Unfortunately, 10/10 do not recommend. I had a survey done for an estimate, then was told I'd have an estimate within 48 hours. During the survey things seemed great and I felt good about it. This was on 12/21/23. Although the estimate was not provided on that timeline, with the holidays, I figured no big deal. Then I sent numerous emails/texts after the new year, and even got Mr. Bowen on the phone at one point, who said he thought he had sent me the estimate. Which I never received. He then confirmed it had in fact NOT been sent and said he would send it over. As of 1/9/2024 I still have received no estimate nor have I received any further communication from them although I've tried every medium available. Poor way to do business. Based on several similar reviews, will be reporting to better business bureau. read more

Was able to schedule quickly and confirmed everything via email, which was great, but when the date of the appointment came up, no one every showed up. I tried to follow up via phone and email and so far no one has responded to me. No one answers their business line so you're forced to leave a message. I understand that things come up and appointments run late, but to schedule an appointment two weeks out and then never show up or reach out to reschedule is awful. If I ever hear back from the company I will follow up on this review. If you're reading this it means they never bothered to contact me to explain what happened. read more

I wish i could tell you how great the work was. I had George come out and inspect our chimney on June 22. Two weeks later, i hadn't received estimate for work so i reached out. I received a quote on July 5, which i promptly accepted and asked to be put on the schedule. I have yet to hear back from them/him. Calls to the phone number (540-379-4949) and emails (bowenschimneysweep@gmail.com) have never been responded to. I would love to give them a chance to do the work. Bowen's was recommended to us by Blazes when we purchased an insert from them. Really glad we used Bowen's as they were very prompt and extremely professional. They worked with our schedule and they were EXTREMELY careful to not make a mess while cleaning our chimney before/while installing the insert. I'll definitely use them again for any fireplace services/cleaning and highly recommend them. read more

We have used Bowen for a few years out of neccsessity but their service is horrible!!!! They know they are the only game in town for pellet stoves. You have to call 3-4 times to get a return call. He was supposed to come back and repair something 6 months ago and we are still waiting. Terrible!!!!! read more

I have wood stove with a blower fan which was rattling and making a nasty grinding sound. I called blazes on RT.17 and asked them for help. I'm a handy guy but always believed the guy that does this work every day is the way to go. They referred me to Bowen's chimney sweep and the nightmare began.I waited two weeks for him to show up, he arrived and had to borrow my tools to get the blower fan out. I should have thrown him out then. He did seem to know what he was at least talking about, but talk is cheap.He realigned the fan and put it back together. He asked me if I had any loctite, second reason I should have thrown him out. I didn't have any and he said "well it should be alright ". Thirty-four minutes and seventy-five dollars. On the fourth night the fan did it again rattle and grind. I called them back and two weeks later was when he could come back, no pride in this idiots work. His office states He will be their between 12 and 2pm. My adult son is in the back yard with the dog , He pulls up at noon and leaves his card in the door, he had my phone# but made no attempt to contact me. I call them back and ask whats going on and here we go he will need another $75 to walk threw the door. My electrician friend comes out that weekend and we pull it apart, we call Buckstoves in Carolina and for $22.14 I have a brand new fan and its running like brand new. This guy is all about making quick money on lousy service. I should have known He's a few fries short..... read more

I was very satisfied with George Bowen and his service. I found him to be responsive to all of my e-mail queries. I was having a wood stove insert installed, to included an insulated chimney liner into an existing masonry hearth/chimney. George offered me the best price, and was the most responsive sweep that I spoke to. He came over to do an estimate when he said he would, and came over to complete the work when he said he would. Overall I am very satisfied with both the work completed and the price. I would feel comfortable recommending George as well as having him complete more work for me if required. read more
