Yelp you guided me in the right direction again! I was looking for a barbecue place near me that could deliver on the smoky flavor and yelp had a few recommendations including Bourbon Smokehouse. Since it was my first time here and me being new to the menu the host was absolutely welcoming and provided me with recommendations, including their specials of the day. We tried the Triple Barrel which was your choice of three meats and two sides, and we opted in for the ribs, brisket, pulled pork corn on the cob and the mac & cheese. We also selected the special of the day which on Thursday nights it's rib tips and a side and because we were so curious we also ordered the chicken dinner which included a side. All the barbecue was tender, juicy and had an excellent smoky flavor. As for the sides the star of the show was the collar greens they were slap your mama delicious, but the baked potato I couldn't eat it tasted old. You order your food at the counter they give you a ticket to put at your table, and then your food is brought to you . They have a full bar in the back with additional seating. This is a pretty good place to eat it's clean and you don't have to spend a lot of money to enjoy a great plate of smoky barbecue . I've added this place to my rotation. read more

We came here last night, and ordered the triple barrel. It comes with three meats, two sides and one bread for $27 plus tax. We tried the brisket, which was very delicious. We also really enjoyed the ribs, but we did not like the pulled chicken.The Mac and cheese is a little sweeter than regular Mac and cheese, but I still liked it. The people working we're very friendly, the restaurant was clean, my only complaint would be the brisket and pulled chicken were both cold for some reason. read more

This review is overdue! Before Thanksgiving week was upon us my husband and I went out to grab a bite and a beer and he suggested Bourbon Smokehouse since he had been there with a buddy. Upon heading in we went to the bar side, Gina was on fire! She was chatty, and helpful with not only beer choices but beer pairings to the food too. She has that energy that you're wanting, upbeat, and someone you could sit and shoot the shit with, like an old friend. While we were narrowing down our choices and making some final selections, The owners, Joe and Tonya were both there and were delightful to talk to about some fun picks, fried ribs...they reminded me of a smokehouse version of sticky pu-pu platter ribs. This holds a dear place in my heart because it was a "fancy" night out as a kid. Gina suggested the side of Mac and Cheese and it was a home run! In fact, as I type this, I feel my mouth starting to water over that cheese sauce. (sigh.) The depth of unique flavor is like a hug for your tongue. The thick slices of brisket stood all on their own with not a drop of sauce BUT the sauce offerings had me dipping in all of them. The vinegar and sweet tang aren't of those on the door of your fridge, these are made with lots of love and it shows. Joe talked some shop with us, about their beginnings and about home smoking. It was like having a beer on the deck with him. Effortless. The restaurant seems like a better fit, his passion cannot be hidden. Tonya, his wife was also so kind and striving to make sure everything was perfect. She couldn't have made it better if she tried. Cool to see a wife and husband team making their dreams come true. OH! Do not sleep on the corn bread either! Sweet with a lightly crisp top and soft inside with the best amount of crumb. Seriously, I am going tomorrow because my tummy is rumbling just typing! This review in one word: amazing. We got the big platter with ribs, chicken, pulled pork and brisket. Platter comes with a pound of fries and 2 large sides. Fries are good and crispy, tots also. Pork was delicious. Brisket and chicken delicious. Ribs DELICIOUS! The beans are very oniony and savory and the mac n cheese is very rich and creamy. I ended up mixing meats sauce tots and mac for the ultimate comfort meal. Your choice of five house sauces touching all the bbq bases from vinegar to extra sweet. Maybe I'm jumping the gun as I've only eaten here once, but that was enough to make me want to share my experience. I've avoided barbeque places for a long time. The spots in the city I'd like to try just make me feel to uneasy and I have no interest in the high priced ultra slick suburban places. If I drive by and can't smell your food then you've lost me. I was directed to Bourbon's by a retired butcher who praised it. I stopped in for a look, was offered a sample taste of the melt in my mouth brisket and knew I'd have to come back. So, for our first time, my wife and I ordered the meat sampler which came with pulled pork, chicken, turkey, brisket (all in small amounts), a hot link and an Italian sausage link. My luck, they'd run out of Italian sausage (at 2:00 in the afternoon?). It didn't look like we were getting enough food for two people but with the addition of mac & cheese for myself we walked out feeling full. Simply said, the meats were right on. Taste was great and I'm glad they don't add sauce. We could really just taste the meat. Five sauces are offered at the table, though. This was when I wondered how good that Italian sausage might have been. As for the mac & cheese, well, that's exactly what you get: macaroni and cheese. Thick and tasty, without bread crumbs and not made into a cheese stew. They don't overthink it here and both the serving size and cost were right on. The interior is not a dungeon. There are big windows letting in natural light. It's a decent size area with clean floors and tables. Upon leaving, there was nothing remotely negative to say. My wife says the next time she'll be trying their Tres Q Tacos which, from the look of the menu, look interesting. read more

