderful cafe! Besides the great food and drinks the ambiance of this place was western meets elevated cafe. The Dolly themed corner by the restroom was beyond cute! Michelle exemplifies what a true hostess is by making sure we were fed and fully accommodated before we left(even though the cafe was closed!). Michelle cares not only about her business but her neighboring businesses as she made sure to give them glowing reviews, prompting us to visit the health food store next door. I had been following this adorable cafe on Facebook for awhile and was intrigued with the creative menu, which changes slightly every week. My daughter and I stopped in after church for lunch. I ordered the Farmer's Salad. It was delicious, generously sized, and so fresh. A great blend of ingredients with homemade ranch and sourdough croutons. My daughter had the Sticky Pig panini, bacon, goat cheese, and raw honey on grilled fresh sourdough. She's visited before and it's her favorite! The owner is so sweet and welcoming and you can tell she puts so much love into her cafe. Service was excellent! The inside decor is cozy, welcoming, and makes you want to stay awhile. This is NOT a cafe. It's a coffee shop. They have some food items, but don't go in thinking you'll sit down and eat a meal. It's just a coffee shop. You walk in and it's clustered. Lots of stuff everywhere. You order at the register and they bring the food to you. They have limited seating and the seating the have is shared. Like one large table and a few tables around with some bar seating. I was there with my husband, he ordered a breakfast scramble and I ordered a panini sandwich. He was served and finished with his meal before I got my sandwich. Their food service is not very organized. The sandwich was good but nothing special. The coffee is very good. Knowing it's just a coffee shop I would go back for the coffee, but not the food. read more

From the atmosphere (nothing was rushed and there wasn't the anxiety usually felt in a breakfast/brunch place) to the food (gluten-free and dairy-free options, too!) and freshly ground coffee (brewed there), the staff (the owner Michelle takes the time to speak with you, the staff are professional and on their game) to the finishing touches (pink Himalayan salt in the salt shaker), everything felt curated and cozy (even the bathroom has a fireplace!). My husband and I were excited to find this place. We got paninis and coffees; his was a mocha, which he's very picky about and mine was the bourbon brew. We both got seconds. I took pastries and protein balls home and all have been wonderful. We can't wait to come back. read more
