Personal Care (Grade C): Aide was inflexible regarding scope of care, refusing basic help with a meal despite the patient's physical weakness. Emotional and Spiritual Support Counseling (Grade F): Minimal contact and zero emotional support. The social worker was dismissive, suggested the patient use briefs instead of the bathroom for caregiver convenience, and eventually stopped visits entirely, citing the VA as a reason to disengage. CNA's - Ashley Aragon, Patricia, Paula & Saleem - During their shift assigned to me, were attentive to my needs, checked on me regularly and made me comfortable. Acctivities Coordinators - Maylon & Ana were very helpful and provided the enjoyable experience. Physical/Ocupational Therapist - Lampert, Jesus, Darius, Delaney were forcused on my needs and attended to my recovery. I had a comfortable recovery period and was able to walk with a walker when I left the facility.

I complained at the office about this and her not getting daily PT (the reason mom was there). Next day, they released my mother who could not even use a walker to the bathroom. There were just a couple of things that didn't work well for my sister, and once the staff was told, adjustments were made in her care, making my sister more comfortable, both emotionally and physically. Once, when my cousin was at the nurses station, discussing a change that needed to be made, a doctor interjected some unpleasant comments from the sidelines. It was an isolated, one time occurrence. His behavior was completely out of character to every other person we encountered there. The nurse still listened, and the appropriate changes were made, to assure that my sister got care that was best for her needs. She was well cared for and never afraid there. On her final day, they treated the family with kindness and respect, and showed genuine compassion and caring at her passing. That was a week ago, and in that time, they've reached out to her son, with sympathy and compassion. We are abundantly thankful that we chose their facility for her to spend her final four months. I thank her care staff for helping to make a very difficult time as easy as it could have been. She had her favorite staff members, who she would joke back and forth with. I won't mention any names, for fear I might leave someone out, but one of the favorites or not, they were all kind to her. I give them my heartfelt thanks. Knowing what we know now, if we were back at the beginning of this four months, we would again choose Diamond Ridge.

I was panicking because I had no one to take her place. I had contacted several agencies in the past but I remembered Nikki Lopez at Caring Haven as being the most compassionate and sincere. I called her hoping she could send a temporary last minute replacement but all of her people were booked so she offered to personally fill in until my mother's caregiver returned. She arrived at my mother's aware of her exposure to Covid and knowing she would be sleeping in my mother's room. Nikki's own family gave their blessing because they knew my mother needed help. The day Nikki got there, my mother had to go to ER for dehydration and while there, she tested positive for Covid. The hospital sent her home because she had no fever or cough but two days later, she was admitted into the hospital for symptoms of Covid, dehydration and pneumonia. Nikki was prepared to, and wanted stay in the hospital room with my mother but Covid hospital regulations would not allow it. She visited my mother twice a day until the regular caregiver was able to return to work. Nikki continued to follow up on my mother after my mother returned home and still checks up on her regularly. Because of this, I am hiring one of Nikki's caregivers when my mother's regular caregiver retires in March. I am so impressed by Nikki and the level of care at Caring Haven, I would never go anywhere else again!
