We usually stop here on our way to Tucson. Easy off, easy on the interstate. It's a combination Shell gas station, gift store, convenience store, travel center. If you need it they have it. Plenty of parking and restrooms are always clean and stocked regardless of how busy they are. Lots of western inspired clothing and gifts. Pottery, statues, tees, shoes, prices competitive considering it's basically in the middle of no man's land. Cold drink selections abundant. Some hot foods like hot dogs. Plenty of packaged snacks. If they are making the roasted nuts from the cart, buy then. Same with the popcorn if it's fresh. Employees for the most part helpful and friendly. read more

We pass by this place on our way to Picacho Rv park for our church service . It is very close to our home . We enjoyed stopping to get some nice unique Christmas gifts. I started traveling once a week between Phoenix and Tucson for work and figured this would be a nice place to stop routinely to get snacks and gas. Sadly, I won't be stopping here again. I found the staff here to be very rude. When I approached the cashier to pay for my items, the cashier with either British or Australian accent completely ignored me when I said "Hi, how are ya".. Really cool rest area with an awesome large Western style store. It's not what you'd expect to see in an Arizona tourist trap. Restrooms, most importantly, were very clean. The employees were all friendly and helpful. Parking was plentiful on a Tuesday afternoon and that too was clean. The snacks and drinks they sell were not overpriced from what I saw. Stopped here twice, both going to California and going back home and it was an easy off and back onto I-10 experience. No busy traffic to deal with. The place is neat and clean and beats trying to get gas closer to Tucson or Phoenix. read more

This place is super easy to get in and out of, and shouldn't be confused with their identical store across the street. It's essentially the same, but without the Dairy Queen inside. No garage to speak of AND they don't have ANY airpumps at all. No one, nor does the other gas station across the street. WTF! This is a rest stop geared towards out of state travelers. It's owned by the same organization that puts on The Thing. BTW, if you haven't been there, you aren't missing out on anything, as it is an overrated and overpriced attraction. However, the things they sell at this location are anything but overrated and overpriced. I was able to get socks for my girlfriend here for $5, and purchase some gifts for my international friends at a very good price here. Customer service could be better. The same person kept bugging me every minute and asking if I needed help. I had to keep telling her that I was just browsing. My friend bought some moccasins for about $40, and she loves them dearly. This used to be my favorite stop between tucson and phoenix, sadly I will never enter this store again. I stopped in on Saturday and the "manager" Marianne was the most appalling individual I have encountered in some time. She spoke to the gentleman running the counter in such a way that would have had me out the door had I been him. Not only was she disrespectful to her employees but she is just plan nasty to deal with. Steer clear of this place if you have any desire to have a pleasant shopping experience! Our car broke down on the freeway (with our newborn) and luckily we were able to pull into here. Nicest staff and manager who were quick to help us with friendly conversation, getting us set with waters and where to get our car towed to. I often wind up going here leaving Tucson and coming back to it, and it is welcome. It's big knock: it closes and is not a 24 hour facility. I don't know what time, maybe around 8 or 9? The gas however is open 24 hours. The bathrooms are most welcome and clean. There are many many gifts here, just tons, from panchos and hats to trinkets and lots of fireworks. There are snacks and beverage and a lot of jewelry too. Prices are okay, nothing great. The best deal is the .25 cent bin of things they are dumping, like postcards and magnets and other knick-nacks. I usually leave with a ton of those. And I bought a nice jacket for $8. A great place when you need a little gas or a break. read more

Overpriced gas and dirty bathrooms! This used to be our favorite stop between Phoenix and Tucson, but no more. We made a our usual stop and paid more than 50 cents more per gallon than it was selling for just down the road in Tucson. The bathrooms on both sides were dirty and disgusting. One stall was missing a door latch, another did not have any toilet paper and most had overflowing trash bins. The floors, toilets and sinks were all in need of a long overdue cleaning. This was our last stop here - we certainly didn't buy any food! If they can't keep their bathrooms clean, how clean can their food handling be? Done with Bowlin's! Never Again! read more

Why am I giving four stars to a gas station? They don't even have cheap gas! This is one of those service stations that is a good 10 miles from anywhere and so they charge about 30 cents more per gallon than what you would find in Tucson or Phoenix (it is about half way between those two cities). That is outweighed, however, by the sheer volume of interesting stuff you can find in their convenience store. Not only do they have a great selection of cheap eats, fountain drinks, junk food and bottled beverages but also some really unique shopping for souvenirs, travel accessories, and gifts. Some of the items are made by local craftsmen, some are imported from nearby Mexico, but most are probably made in China. However all of them have a Southwest theme: cacti, chillies, hunting, ranching, rodeo, etc. You can find everything from T-shirts to cowboy hats to figurines to a cowhide set of matched luggage. If you are on a road-trip from out of state and want something to remember your time in Arizona by, this is a great place for one stop shopping. If you are just commuting that insufferably boring stretch of I-10 between Tucson and Phoenix then it is still worth a stop just to stretch your legs. You can keep the whole family entertained for a good 20 minutes just wandering around the store and take your mind off the road for a while. read more

Fulfilling my life long dream if visiting the Picacho Peak Plaza. The perfect little place in the middle of nowhere to stop on the way to Tucson when you get so bored driving you'd like to hit your head on the steering wheel. They offer an amazing array of souvenirs sure to please the most annoying of relatives. Everything from cute moccasins for the little ones to a real life buffalo head for four thousand dollars that Grandpa can hang in his garage. They have a variety of snack items and the most important reason to stop, clean restrooms. Yay! read more

I was traveling from el paso texas and needed to grab a bite so we went to the subway, and 1 of the boys was so slow, and the other finished 5 sandwhiches while the other struggled making a 6 inch. It was terribly slow, and they struggled heavily just servicing us. Place is full of creeps, and just weirdos! - not to mention they saw us, and we waited 20 minutes to purchase a arizona tea and snack. - terrible and slow service. The store is wonderful although I often need gas. Twice I was very disappointed with the gas pumps. I had troubles trying to get the pump to except my Shell Rewards card and my debit card. Both times I stopped in I had to leave and find another gas station. The trash cans near the pump where soooo full- flies all over. It is a good stopping point between Sierra Vista and Phoenix. But for now on I will make my next stopping point Casa Grande. This place might as well close. Saved me as well from paying $3.79 a gallon. Your way tooooo high! read more
