Quick and cheap! No frills shop - everything watches/clocks. Yelp guided me to this place and I am glad I came here. There were already a few people waiting before me to be serviced but the wait was short. When it was my turn, handed over my watch and mentioned that the battery may be dead. 2 mins later I was out with a functioning watch and only $10 lighter. I paid cash rather than ask if they accept cards or not... There is plenty of parking in the lot outside, which they share with other businesses. First let me say I have been taking clocks and watches to Bowers for over 30 years (the old broadview plaza location). I called at 1:50 because I was running late and asked how late open -- replied 2:00. got there about 4 minutes later . brought a Raymond Weil, Movado and antique Hamilton watch to get batteries. Clearly something has happened to Michael. For well over a decade, he has been extremely nice and a pleasure to deal with, but today I had the same type of unpleasant experience that several other reviewers have had in recent months. I asked why the charge for replacing five watch batteries was almost 50% higher than the price listed on their website. He was rude, abusive, and said that the website was out of date as if it were my fault rather than theirs. All this for merely asking if the reason for the extra charge was that some of my watches required special batteries or work. If I had actually complained instead of just inquiring, lord only knows what he would have done. Time to find a new watch repair team. read more

Took clock here to be repaired, five months later still not done, asked the younger for a time frame, she I mean he I'll put it back together and you can just come pick it up later and then walked away. Was charged $225. for a clock that WAS NOT completely repaired. Took it elsewhere and got it back in one week completely repaired. However, recently my son who wears vintage Seiko watches was treated rudely by one of the younger sons. He actually told my son that he didn't want his business. My husband sent his Great Grandfathers watch to Bowers Watch and Clock Repair. It was needing a balance staff/double roller. He was told they would have to find the part and it could take time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After a considerable amount of time he called them and was told not to call them that they would call him when it is ready.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]2 years later after a few more calls my husband asked for his watch back. He was asked DO YOU REALLY WANT IT BACK? It's NOT WORTH the cost of sending it back to you.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] YES of course he wanted it back! It is a pocket watch that will be passed on to our Great Grandson. It was sent back to him, however, when he took it to another repair shop he was told that it wasn't even put back together property and it appears that they used my husbands pocket watch for parts. His pocket watch came back to him with sprung main spring, incorrect pallet fork and several screws not correct for the watch, that the original parts have been removed. Where are those parts? So instead of a couple of hundred dollars to get repaired it is probably going to cost way more. I've used them before and I had a need for my grandfather clock to be repaired again. I had a really good experience the first time around when the dad was still alive. The son, Michael, was the one I spoke with today. He wasn't happy to talk to me and sounded annoyed. He clearly wasn't having a good day and spoke painfully slowly and loudly to me like I was dense when I asked him questions. Even if I was really dense, I wouldn't think it would be in a company's best interest to be so rude to their customers. I don't feel right spending my hard-earned money with them now. read more

They'll also change bands, take out links and do repairs, I just use the most frequently for batteries. I also love that it's a small business, father son owned! The proprietor was rude and dismissive from the moment I first walked into this shop to leave my watch for a battery replacement. I was told that he would call me when the watch was ready. After not hearing anything from the store for over a week, I went to pick up my watch. First the proprietor could not find the watch. Then he gave me the watch (which I expected had not had the battery replaced because he did not call me to say the work was completed). He said there was no charge. I then noted that the battery had been replaced and offered to pay for the service. He again said there was no charge. This was good because when I got home and attempted to set the date on the watch, I discovered that the stem is stuck and cannot be pulled out to set the date or the time. So my watch is broken and I will have to take it to a reputable watch repair shop if I want to be able to use it in the future. There was NOTHING wrong with the watch stem when it was left at the shop. I would urge anyone in the strongest possible terms NOT to do business with the company. read more

I went here to get some links taken out of a watch I bought on ASOS. I thought I was going to have to leave it and come back later to pick it up. But they were able to get me in and out. The older man was so sweet and very quick about downsizing my watch to fit my very small wrist. He sized it before and after just to make sure it was a true fit! There were two people working and despite the constant flow of customers coming in and out, they were very efficient. I was only charged $10 for the removal of 4 links. And the watch finally fit perfectly. They have a pretty good deal on watch batteries too! read more

My boyfriend and I brought in about eight watches between the two of us that needed various battery replacements & link removals. We paid a really decent price for the services and they took almost no time at all! I would say we were there for 15 minutes tops. The only thing I will say is that the owner wasn't listening to me when I explained what services I needed for my different watches. I had four watches, two that needed links removed and two that needed battery changes. He ended up just changing the batteries in all of them and I had to reexplain the link removals I needed. Little mom and pop watch shop. Been here a few times to get a battery change. They are so nice and knowledge and never tries to rip you off. Pricing is very reasonable, usually around $10 for a battery change. The service is quick and friendly. No complaints at all. Will definitely revisit next time I need a watch fix. Do not go here! I went for a battery change on an expensive watch, per a coworkers recommendation and the guy basically ruined my watch. He had it in there for 45 minutes digging around and came out and said it had water intrusion and this piece was broken which he had a sharp instrument poking at it as he was telling me. I politely asked him to put the back on and I immediately took it to Brown and Co jewelers where I had always taken it . I was told.. "No water intrusion and broken watch from this place." The person should not be working on watches! He was unable to see or move around very well and quite frankly he should be responsible for getting this repaired or replaced. read more

I spoke with someone on the telephone, presumably the son, and made an appointment for the next day to service my Howard Miller grandfather clock. Then after a brief discussion with my husband, we decided to hold off for a short time to budget for the sizable investment of possibly replacing the mechanism (quoted at $400-600). I called back immediately to let the store know that I do not need that appointment after all at this time (total elapsed time about 5 minutes.) The man on the phone suggested that I use their website to research which type of mechanism my clock uses to get a better idea of cost. Clearly a good idea, but then he said that "IF YOUR HUSBAND IS MECHANICAL, HE CAN FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO LOCATE THE MECHANISM IDENTIFIER". I very politely told him that it is insulting and sexist to assume that my husband would be the mechanical one in our family. I told him that I'm a professor of mechanical engineering: highly educated and very mechanical myself. I warmly suggested that he not use such a misogynistic phrase in the future.
