Nick is able to diagnose very difficult problems, and is willing to take the time to do so but also charge a totally reasonable price. And your car *will* be fixed when all is said and done. Character and trust can be an issue with a car shop, but it is not one here. Nick's a nice guy too - a dyed-in-the-wool New Yorker. The downside is that you may (or may not) have to wait X number of days to get service depending on how busy the shop is since Nick's is locally very popular. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy too. But with car repair, lots of money and your safety can be at stake, so that inconvenience is a small price to pay.

The guys at the gas station told us that if we hung out by the gates, someone would open up for us to drive in... a little odd, but it worked. No one asked us any questions.. we just sauntered in, wandered around, got invited onto a house barge (AMAZING, I want to live on one!), and overall get very jealous at the itinerant lifestyle. The boatel wasn't anything to write home about, but I really enjoyed the experience of wandering around, sitting on the docks, and just enjoying the view, sun, quiet, and the company.
