I moved here about a year ago and was looking for a…read moredentist and heard that Dr. Taylor was also a Mercer grad so of course I had to give them a try + they are only a few minutes from my apartament! ***LOCATION*** They are located in Dunwoody in a pretty convenient area near plenty of other businesses, if you have any other errands to run, there are shops not far, food, etc. It is easy to spot them from the road. They have plenty of parking in front of the building. ***ABOUT*** When you walk in, they have a nice waiting area where you can check-in and then wait for your apt. They have a little book about Dr. Taylor as well, if you want to learn more about your dentist! I was super impressed. I knew he was a Mercer grad as well, but also learned that he's a 3rd gen dentist (even more reassuring that he not only went to a great school of course lol but it runs in the family!), he also went to Augusta University's dental college and even got a full scholarship with the US Army and has been stationed in the US providing dental care for soldiers and also was deployed to Iraq. He still is in the GA Army National Guard and drills monthly in Marietta. Beyond all of that, he has a really impressive background, and has now opened his own practice in Dunwoody (luckily for us north Atlanta residents :) ***STAFF*** The staff are all so nice! My dental hygienist was so nice and did a great job cleaning my teeth! She was very easy to talk to and didn't awkwardly ask questions that would require a response while my mouth was open lol. In the past I feel the hygienists at other offices talk to fill the silence, but then they ask questions that you can't answer because you can't talk haha but she just talked naturally and only asked questions when she wasn't working on my teeth. Dr. Taylor is also amazing! I have only been to two other dentists in my life and they were okay, but I never really needed any dental work done before beyond general cleaning and xrays. I have never had braces and actually had my first cavity only recently. I got the first cavity filled 2 years ago by my former dentist and the filling eventually came out and then he had to refill and it not only wasn't filled in well but was also super painful, I could feel the drilling in my tooth and even the numbing shot - one was in the roof of my mouth and hurt worse than the drilling. Sooo when I found out I had 2 cavities again between two other teeth, during my cleaning and xrays at Dunwoody Dental, I told Dr. Taylor about my past experience with fillings. He was super nice and definitely makes you feel very comfortable. He listens and doesn't make you feel rushed. ***FILLINGS*** So I went in this morning for the filling. When I arrived, my hygienist was at the front and got me checked in, I didn't even have to remind her of my name. Then I was taken back right away and he went ahead and did a bit of extra numbing to be sure I wouldn't feel any drilling. Even with just the numbing he did an amazing job, I felt nothing! He put the topical numbing first, then did 2 shots. He didn't do one in the roof of my mouth like my former dentist and I was very grateful haha. Even on the side, it seemed like it went higher in my gum or something because I really felt nothing and in the past I thought my former dentist was stabbing my gum. Once my mouth was numb, he let me know we'd start and just told me to let him know if we need to stop and take a break or anything for any reason. Super reassuring - I swear my other dentist said just try to hang on so it'll be quick, which is super scary. Dr. Taylor drilled to get the cavity out and then filled it but the whole time he let me know what he was doing. He did it all soo quickly so I was really not stressed at all. Even the fact he let me know what he was doing was nice so I knew what to expect and not panic because I felt something. But I almost could barely feel anything - I only felt when he had to put pressure for a certain part but of course it wasn't painful. It was really the best experience I have had at a dentist and gave 0 reason to ever be nervous going back! ***OFFICE/INSURANCE*** I saw some very old reviews possibly from before he even owned the practice but they mentioned them not returning calls or accepting insurance but that is the farthest thing from my experience. When I was looking for a new dentist, I called them to make an appointment and they picked up right away, let me know my insurance was taken there - and they actually were the only ones that I called that took it. They also send text reminders leading up to your apt and when you make it. They even called to confirm my apt. They are very good at communicating and reminders and being responsive! ***CONCLUSION*** I could go on about how great they are but I don't have enough characters lol I just HIGHLY recommend them! You will feel super comfortable & they do such an amazing job!
