I came to this facility immediately after being discharged from the emergency room, hoping for a safe and supportive detox experience. Unfortunately, from the moment I arrived, things went downhill. Upon arrival, I was told to remove phone numbers from my phone before it was locked away. My luggage was taken, and I was told I wouldn't receive my clothes for 24-48 hours. I asked if I could at least have one outfit, and a security guard told me yes after checking my belongings. When I arrived on the unit, the tech who greeted me offered no orientation at all--no explanation of where I was, what the rules were, or what I was supposed to do. I had to rely entirely on other patients for basic information. Later, when I asked the tech to check with the security guard about my clothes, it seemed like there had been a shift change, because another guard denied any knowledge of that conversation. The tech told me she would get me one outfit, but throughout the day she kept giving me different excuses, clearly just trying to get me out of her face. Before her shift ended, she told me she'd get my clothes at 8 a.m. the next day. That didn't happen. I went over 48 hours without showering. When I continued to ask for my belongings, she told me there were people who had "been waiting way longer than me" and had a clear attitude. I finally snapped and was ready to leave until two counselors stepped in, convinced me to stay, and immediately got my clothes. Once that happened, my mood and outlook improved significantly. Sleeping here was awful. The nurses wake you up every four hours to take vitals, which is incredibly disruptive when you're detoxing. I barely slept at all. Phone access was another huge issue. The website is misleading--it does not clearly explain that phone calls can only be made in front of counselors, and at the time there was only one counselor available. That counselor was constantly busy, making it extremely difficult to call my family and let them know I was okay. I briefly saw a doctor who prescribed my antidepressant medication. However, I was told I had to wait for the pharmacy to deliver it--and it never came during the entire four days I was there. As a result, I suffered from night terrors, hallucinations, and extreme irritability, all of which could have been avoided. Many of the nurses were rude and dismissive. One serious incident involved a new roommate who began stealing my belongings. When I raised concern, a nurse mocked me by saying, "You're getting mad over a sandwich?"--completely missing the point that I had my wallet and valuables in the room. Another nurse (a heavy-set Black male nurse) told us he wasn't moving anyone and that if we fought, we'd both be kicked out. Instead of de-escalating, he and another nurse were provoking and unprofessional. I requested a supervisor. Thankfully, the director and her assistant handled the situation professionally, de-escalated it, and treated me with respect. Another major issue: this facility does not allow you to only detox. They push for a full rehab stay, and this was not clearly communicated upfront. I specifically came for detox only. Group therapy was also poorly managed. Detox groups were constantly interrupted by staff and rehab patients walking in mid-session--even while people were venting. It was disrespectful, disruptive, and made it hard to feel safe opening up. Overall, the facility felt severely understaffed, and asking for help often made me feel like a burden rather than a patient in need of care. The Positives The one standout counselor was Mr. James--an older, wise, kind man who was approachable and genuinely supportive. He made a difference. The food was also very good. I genuinely enjoyed every meal--breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Final Thoughts This place has potential, but serious changes need to be made in staff professionalism, communication, patient safety, and honesty about services offered. If you're considering coming here, know exactly what you're signing up for, ask direct questions, and advocate for yourself aggressively--or bring someone who can. read more

Patients are treated better in jail. 1 call per week, no return calls from counselors. My son did 24 days and 1 guy accused him of drugs and the staff made my son leave without confronting both of them, he had problems with this guy when he came and only been there a week. HOW WOULD MY SON GET A HOLD OF DRUGS!!!! already did 24 without any so why would he want it!!!! Threw him out in the cold and he had to walk 4 hours to get home, as he had no phone. This place is BAD, not to mention they are making a ton of money from vending machine that charge $15.00 for 1 pack of cigs. you can only have approved drop off for items for them. yes I went there in July for detox and further treatment. we were ignored, refused psych meds and medical needs were ignored for days. I finally was sent to hospital for treatment and was refused to have my wallet id clothes or any of my belongings with me. they wanted me to come back immediately for further stay to bill insurance. I tried for months to get my things important documents , id credit cards 200 dollars in cash cartons of cigs brand new coat and clothing.intake staff Nancy and driver played dumb and never answered counselors of rehab or director of following treatment facility which was a sister to bowling Greene. I absolutely beg anyone going into treatment to not ever even consider going there. They are negligent unreliable and do not care for clients. read more

