Outrageous service charge. Read the reviews, others have said beware of the cost you are paying. Silly me, I did not read reviews just thought I would support my local businesses. Tech went to my rental, never called while he was there. I called the office and asked how the service call went, I was told the unit was too old (which I knew) for him to even touch. I received my invoice for $346.53 it said diagnostic/trip includes 1.0 hr labor, start and check A/C, no issues detected, system is cooling it's best due to age. I cannot imagine the cost had they actually done more than look at if from afar. I also received 5 quotes from area, Bowman's was not the best equipment but equivalent in Seers, and tons. However, theirs was the highest by $2500. I would not recommend that anyone use Bowman's for service or replacement. read more

Jesse and his team are knowledgeable and professional. We had a 17 year old HVAC system replaced with no issues. Completed the scope in a day. Beware of the cost you are paying for part markups. I am an out-of-town landlord with a very good tenant. They had a problem with the heater and called Bowman. The service technician came out promptly and diagnosed the problem with the draft inducer. The problem came when they quoted the tenant $329 plus shipping for what is normally a $100-150 part. I called Bowman's and they gave me a lengthy explanation that it was a "special" part they were ordering with 2-day rushed delivery, hence the high markup. If I could o I confirmed the part they were ordering, contacted Grangier (who supplied the heater) and confirmed I could order the OEM part through them for $125 and have it factory shipped from the heater manufacturer with $45 for overnight early AM delivery. I called Bowman's back and told them I arranged for the OEM part to be delivered and directed them to install the ordered part. I also directed them to leave any parts that were removed from the heater. I also conveyed to the tenant the arrangements for the part to be delivered and that Bowman's would install the factory ordered OEM part. All was good, or so I thought, until my tenant said that the Bowman's technician refused to install the factory ordered part and insisted the repair could not be completed unless their (Bowman's) part was installed. The tenant (without heat) obliged the repair technician. As it was confirmed that it was the same exact part from the same exact manufacturer, the tenant will not be reimbursed for the cost of the Bowman's part. I can understand that these places need to make money on marking up the repair parts, but I believe charging $329 for a $125 part is a bit excessive. Caveat Emptor. read more

I am very happy with the service that I received. I am an off-site property owner, with vacation rental condos in Wildwood, NJ. I received a call from my tenant that his air conditioning was out and the thermostat power was off. After a brief troubleshooting with him, I determined that I needed a professional. I am also in a service business two hours away, so I am very hesitant to have to call a service company that I have not done business with before, because some of them are just crooks, try to rip you off on one job and typically do not survive on repeat business, but Bowman's was just the opposite! They took my call at 4:45 p.m., took my information, and were able to complete the repair the next morning at 10:00 a.m. They did require advance payment with a credit card (which I fully understand) because I had never done business with them before. They were fair, and honest and reasonable in their charges, and I had a happy tenant with his A/C back up and running. I will continue to call Bowman's for future needs. My experience was negative, like Doug M's in his review. I agree that Bowman's has the worst customer service I have experienced. My father was in the business and I started helping him with repairs when I was 11, so I know a bit about working on HVAC equipment (Dad wanted me to go to college, so I lost my HVAC chops). My A/C system is getting old and I'm going to have to replace it soon. I don't want to entrust this to just anybody, so thought I would try Bowman's on a small job to check them out, hoping they would be great. The Bowman folks seem to know about basic HVAC repair, which is good. The problem is that they treated me like dirt and I just don't trust them. I was met with exceptional rudeness, miscommunication and broken promises. I remember going on service calls with my father when I was young, and he taught me that knowing what you are doing is not enough. He said I should be clear and respectful to customers, that I should keep my word and treat people right. His solid blue collar lessons helped me get the good things I have in this life. My father would not be happy with Bowman's. The Bowman person who scheduled my appointment interrupted me, talked down to me and spoke over me. Then she got my information wrong because she wasn't listening to me -- and blamed me. The owner left out important information when I spoke to him, and when I confirmed that he had it, he acted annoyed. The service tech didn't call me before he showed up, even though the owner assured me that he would. Plus, the tech was 2 hours early. I wasn't at the house, so the tech bothered my renters and made them call me instead of calling the Bowman office and asking them to contact me, or calling me himself. I hated calling the Bowman office, so I understand why he bothered my renters instead of talking to his co-workers. Still, he selfishly showed no respect for my business. Fortunately, I was close by and went right to the house. When I got there, the tech didn't introduce himself, kept his sunglasses on and said just about nothing. He told me that Jesse did not give him my telephone number -- even though Jesse assured me that he would. The tech had a very bad attitude -- like he hated his job. And I would hate dealing with the Bowman folks on a repeat basis, so I feel for him. When I asked the tech for an explanation of the service he performed, he condescendingly told me "it was complicated." Not helpful. When I asked him for details, he rattled off jargon as fast as he could. Also not helpful. I kept trying and he kept condescending. In my business, I occasionally have to deal with uncooperative hard-edged folks, so I persisted with the tech. When he finally was willing to answer my questions, it turned out that he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed. He just tried to make up for it with a bad attitude. Finally, they sent me a bill showing that they charged my credit card for the full amount due. But they also told me to pay the bill -- again. It sure looked to me like they tried to double bill me. After putting me through the wringer, it just didn't smell right. All in all, it was a very annoying experience with very annoying people. I admit, they showed basic competence. I can see why Jeffrey D. (in his review) found Bowman's helpful in a pinch. Beggars can't be choosers. You can bet that when I buy my new A/C system, I will go somewhere else where they have respect for hard-working home owners. UPDATE: The folks at Bowman's attempted to have my review taken down for a technicality in Yelp's rules. Obviously, they didn't like the review. I had a plumbing issue as an off-site landlord in Ocean Towers, Wildwood. I live about 2 hours away. It was reported Thursday night, and I knew I had the tools and the parts to handle that. But with Fall coming, I also knew that I had a problem with my heater that I needed to get solved. So I sent an email to Bowman's that night. Michelle called me at 9am the next morning and worked me into their schedule. The man that showed up was personable and knowledgeable. At the end, he showed me all the rusted parts that he had taken out and replaced. Also he was concerned about, get this...The amount of noise the furnace made. He placed in noise filters and made us very happy! We always just expected that the furnace would make that noise...nope! Very professional company. Called them at 2 to get a status said someone will be there by 5pm. No one showed up called office at 5 office was closed.
