Great place to go for practice. My kids are interested in archery and this is a good place to build that interest and skill. Everyone is very respectful and follows rules for safety. Calling out "clear to shoot" and "clear pull". Such a beautiful setting with all the trees and greenery. There's even an archery course around range. Membership for the Archery Club is $40 check the website for all the details. We've been going here for a few years and we really enjoy it. No phone reception in this area. It's concerning that our experience with staff is consistent with 1 star reviews over 6+ years, so it's unlikely we'll return for a lesson in the near future. Based on our recent visit, staff has not been adequately trained or supported for teaching beginners, children, neurodivergent learners or culturally diverse groups. Our group had several veteran educators & therapists who all agreed the experience was soured by the behavior of the staff. The setting is cool & the archers were skilled but we can't recommend this location for "all levels of ability and age". read more

Straight Shooter I like to buy my son experiences for his birthday. Last year I took him and his friends Paintballing and they had a blast. So, this year I figured we'd up the game a little and do some archery. Not willing to go out and buy a whole bow & arrow set, the next logical thing was to look around and see if anyone offers lessons. Well, I didn't have to look far, as Bowhunters Unlimited (BU) made it all too easy. The Good: *Just contact them thru their website and they'll put you in touch with a member that offers lessons. We lucked out and were matched with Linda, whom I believe is the VP of BU. She was terrific. Very patient, but stern, with a group of precocious teenagers. *They offer yearly memberships for $40/year for unlimited shooting. *BU is a private club that operates in a closed off section of Stevens Creek County Park. The area is beautiful and a great spot for outdoor activities. *Small paved lot w/ port-o-potties *The lesson was much, much cheaper than you'd think. $150/4 ppl for 90min is a bargain in this area of the world. This price includes the bows, arrows, and lessons. The Meh: *The drive up is very windy. So if you're really carsick, then this ain't gonna be for you. *Cell phone signal is spotty at best. Sometimes you have signal and sometimes you don't. It's very odd. The Ugly: *Bugs! So many bugs! I don't know what it is about this corner of the park, but we were being harassed severely by some kinda fly. Fortunately they don't bite, but imagine trying to focus on shooting while bugs fly around your face. Fortunately, I had some bug spray in the car, so that helped a lot. As someone with zero background, experience or real exposure, I went looking around for a local place to get some intro lessons. Glad I came across these guys. I was unsure what to expect when I arrived to the range for my 1st lesson with Lisa. But I arrived open to the experience, candid about my lack of exposure/knowledge & a willingness to learn. She was genuine with her welcoming disposition and her approach to teaching was a really good fit for me; had structure/format but just freeform enough to let me sink in & absorb what she was offering. The other folks at the range had been incredibly friendly too! Such a diverse group of people, ages & backgrounds. Everyone I spoke with generously shared their knowledge, background & approach to archery. The range is gorgeous & relaxing too. They have tournaments that are a great balance of welcoming & competitive. After my lessons with her, I returned to the range & even joined a Primitive shoot comp. We went there today (8/30/25) for the first time to try archery as a family recreation. A coach (super sus if she is a real instructor) Linda was assigned. From the minute she started teaching my son, we felt there was something odd about her. She constantly makes nasty comments like, "didn't you see the other boy doing it," or "I knew you would be a floppy one," lots of sighs and facial expressions, attitudes. (Woman, didn't we tell ya this is our first time?) Anyways, we had to stop the lesson due to her unprofessional conduct and attitude problems. We did not want our son experience negative things when we are trying to introduced a new sports for the first time. If you want to give it a try despite there seems to be better places, book for other instructors. Especially for kids, you don't want someone very negative and emotionally unstable. read more

It's a little ways out, but very nice range. Everyone seems to be friendly. If you're a beginner and feel shy or intimidated, try the short range practice targets behind the gate. During the warmer months, the bugs are a little distracting. It's free but maintained by volunteers, so do leave a donation (or become a member). read more

