My husband and I rarely have a moment to ourselves. With a toddler, a dog, a cat, and two of my adult younger brothers currently abiding in our very cozy home, alone time is merely a memory. For our anniversary this year we stayed at Boyd Lodge and had the most blissful, quiet, relaxing day imaginable. Surrounded only by the sounds of the leaves falling from the trees we were able to truly connect and enjoy each other's company in a way that just isn't feasible at home. Thank goodness for the rest, relaxation, and opportunity to focus on our relationship. We returned home rejuvenated and full of gratitude for such a wonderful experience. Boyd Lodge is truly a gem and we look forward to planning another stay in the very near future! We'll bring our daughter along next time though, because Mommy missed her far too much. read more

This place is magic! What a perfect escape from the realities of the pandemic--made possible by the impeccable safety protocols Boyd Lodge has put into place. We received an extremely warm welcome during curbside check-in, and were happy to see signs about masking, distance and other smart measures (like one family/party per hot tub sesh and masks inside the main office/store) which made us feel safe enough to relax and enjoy. Pre-arrival and throughout our stay, the communication was excellent, responsive and so exceptionally kind. We rented #52 which was perfect for our family of seven--there was plenty of space but we used an air bed to give the tween her own room. The cute kitchen was beyond equipped with all you need to make all of your meals. And you'll get an email before you arrive with the full run-down of what you'll need to bring (condiments, spices, coffee, etc.). The pool (one of 2, I believe) is directly across from this property. It's a good size, clean, great for kids and a good amount of room to spread out. The pool house includes a nice hot tub and bathrooms. The stunning beach is just a walk down a path and a over boardwalk across a pond covered in lily pads (looks like an oil painting--it's so pretty). The water is perfect for kids with gentle waves and plenty of shallow area to play and learn to paddle board like our five young ladies did. There's a blow-up toy/platform to play on and a fabulous dock for the classic Minnesotan run-and-jump. I only ran into one Karen who was annoyed to have to put her phone and beer down long enough to parent her child and try to keep him distant from ours (which stinks, I know, but it's the reality if you believe in science and can bring yourself and your child to manage a minor, temporary inconvenience to keep each other safe). Literally everyone else on the property was kind and courteous in giving each other space wherever possible and not being rude and entitled about it. It's not a personal opinion or an assault on your rights--it's the policy of the resort to wear masks in common areas and stay 6 feet apart (which is why we chose Boyd Lodge and will continue to in the future). We rented a pontoon for the morning on our last day, and it was clean, gassed up and ready to go right outside our property. Most importantly, the vibe here is very loving, very hospitable, and you can tell that so much thought, work and care go into making this place a comfortable, safe and magical getaway for all! Wow! We stayed at cottage 3 in Boyd lodge and it was a blast. This cottage is the last one on the strip so there are no neighbors but on one side. The cottage is very modernized with all the amenities and creature comforts. Well laid out with plenty of room for 10 adults to sleep comfortably. There is a nice beach area with lots of trails and boating, facility is well kept and super clean. This will be a great place for a family reunion or get away! read more

Awesome place. Clean nice new cottages, management runs a tight ship, always friendly and will bend over backwards to make sure you have a great time. Dock slips for each cottage, private boat launch, leeches and worms at the gift shop. The place is so nice you don't mind if fishing is bad, it's fun just to hang out in the cottage. Motorized fishing boats and spacious new 22 foot Harris pontoons available to rent. 300 feet of beach shoreline. Best beach on white fish. 2 pools . Sauna. Hot tubs. Close restaurants and convince stores. My family has spent the past two summer vacations. Be very hard to leave this place. read more

I recently spent several days with my 8 year old daughter at Boyd Lodge. In that we live on the west coast, (and are not familiar with the area), it was a challenge to find a location in Minnesota that would be child-friendly, quiet, comfortable, offer good fishing and lots of great scenery. Anyone who "shops" on-line knows that things aren't always what they appear to be, and websites can end being a lot of hype. In the case of Boyd Lodge, every aspect of the lodge far exceeded all of my hopes, and was easily as nice as the website claimed. Seriously!!! The cabins were pristine, modern and (of course) very clean. The overall feel of the lodge was fantastic - quiet, friendly, and extremely comfortable. Everything we needed was at our fingertips, and yet provided the feeling that we were indeed in an environment far from the hassles (and noise) of everyday life. I can't say enough about the kids' activities that are a regular part of the Boyd Lodge routine-turtle races, bonfire on the (very nice) private beach, etc, etc. But most of all (and this is no exaggeration), the best part was the hospitality shown by Ruth and Mike, the owner/caretakers of the lodge, and their staff. They sincerely did their best to make us feel welcome and comfortable, and obviously know the area so well, that any questions we had about fishing, guides, restaurants, and activities were answered without hesitation. This is truly a great place for a family trip and for those who want to enjoy seriously good fishing. read more

Just spent a week at Boyd Lodge with our kids and grandkids and had a fantastic time. Mike and Ruth were very hospitable and welcoming. They had a lot of fun family oriented activities such as minnow and turtle races, game nights: Deal or No Deal and Bingo with nice prizes and a bonfire with s'mores and campfire pies. The are just a few examples. The Cabin we stayed in was roomy and well equipped. The 11 of us loved the pools and also going to the beach. Wonderful family vacation and will do it again! This Lodge sits in the back of the woods on the Whitefish Lake Chain. The cottages are warm, decorated nicely and have updated kitchens for cooking your own meals. I continue to stay at this lodge every year because of the superb management, nice staff, beautiful cabins and cottages and the woodsy private atmosphere. I will continue to stay every year! I recommend this lodge for all seasons, for families, for a get together with your friends, for a men's outing of golf and/or fishing, for anybody to relax and get away from the grind of the city.
