Delray Beach Police killing it this morning!! :)))

Historic moment today at the Boynton Pier Inlet the SS United States was seen being tugboat to Mobile, AL for dismantling and then to Destin, FL for sinking. So cool, this ship is bigger than the titanic. Great history to read about. I was able to take great historic pictures to show the grandkids one day. Hahaha. Beautiful day. Good day to have a good day.

Boynton Inlet Pier is one very strong pier! It's solid concrete and super wide. It's s great place to watch the boats coming in and out of the inlet. There is no fee to walk this pier. The day we visited, there were a few people fishing. One had a bucket full of fish that he had caught. I liked having the round metal railing to hold onto while enjoying the view. I could visit here every week. Its so relaxing!

The South Lake Worth Inlet is also called the Boynton Inlet. It can be accessed by Ocean Inlet Park. The inlet is bordered by the town of Manalapan to the north and the town of Ocean Ridge to the South. In the mid-19th century Lake Worth Lagoon was a fresh water lake with no connection to the ocean. In 1866 the Lake Worth Inlet was cut near the north end of the lagoon turning the fresh water lake brackish and it also became polluted by cities who were dumping raw sewage. In 1925 construction was started an on inlet on the south end of lagoon that would allow the polluted water to be flushed out into the ocean. A bridge over the inlet opened September 3, 1926 allowing automobile traffic to continue through to Palm Beach along Ocean Boulevard. The inlet was completed in 1927 after which it became popular for picnics and fishing. A side effect of the creation of the inlet was that it impeded the natural sand flow to the south of the inlet which resulted in erosion along those beaches. To combat the problem In 1937, the world's first fixed sand bypassing plant, was created in 1937 which reduced the erosion. During WWII the U.S. Coast Guard took over the Mar Lago Hotel on the inlet and used it to look for German U Boats around the inlet. The creation of the inlet launched the economy of the area by making it a fishing and boating destination. The Inlet allows for easy access to the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf Stream. It is one of the few places you can reach the ocean from the Intracoastal Waterway. In 1988, the county improved Ocean Inlet Park park and its amenities. The park is still a popular destination for people seeking recreation today. Today you can park at Ocean Inlet Park to access the Boynton Inlet Pier which extends out over the ocean. Made of concrete, it is a popular fishing spot in the area. Tarpon are a prized catch. Unlike a lot of piers in the area there is no charge to use the Boynton Inlet Pier. I like to just walk out on the pier to get a view of the ocean. Anglers can also fish from the north side via the vehicle bridge.

Aim for early morning or later in the afternoon to snag a spot without the stress. What makes this park special is the covered area right next to the upper parking lot -- benches, shade, sea breezes, and a gorgeous view of the beach, all without a single grain of sand in your shoes. I've spent many a relaxed afternoon just soaking in the scenery from up there. But when the mood strikes, I grab my towel or beach chair and head down to the sand for the full beach experience. The amenities are solid: clean bathrooms and rinse-off showers, covered picnic pavilions with grills and tables, and lifeguards on duty daily from 9 to 5. With the recent beach expansion, there's even more shoreline to spread out and embrace your inner beach bum. Whether you're here to unwind in the shade or dig your toes in the sand, Oceanfront Park delivers. Highly recommend for locals and visitors alike!

On Memorial Day, there were several groups barbecuing and having parties at the picnic tables around the parking lot area. There were clean bathrooms and the beach was also free of litter. Unfortunately, there was quite a bit of seaweed and a bit of a drop down before getting to the water but overall very nice beach.

What is left of it makes for cramped seating unless you are willing to walk, which we did, but had we been with our in-laws it would not have been that easy. Also the stairs and walking path seems as if they are falling apart. Need some remediation and a good paint job. Positives are still showers and restrooms. And easy metered parking right across the street. Very sad to see.

I get that someone needs to be here to open it but this was a disappointment. Once I did find a spot to park, it was a nice walk through the mangroves and along the boardwalk over the dunes to the beach. I found a seat, probably trespassing from one of the communities but the chair was comfy. With my coffee in hand, I was here for over an hour as the Sun slowly came over the horizon. I was undisturbed. Other beachgoers walking back and forth but folks seemed to get my vibe and did not approach. There is a beached sailboat here since December. Maybe it's still here when you visit. It made for some fun photos. There is a bathroom facility and a beach shower and a picnic pavilion. Parking across the street requires feeding a meter. Don't forget that. It took forever for us to find parking, so we ended up doing valet near this beach. I was sunburnt from the day before so was on a quest to find an umbrella to rent. Thankfully, Oceanside rentals came in clutch with a $32 umbrella only all day rental. We liked this beach a lot because of the calm water. We also appreciated that there was less seaweed and calmer water than Boynton Beach's Ocean Front Beach Park. The surrounding green was gorgeous. Where we entered there was a giant pipe though that smelled a little like cigars, but we sat far enough away for it not too bother us too much. If you don't mind walking a bit for parking, this beach is a great pick.

Beyond the storks, I also saw a marsh rabbit, anhingas, several types of ducks, and even a Great Blue Heron just casually doing its thing. What makes this spot even cooler is that the wetlands are man-made, but they've become a thriving ecosystem--proof that nature finds a way when given the chance. It's free to visit, and there's plenty of parking. Even when it looks full, just be patient--spots open up quickly with people coming and going.