THE WORST BBQ I'VE EVER HAD! If minuscule portion size, dry tough overcooked burnt meat, pasty mac n cheese, and funky tasting cornbread is your idea of BBQ, then by all means go here. If not, don't waste your money on this overpriced slop. Forty dollars barely fed two adults, and they add on for everything. Never again! I rather go to Costco and buy my own brisket and throw it in the slow cooker, but working long hours, I just didn't have the time and a coworker recommended this place. First, I must address the three negative reviews - 1. One person provided one star and he hadn't even eaten at the place. He was just upset it was delayed and opening and when they did they were not operating like a well-oiled machine. 2. Another reviewer said the steak as "dry" and chili was bad. I've had the chili and it is fantastic, and to criticize steak that came from a BBQ place is just wrong. It isn't prepared the same way as Ruth's Chris. 3. And finally the last negative review came from someone named Karen... and I'll leave it at that. I do a lot of travel and when I'm down south I try to find the best BBQ joints.  I've tasted it all, and Bourbons is easily the best I've ever had in all my 50 years.  Bourbons has truly created their own tier of excellence, with those Major Chains (who manage to always have full dining rooms). falling a few tiers below.  I would drive an hour, and drive past multiple "chain" and other "trendy" stops just to get to Bourbons. I've had all their meats multiple times across over at least 30+ visits to date.  Each one is unbelievable.  Their tots and fries are the best, the mac and cheese is to die for, all the buns they use taste fresh - hold the meat - and are slightly toasted to perfection.   I've tried different things, like adding fried unions, pickles, jalapeños, and EVERY time they do not disappoint.  Each ingredient is as you would expect, i.e., the kind that belongs on the BBQ and not just some random type of pickle or pepper. Their prices are at least 30% lower than other chain restaurants, like Famous Daves, and you can get a very tasty and filling pulled pork sandwich for the same price as Arby's best sandwich.  Can you believe that! read more

I have tried this place a few times and really want to like it but still have reservations about it. As others have pointed out the corn bread is great. I had the sliced brisket and while it was very tender it was lacking flavor. Two people had the pulled chicken and found the meat very dry. Both stated they would not go out of their way to order again. The green beans were nothing special and seemed to be from a can. The word bourbon caught my attention so we had to give it a try. The selection was good along with the sauce selection is good . The meat came out tender with a good smoke taste to the point sauce was not needed. Our meals came out quickly and temp could've been warmer this tells me it was made in a large batch but overall very good portion size more the adequate for the price worth a return visit read more

Take out order on a Sunday night ... order a lb of brisket ($29.98) to go. Get home, it was cold and it was 12.2 ounces including the container, pickles and pickeled onions. I would have been ok if they told me they were out. I love bbq but wont be back. I was so excited to try this place, but unfortunately, I was disappointed. So was my husband. We both had the pulled pork sandwich, topped with coleslaw, on a cold bun. The meat was very vinegary.. even tried some of their sauces and it didn't help cover the vinegar taste. Mac N cheese was a heavy bread crumb topping with some corn and jalapeno. Not great..just ok. Went here for the first time based on the recommendation. The place is clearly understaffed. Arrived on a Saturday around 6pm (normal dinner time). They were out of 85% of their menu items. Order taker blamed it on some fest that was going on and that they had to send food to. I'm sure what ever fest was going on was planned out way ahead of time. The restaurant should have planned better to accommodate customers that chose to dine in the restaurant. Once my group placed our order from the limited items that was available, most of the items came out cold (Mac and cheese and pulled pork -to name a few). The bar area is only available for customers of 21. So if you chose to dine here with your family you have to walk into the bar area (which is pretty small, short staffed and will have to wait to be served). My friend and I wanted a bourbon (as in their name) and a draft beer. Was told we could only have one at a time. We decided to just have a draft beer. If we wanted another one, we would have to walk back into the bar. My group loved going to Docs Bbq in mokena when it was open. We were hoping it would be similar and was greatly disappointed. My only positive of the experience was that the sauces were pretty good. I love bbq type food. Unfortunately this will be my first and only visit to the restaurant. First impressions say a lot. I can not say enough great things about the awesomeness of Bourbons Smokehouse!!! Not only is the food out of this world fantastic, but the owners Joe (The PitMaster) & his wife Tonya are two of the friendliest people you could ever have the pleasure of meeting and working with. They were both as fabulous as the delicious brisket sandwiches and homemade beans they made & donated during the Midwest Wheelz toy drive for Toys for Tots yesterday (12/12/2021). They brought everything we needed and more, including their wonderful, generous and giving attitudes. We are very much looking forward to having them as one of our new neighbors. The new Bourbons Smokehouse will be opening the first of Feb. 2022 next door our shop on Lincoln Hwy., in New Lenox. And the norm is 10 for a sandwich, and it's a overfilled bun, extra on the plate,,,put on by a guy with a pair of tongs. With meat falling off the plate,NO SCALE. but not this place. Had the brisket, pulled pork sandwich and chicken tenders with the cornbread. Everything was AMAZING. The brisket was so tender, juicy and so flavorful. You can tell it's a homemade rub that he made and that's the kind of food I love. The pulled dpork was the same, so juicy and tender, I experienced NOTHING dry (even pre sauces which are also hand made) my son gave the chicken tenders 2 thumbs up too. I'd recommend. Great local BBQ spot in New Lenox , have had the ribs , brisket and the pulled pork , all delicious. Yesterday they had 2 for $10 burgers ...amazing . My wife and I went here to try it for the first time and it is wonderful. We tried the meat sampler and we recommend doing this the first time plenty of food for two. The ribs had great bark and were fall off the bone good! The brisket was so tender and had unbelievable flavor. The Italian sausage was nicely smoked and added that extra you need for this item. The spicy sausage was not too spicy and great smoke flavor. The cornbread was sweet and had so much corn flavor. Hard to believe that it actually did not have pieces of corn in it. Excellent. The loaded tater tots were good as well and this gives you so many options for how to load them. We loved the bartender who was great at recommendations for food pairings. My fiancé ordered the create your own Mac and cheese.. it was delicious. Smokey, cheesy, and creamy Mac and cheese! I ordered the 3 meat platter. I can't think of the name of it on the menu. I did the brisket, ribs, and hot links. Got me some corn bread and a baked potato. You also get the pickles and onions on the side. Hot links were great in flavor. I would definitely order those again. Brisket juicy but I preferred to match them with a little sauce... which they have 6 to choose from at your table. Man! Great food! Great service! Great prices! Everything is made from scratch here, from the BBQ sauces to the meats, to the sides! It's so nice to have a new restaurant in town, especially a BBQ place!!