I think the people that work there are pretty cool as people but they don't know a damn thing about recovery. If you have a specific problem with something be prepared to get pointed in 5 different directions by 5 different techs and counselors. Not only that but people who are there 30% are there to avoid jail they have no intention of being clean and sober. These people stole my money, cash app card, and some clothes. People trading their medications for cigarettes or money. It was disgusting to watch. There's 3 maybe 4 counselors who actually give a shit. If I didn't have prior experience with rehab I wouldn't have gotten anything out of it. IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME TO REHAB GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. food was ok most days but when it's bad it's really bad. When I was in BGB, there was literally only one staff member who tried to help me when I said I was going to AMA. She practically begged me to stay. At the time I was pregnant and there aren't any accommodations for pregnant other then doubles on your food trays. The staff will just tell you what you want to hear and let you move on. They practically only do the required paperwork and try and hide behind the glass desk in the detox center all day... the manor is disgusting and full of bugs in the summer time. This all took place before they separated the male and females from each other. Rumor has it that there was nothing but baby making going on when the men and woman were allowed to roam together. If it weren't for the ONE staff member who tried to help me, then I would have given this place a 1 star review... if your looking for intense programming and actual recovery, better off going to Warwick manor or banyan. read more

It's a death sentence If you go there. They lost my clothes, never gave me my meds for 9 days, never gave me scripts when I left and refused to give me copies of my medical records. You are diabetic and are not a vegetarian your sugar is going to be high they have no diabetic menu whatsoever. Even with the wristbands they give you to where saying your insulin dependent or diabetic there's nothing for you to eat except salads. If you want to stay sober go somewhere else please. read more

My husband said, "My experience that I had at Bowling Green was definitely not one that I would like to repeat. The nursing staff is untrained. The doctor is untrained. The CEO will lie to your face. Bowling Green seems to be all about the money, not about helping those that really are seeking treatment I met, three counselors that really helped me.There were a few techs ther , that helped. You cannot get sick at Bowling Green. The doctor does not know how to treat you. They don't want you to go to the ER. I had pneumonia and two other infections Bowling Green lab said that there was nothing wrong with me. I stay in the hospital five days they're not gonna tell people this, but a gentleman hung himself there while I was there and he reached out for help. They didn't take him serious you are not allowed to cal , dial 911 if you work there until you're seen by a nurse first staff cannot call 911 even if you have a heart attack I personally would not want to send my family member there or ever go back there again however I did get the help I need because I did what I had to do. I made it the best of what it was if you go there do your best because you're not gonna get it from staff and this is some staff members especially the medical staff they don't give you orientation you don't know what to do when you first get there it's like fly by the seat of your pants you'll learn as you go along. I was at Bowling Green August of 2023, for alcohol treatment. Here we are 2 years later and I'm still sober. I've tried to stop drinking on my own, just would go back a couple months later. It was the best 29 days of my life. From the co,s to counselors to the administrators were involve with my care. I highly recommend this facility for drugs or alcohol treatment. Had I not gotten sober I probably would be here now because after leaving Bowling Green I found out I had stage 3 small cell carcenagona Lung cancer.. But today I'm 17 months cancer free. Unorganized and overcrowded are best to describe it. They are understaffed. I never received any support while here. They simply refer you to someone else or another department. The program is very inefficient; I only seen the doctor once he didn't even include me on what he was going to treat me with. He just said I'll find out later. I received only 3 days in detox with bare minimum MAT. I was in so much pain and was turned away when being asked to see doctor. The place is a circus and the patients run wild. The food is horrible. Don't go!! I have never been treated so poorly in all my life. I didn't know that "professional" could curse at you on a daily basis. Miss T would tell us to shut the f**k up every time she did roll call and she was very degrading to most of us. She would make me feel less than... I never had a one on one session with a counselor and it was just a pit stop. Absolutely no activities. All there is to do there is one AA/NA meeting a night. It's not safe unless you are street smart, which I am not. Please be careful sending loved ones here. No security and plenty of violence. The old man with suspenders serving food was always degrading. I asked him if I could have a piece of lasagna that had noodles because he scraped the sauce out of the pan and gave it to me and he said NO do you want roses on the table too. 3 times he embarrassed me. This place is AWFUL!!! Once u arrive u think it's a great place once ur really in it u realize how unprofessional and disorganized it truly is. Don't ask anybody a question they just refer you to the next and so on. Then when you leave you have to make an appointment to receive your own items which they won't be able to find and try to tell you to make another appointment regardless of how far u live away. read more