I learned about Bowhunters Unlimited from a coworker and finally had the time to try archery. Parking is somewhat limited to maybe 30 cars (see one of my photos). They have portable bathrooms and washing station. They have a huge shooting range as well as the training area where my group was at. My friends and I have zero experience in archery so I signed us up for an 1 hour intro to archery lesson with an archery instructor. Equipment (bows and arrows) are provided. The way to register for a lesson is through their website (https://www.bowhuntersunlimited.org/request-a-lesson), where you submit a contact form. Afterwards you will be reached out by an instructor through text to schedule a time/date. Instructor should email waivers for everyone to sign. Also, bring cash to pay. Here's the prices depending on party size: 1 person - $45 private lesson 2 people - $30/person 3-4 people - $25/person 5+ people - $20/person The first 20 minutes was focused on safety/rules and knowing the proper form when shooting. Afterwards we were free to shoot arrows for the remaining time while the instructor inspected and corrected our form. Our instructor, Linda, was funny and patient. Very informative and just an easygoing individual. She definitely made archery more enjoyable. Overall, wonderful intro lesson experience. Highly, highly recommended. Our group really enjoyed our time here and Linda was a great instructor. $25 per person for an intro lesson is definitely worth it. Bring some water and get ready for a back workout. For the practicing range, all I know is you have to bring your own equipment (bows and arrows). The website provides several links to purchase your gear. Thank you for having this range, I need to go shooting, super hot, bring sun screen, I had ,and bug lotion. The drive was interesting, Waze says the entrance was about an eighth of a mile too early. I just keep on driving until I saw the entrance on the right. Short drive to main parking lot. If you park on the container on the left that is where you end up after the walking range. The container on right and practice range , on right is where you start. Michael and Michelle where some friendly archer I meet there. They gave me Some advice about the walking range. So off I go , shooting the walking range. I liked the fact the targets where not marked. The targets are placed in little huts. Different type of bales . But they work for stopping arrows. Lots of walking. Nice part Is they have water stations, Two that I found stocked with water, I place in a couple of bucks in the donation pipe at the practice range. Shade is a commodity there, so bring a hat and some bug juice to keep the little flies and gnats away. A couple of nice decent shots not too far away. Overall a very good range to shoot. read more

I was in search of the perfect team-building activity for an engineering team: within tight budget, 40ish participants mostly middle-aged, outdoors, not strenuous, instructor-led, team-work needed, Fri afternoon availability, and individual skill-building. After comparing all the options (scavenger hunt, sand-castle build, nature walk, organic farm) and previous team-building activities (mini-golf/laser tag/bumper cars, bowling, water activities at Shoreline, cliff walk in Half Moon Bay), group archery lessons was my clear winner. I sent requests to several places in the Bay Area. Debbie with Bowhunters was the most responsive and accommodating. We were able to agree to two back-to-back classes of 20 each. Within each class, teams of 5 eventually competed against each other. The group really enjoyed the class, instructors, the game, and were able to see great progress in their aiming ability within an hour. Some said it was their favorite activity of all our previous events. Great site and instructors for a work-related social event! Highly recommend. read more

This is a nice range located out in a part of the Bay many wouldn't otherwise experience. There's targets at various distances here (including the usual 10 and 20 yd which are also found in indoor ranges). In addition, there's a great archery course with several targets--it would take roughly an hour to go through the entire course if one were to go through each target. However, I don't recommend going through this course during this rainy season as it gets quite muddy! That muddiness also does affect practicing at the regular targets as it makes it hard to pull the arrows out of the bale. I definitely want to come back here sometime and try the full course when the weather's a bit better. Here's a special note: This is the only archery range in this part of the Bay Area where one can shoot at the ring ground target, but one must have flu-flu arrows to do so. read more

