Be warned this facility is infested with rodents and roaches. My mother is currently in the care of this facility living in these conditions. I saw a roach on my mother's bed, dresser and one coming out of a hole behind her bed. I first pointed this out to a nurse who then told me maintenance was in a meeting. I then demanded someone come address the roach issue immediately. There was no sense of urgency until I walked around telling other nurses what I saw asking for help. Eventually Fred the administrator and the housekeepers and maintenance showed up. I showed Fred the picture of the roach on the dresser knob and his response was," That's not a roach" !. I disagreed and he then instructed the maintenance and housekeeper to address the multiple issues ONLY IN MY MOTHERS ROOM. After they removed the dresser and chest I took pictures in front of the faculty of the mice droppings, mice traps with roaches in it, a pair of someone's old dentures and other trash that was there before my mother was admitted. Several holes in the walls, black mold around the sink and etc. *See pics*The social workers office was not interested in my concerns and refused to give me any contact information for the owner Yitzy. The uninterested rude social workers two women in the office today showed no concern over my mothers living condition. The polite social worker Sabrina was not in the office. Do not send your sickly family members to this place if you want them to be in a sanitary facility to fit there medical needs. The entire facility needs remodeling and intensive cleaning from wall to wall and visited by a large crew of exterminators. Health hazard! Please thoroughly check your loved ones living conditions in this facility. I saw a roach run out of my mothers room towards another resident door but a nurse stepped on it. This place needs to be visited by the health department and OSHA immediately. I feel horrible for the residents living in these conditions and the understaffed nurses working in this filth. This is extremely unhealthy, unsanitary and insane. Take pictures and report Autumn Lake at Bradford Oaks if you have witnessed anything similar. See pictures from today attached to this review that I also posted on all social media platforms 9/17/2024.

This place is no good I've been in my share of nursing homes and this is more like a jail setting then a nursing facility the staff is rude and when you ask them to do things for you because you are not permitted to leave your room they act like it's a big problem I will never come here again

I and the rest of my 91 year Mom's progeny are very grateful she decided to retire from New York…read more nearly ten years ago before Mom thought she was ready for a retirement community. She chose to buy into Collington Life Care Community http://www.collington.com/ [non-profit CCRC] in [Mitchellville/Bowie, Md] in suburban Washington, D.C. Right away Mom plunged into lots of activities, planted the garden around her gracious cottage, took exercise and literature classes from Prince Georges Community College, on Collington Campus, and made friends with other active retirees and the very caring staff. She didn't partake of birdwatching, vegetable gardening, swimming, nearby golf courses, and some other outdoor activities. She chose to take on leadership roles in the Collington community and delivered Meals on Wheels. http://keepingupwithcollington.org/ When she broke her hip she was received rigorous and effective rehab while temporarily resident in the health center. When we 'made her' give up her car she was able to get to the Metro, shopping, doctors' appointments, Kennedy Center, Arena Center, and more via the Collington shuttle. When she had a small stroke she again moved back to he health center to receive rigorous rehab. Now she is back in her cottage, this time with a few hours of aides to help keep up her activities. Now as we spend more time walking the halls and grounds with her it's so gratifying to encounter numerous friends among the residents and staff who cheer on her recovery. I wish such stimulating, safe, and nurturing communities would be accessible for the growing upcoming senior population.

She lived in a beautiful cottage where birdwatching, gardening, music, walking her dog and making new friends filled her days. Using Collington transportation she had season tickets for the opera, the symphony, Arena Theater as well as enjoying many other cultural events at Collington and beyond. My 3 siblings and I fell in love with Collington's embrace of our mother and willingness to allow us to fully participate in Mother's life. In many, many ways through the years it became obvious to us that Collington valued its residents and wanted to encourage family involvement. The fabulous Sunday brunches, instituted by the head of dining services, Eli Ayoub are one of many examples. On any given Sunday one sees dozens of families, including children, grandchildren, even great-grandchildren enjoying the brunch together, feeding ducks on the lake. In these past two years, after a nasty fall, our mother was confined to assisted living. The care she received on Chesapeake was always compassionate and respectful. We grew to love each and every one of her caregivers. Again, we were encouraged to be there as much as possible. When the final days arrived our large family did vigil for a week. Instead of encouraging us to limit our visits, Eli arranged for a large hospitality tray to be delivered outside

Maybe a hotel? Turns out, this event was hosted on the rooftop balcony party room of a...wait for it... senior living community. Huh??? This is not your average senior living community with the old carpet, weird smells, poor lighting and 1970s library furniture. No, no, no. This place is super upscale. Could easily be a new apartment building in some hipster neighborhood. Apparently they opened four months ago and they are in a marketing partnership with the Alexandria Chamber to help promote their facilities to seniors 62 and up. They have three restaurants, a game room, a movie theater, pools tables, wrap around panoramic city-view balcony, and a bunch of other stuff that would make anybody not be too upset to live here - regardless of age. The food was provided by the in-house chef, who made an appearance on season 2 of Pitmasters. He prepared some lobster rolls, quesadillas, and three signature drinks for all of us mixer guests. I went back several times for refills + more food, lol. They had a full bar too. Not that I plan to hang out here, but I wasn't mad at the networking, the views, or the food.

My mother is in the Memory unit at Kensington Park. She's getting very good care, around the clock…read more She likes the food a lot - much more than what her in-home caregivers used to prepare. There are musical performances and other cultural and healthful activities. It's difficult for anyone to adjust to a new environment, and even more so for an elderly person with dementia. The Kensington Park staff do their best to welcome and acclimate new residents - which, with the added problem of Covid, is a challenge. They are kind and attentive, dealing with irritability and other behaviors with grace and patience. The management is very open to communication from family members and every issue is addressed. Visits from family members are easily scheduled. It's a good place.

The only good thing I can say about this place is that the secretary on the 2nd floor was very helpful she gets an A+ for working in a place like this. Once again don't send your love one's here and if they are already there please go check on them on a regular basis.
