Every other place has been a disappointment and I had a hard time looking for an eyelash spot I really liked enough to stick to before finding her. I have dead straight eyelashes that grow out straight down, making them difficult to work with, which I blamed on my Asian background. Usually, extensions would weigh down on my natural lash, sometimes obstruct my vision, and would fall off quicker. It was hard for me to get a good curl. I saw Get Minked on Yelp and took a chance because I really liked the photos that were posted. Plus, I noticed a wide diversity in her customers. It was super easy to make an appointment online. During my first visit, I explained to Angela my past frustrations with extensions. She said, "they don't know what they're doing. It has nothing to do with you being Asian." Her confidence in her work reassured me, but of course, what really sold me was the end result. Yes, she really does know what she's doing. I got exactly the fullness and curl that I wanted. The lashes are of great quality and are not shiny or fake-looking. They feel soft, fluffy, and light. She takes her time and she uses a great technique. I've come back since and have gotten different styles, lengths, and even tried bottom lashes; each time, they looked amazing. My go-to is the mink mega volume lash. I'm really surprised that this salon doesn't have more raving reviews on Yelp. It must be because her many loyal customers want her all to herself and want to keep her a secret.

I always feel so relaxed with each of them and when I arrive I feel like a queen! One of the bigger issues was Julie deciding I'd be getting my makeup done at 8:45am for a 5pm ceremony start time- despite my photographer and videographer suggesting otherwise. I was told a few weeks leading up to my wedding the time was non negotiable and Julie is no longer doing my bridesmaids makeup (even though this was in my contract) AND she's leaving right after she does mine. I told her I wasn't comfortable with that early of a start time via text and she blocked me. My text said not delivered, I tried calling and it went straight to voicemail- I thought maybe her phone was off but there were so many other issues that I was suspicious. I tried from my fiancé's phone and wallah, it rang multiple times all the way to voicemail. I left a voicemail and pretended to be confused but it was obvious what happened. I panicked and couldn't believe she blocked me for voicing a legitimate concern. I started calling other makeup artists in the area because I thought Julie was going to take my money and run. Well, all the other artists confirmed that's way too early of a start time AND one of them told me she had multiple brides calling her this season with similar issues with Julie. Of course- two weeks out to my wedding date everyone was booked. When Julie finally had her assistant contact me I asked if Julie would do a bridesmaids makeup at 8:45am and the second makeup artist can do mine later instead. I was informed "Julie does not provide services to bridesmaids and will not be traveling to do so" ... I asked for photos of the other makeup artists work because at this point I was willing to just work with someone else even though I had already paid and completed a $450 trial with Julie. They wouldn't send me any photos. I tried making the best of the situation and accepted it with no say in the matter. Well, less than 24 hours from my wedding I get a text from her company saying Julie will actually be doing my makeup at 7am, and it's non-negotiable. At this point I asked again if she can do a bridesmaids makeup because there's no way I'm getting my makeup done 10 hours before my ceremony and they said no. I sent a strongly worded message and Julie agreed to do a bridesmaids makeup. Bottom line, my wedding look worked out but the amount of issues I had (this is literally the tip of the iceberg) was not worth any of the stress. Working with this company was my ONLY stress about my wedding and it's such a shame. I was booked with them for 2 years so any excuse about covid doesn't hold weight- don't overbook yourself when you had prior commitments, and if you do, maybe inform your brides so we know we have the option to find alternatives so we don't feel like an inconvenience and burden to our makeup artist. My goal in writing this review is that people who rely on these reviews don't make the same mistake I did- I thought I was in good hands with all these great reviews- look elsewhere, there are so many talented and kind professionals who want to make you feel special on your special day. Also, I'm hoping this opens Julie's eyes to her business practice and treats her brides way better moving forward. No part of my relationship or experience with her was "luxurious."