Awesome archery range! We book for a small team offsite and decided this look like a good place to learn archery. We contacted Debbie and she was a great help in setting it up and teaching us noobs some lessons. We had a competition to shoot balloons during our lesson. This place can accommodate large group of 20+ . There's a shaded area for the long range and beginner will start in the shorter ranges. Make note that parking is limited if you're doing large group; go carpool. I think parking can fit like 10 - 15 max. The lesson are usually $20/hr for one person. We chose to do 2 hours which is a much better amount of time. We did lesson, challenges and then just competition within our group to see who can shoot better at longer range. I recently had the opportunity to try archery for the first time (not counting the suction cup bow I had when I was 8 years old). It was exactly what I needed--an activity that allowed me to relax from the day to day stresses by focusing all my attention on the seemingly simple task of shooting an arrow into a target. The risk was becoming bored but to my delight, I quickly discovered that archery is anything but simple. From the selection of which type of archery, and that specific equipment, to the myriad steps required for consistent accuracy to the physics of the whole thing; I was hooked. After several hours reading and watching videos I decided to buy a bow. It was a pleasant surprise to discover that online prices are about the same as at local archery stores. I definitely recommend buying your first bow in person from someone who knows what they are doing! With my new 62 inch takedown recurve, a quiver of arrows and a finger tab I set out to find the range in Santa Clara County's Stevens Creek Park that Bowhunters Unlimited calls home. (Let me note here that I am not a hunter nor are most of the people I've met). I also scheduled a lesson with Coach Linda as I was wise enough to know I didn't know anything. Over the course of a week while waiting for my lesson I spent about 10 hours learning from other friendly archers, and while I improved, my bad habits became more ingrained. Finally, it was time for my lesson. Coach Linda is very approachable and likeable but no nonsense when it comes to safety. She is both friendly and professional and after observing me shoot a few arrows she was able to quickly identify the problems in my form, and there were lots! One by one, she pointed out what I was doing and what I should be doing with my stance, my draw, my anchor and my release. Halfway through the lesson I shot my best grouping ever (that's the photo). If you are considering archery or think someone in your life could benefit from getting out of their head for an hour, schedule a lesson with Linda or one of the other coaches at BHU and be surprised at what you can do. Hameed was the perfect blend of encouraging and constructive with our son and his technique. It was so fun to see our boy's face light up as he hit the targets. I have been going here for about 8 years. I have taught my son how to shoot here when he was 4 years old. Because this range is so diversed in the different types of Archers (Long Bow, Recurve, Take Down, Compound, etc,) I have learned to shoot on a Take Down and a compound. Kerry has been nice enough to place a huge circle at between 50 and 60 Yards which I use to shoot Flu-Flu's up into the sky and attempt for them to come down and land in the circle. Everyone is extremely nice and helpful. I learned how to make a bow drill fire here with the master Mike. They just paved the parking lot. I will continue to go here. The range is well maintained. You can not go wrong here. It is best to bring your own bow. I believe you can rent one if you go to the website... But that is only on certain days so make sure you look it up before traveling to BH on a whelm if you don't have a bow or arrows. read more

True Silicon Valley gem! This place is a outdoor open archery range, beautiful ground and offered a wonderful group lesson for our party of 8. Debbie welcomed our group, is a wonderful coach and helped our group to learn archery. She went over safety rules and while we were shooting gave us many tips to aim better. In a little over 1 hour, Debbie gave us lots of time to shoot and she had us play 10 balloon popping games that our group really liked. Our youngest player is 10, and he was a little nervous and was so thrilled when he helped to pop a balloon for his team. I come here all the time. There's great community and the club is really well run. Everything is as expected and I particularly like the field setup as it's sort of a bowl so that you can shoot the farther targets as they are seen anyone the closer ones. At other ranges it's a flat field where visibility or keeping your groups together is an issue because of skill and range. If you have beginners it's no issue because there's also two more ranges/backdrops to practise at with out the crowd of the main field. The outdoor pottys are acceptably clean. read more

We were a group of 12 ppl and our trainer was Linda. We hated this session, she was grumpy and yelling throughout the class and it was definitely not a pleasant one. Plus she kept yapping for 45 min out of 90 min class session. The place is good though! Do find a different instructor if possible to make your experience better. read more
