For our skating use, which is pleasure skating/learning to stop, the little rink, which is a volunteer maintained ice surface was perfect. I don't know if we were actually allowed to skate on it, but the boarded rink time is scheduled so don't try sneaking on there. When I got there, I was a little bit confused by the architecture of the building and wasn't sure where I was supposed to go in. Finally, I made my way inside to what I believe to be the main floor. There wasn't a ton of space in here, but more than enough room to highlight some great vendors. I browsed some jams, rad terrariums, artwork, etc. I made my way upstairs, but again, the size of the building didn't allow for much capacity and I ended up feeling too close to strangers and left. Even though I once lived in Bridgeland, this is the first time I have visited this centre. I was coaching a client swimming, without anyone asking her for her opinion or any idea of my clients history, a life guard felt she needed to comment that my client was a "sinker" - when someone says they are learning to swim you do not speak down on the confidence they are trying to build. To add to the situation a fellow life guard joined her and we could both hear them talking about us openly. Extremely unprofessional, disrespectful, rude and condescending. Would not recommend people going there- after tonight I'd give zero stars if I could.

I haven't been in the pool yet but it is definitely the selling feature of this facility. The reason I go here is for their gym; drop is passes are $6 (cheap) during the week and $2 (cheaper) on Sundays from 2-4pm. This place happens to be super close to my house so instead of hulling everything downtown for a weekend workout, I just drop in here. They have four treadmills, four elliptical, 2 stair masters, and 4 bikes; so not much cardio equipment. You have to sign up to use a machine on a white board in 25 minute increments, and often, there is a wait-list. There are a few TV's overhead these machines for those who need the distraction, however I don't think you can hear them (I'm not 100% sure on this though). They have a really decent selection of free weights and weight machines that I personally find to be sufficient for my needs. If you go in off-busy hours, it's nice to have the weights area to yourself. It's a small room with wall to wall mirrors but it does the trick. Definitely not a bad drop in gym. You have to have a code to get into the gym so if you do drop in, make sure you ask the front desk for the code. Enjoy :)

This place is a little hard to spot and looks kinda weird and shady from the outside but it's an…read moreawesome City of Calgary fitness centre & pool conveniently located in downtown! It's a tier 1 facility which means drop in fees/memberships are cheaper than the tier 2 facilities and you can also use your tier 2 membership/passes here if you have one. They have a smaller 18.25m 4 lane pool that's in a half-basement with a nice sauna. The shorter pool might not be best for hardcore training but you do get to say you've done way more laps than you normally would and it is also amazingly deserted for a City of Calgary pool. I hate swimming in crowded lanes and it's usually very empty here. They also have drop in classes and programs of all varieties for children and adults alike. There is a respectable fitness centre with some free weighs as well as machines and regular cardio machines. The outdoor rock climbing wall is also now open! You can climb as long as you've done a belay lesson and signed a waiver and there are auto-belays for you to climb unsupervised. Definitely recommend checking this place out; I think it's way better value than most gyms and I love the variety of activities available! The staff are also super friendly and helpful!

What a fantastic facility!…read more I play in a recreational sports league called "SuperJocks", where 5 teams of women play a different sport each week. Many of our games are booked at the Calgary Jewish Center, so after a number of years in this league, I am quite impressed with this facility. I haven't seen the entire centre, but the area that I frequent has a very large gym, well-equipped change rooms, and our games are played in a fully stocked gymasium, where we play volleyball, basketball, dodgeball, floor hockey and soccer. I have also taken some yoga classes there, and their yoga studio is very impressive as well! If you live in the SW, definately check out the programs at this center. It is open to all to take fitness classes!
