I consulted Dr. Bowerman today about hip pain. Upon checking in at Rome Orthopedic, I was welcomed. Technician gave me paperwork, but added that he had updated the forms, and he was kind and helpful! Dr. Bowerman showed me the x ray of right hip/arthritis. He recommended a steroid shot. He also showed me the x ray of my left hip, which is in good shape. He performed a hip replacement on that hip 10 years ago, and I had a good experience, so I wanted to consult him. He thinks I will need a replacement in right hip down the road. However, until then I will walk/stretch/repeat. Thanks also to his nurse and x ray girls, very kind and supportive! Dr. Bowerman gave me the shot, and was very slow and methodical, I could tell instantly that it was going to the pain. He said to give it a few days, but I can tell it is already working! Dr.Bowerman did a hip replacement for me in 2017. He sent me for classes before the surgery so I would be fully prepared and I was given medication with instructions to keep down bacteria on my body. I used it the night before and the morning of the surgery. I followed all instructions so I have not had any problems with my replacement!!! read more

Please do not go see Dr.Bowerman. He has made my life he'll for the past 2 yrs. He did my THR in 9/15/2015. His exact words you will never know it's in there and last you a lifetime. 6 mo post OP starting have same pain as before my surgery. Went back and he told me stem was loose, so I as is the technique error or device. He said device that they had changed design and how they applied coating on stem. He then told me the device fails 1 out if every 10. So because of his greed and carelessness. I have had to have to major hip revisions. The last one being recent was terrible. I don't know if I will ever be me again or even do my job again. read more

Not a favorable impression, and similar to the other poster, was our experience with Bowerman. When I asked if he could do anterior hip for my dad, I was told that he could. The caveat was that he did it poorly, resulting in failure. Blamed it on whatever. The revision was just as bad, with MRSA, requiring another surgery for spacer and IV antibiotic regimen. At the 30 day follow-up, he was told that the "seds rate" was high, indicating remaining infection. We, as a family, decided to quit using this group, and went to Emory Orthopedics, where they did a great job. It has now taken nearly a year and a half to get our dad back to where he should have been long ago. Please go somewhere else for orthopedic surgery, and this negative review includes Floyd Hospital, which is one of the worst in the state for orthopedic infections (google it). read more
