Sweet! Clay, the owner, was super nice and we chatted the entire time I was looking around the store. He told me that this store has been here for 25 years and that he goes around the world looking for items and buys them up and then has them shipped back to here. Great! The reason the store is called Yucatecan Imports is when he first opened the store, he originally was bringing back hammocks from Yucatan, nice little history there! Each item in the store is marked with price and also where it comes from, so super cool! This is about as fair trade as it can be. Clay has hand painted scrolls from Thailand, Buddha calendars from Nepal, bookmarks from Turkey, earrings from Peru and Mexico, and my favorite, he has a chirango from Ecuador (however, the chirango was made in Bolivia)! I wanted to stay in here all day and look at everything he has as it is super neat all the wares he carries. He doesn't operate an online business, so he's old school, and wants you to come into his store, great! I ended up buying a mini wooden carved elephant from Thailand, this is a gift for my mom as she loves elephants (and so do I) and will send it to her! I'll definitely be back here especially when I have to find unique gift items for friends and family! Great little shop hidden away, come check it out!
