(working perfectly) They also adjusted my dyno-tune for a very reasonable price, as it wouldn't idle worth a crap when I got the car. On top of that, my Darton Sleeve came lose several weeks after getting my clutch installed. They re-wrapped the sleeve & got it back to me at no charge in just a few hrs. And, my idle was not quite right when it came time for A/C to be used, again, they tweaked my dyno-tune to accommodate the A/C compressor, also in just a few hrs time. I've gotten a lot of maintenance work done here. Throttle body cleaning, tires (alignment + balance…read more+ rotation), a serpentine belt and tensioner pulley. But after my check engine light came on for EVAP codes. I started to notice their lack of communication. The EVAP codes could be multiple things like a purge valve, vacuum switching valve, charcoal canister, hoses etc. I ordered a vacuum switching valve after some research and they said it was the wrong part. It wasn't the wrong part, because I just had it installed somewhere else, and the VSV already on there wouldn't click at all. So the part I previously ordered was the right buy. But old school wanted to put a new part in that they ordered. A vent valve. I had no issue. They're professionals they know what they're doing maybe my vent valve was faulty. But when I asked how they diagnosed that it was indeed a faulty vent valve. They wouldn't tell me. Keith said "you can't really tell if it's bad". So you're replacing a part that you're not sure I need? Sheesh could at least run the smoke test. Then trying to ask for more info about the part they're ordering and putting in my car, was a hassle. I felt like a nuisance. As a customer I shouldn't feel nervous asking about my car but they sound extremely annoyed talking to me. I'm at performance express and was just told I had a massive head gasket oil leak. Old school didn't catch that. Thank god I was able to catch it. But old school is good overall. Parts come in quick. Labor prices are pretty good. Just communication is meh. Chris is awesome tho.

It required a huge tear down to take out the left engine head and send it to a machine shop to extract two cross threaded bolts. I hired a local mechanic before to do the project, but he stopped working on it after tearing apart about 80% of the parts under the hood. I collected all of the parts and hundreds of screws/bolts in bags and towed the car to Old School Automotive. I thought it would be impossible to figure out where every screw and bolt goes when putting it back together. Somehow, Keith and his team of expert mechanics were able to solve the puzzle after pouring hours and hours into organizing all the parts to put back together. It's up and running like new again, and I couldn't be more blown away. There's nothing this team can't do. They were very detailed oriented and fixed what needed to be fixed, and left alone what didn't. It's not easy to pick up a project that you didn't start yourself. They were extremely fair and transparent with their service and pricing too. Whether you have a small job, or a massive project that requires reassembling the engine, Old School Automotive can do it. A good mechanic is like a good surgeon. I won't take my cars anywhere else (and I live 100+ miles away in Greenville, SC now).

Terrible experience I went in to have 3 tpms sensors…read morereplaced with my sensors An oil and filter change (8 quarts) with my oil and filter I supplied (2 5 quart jugs) And a tire rotation So first problem they dismounted tires to replace sensors and didn't re balance tires afterwards. Second problem they put 10 quarts of oil in my engine Severely over filling it and wasting two $20 (each) quarts of oil. Next they pull my truck out I go to pay and see one of the three tpms sensors I gave him on the counter so I asked if they replaced all three and salesman Robert tried to convince me I gave him 4 sensors and they replaced all 3 but unfortunately they couldn't activate them do to them using an autel tpms tool (all lies) I went outside and asked the tech and he said he only replaced 2 sensors and this is when I realized the tires weren't rotated either so literally everything I requested and paid for was either done incorrectly or just not done at all and then to be lied to on top of everything else by the "salesman Robert" I was less than happy. Luckily another tech Brandon stepped in and took care of everything the way it should have been done to start with, he installed the 3rd TPMs sensor rotated the tires and and activated the TPMs sensors he was polite and helpful and the only good thing about this place. Also while waiting inside I overheard Robert quote a woman $650 to replace rear brake pads on her car because the pads were getting close to needing replaced lol (highway robbery) This guy Robert is a joke and needs to go back wherever he came from I assume used car sales or calling people about a warranty that's expiring soon.

I got the tires replaced because it had been a while since I had done that. During my service, (which mind you I had created an appointment for at 10 am and they did not start servicing til late evening and did not finish until after hours), the front desk representative called me several times and notified me that I needed to replace my breaks. I had not noticed the breaks feeling faulty at all previously. Additionally, they told me I needed to service the car in other ways, which I had just previously had operated on. I opted out of the additional service and went to get a second opinion from a more reputable mechanic, the mechanic noted that my breaks were completely fine and did not need to be serviced at all. He showed me the exact measurement they use to determine how worn breaks are, and mine were adequate and in no need of replacement. This mechanic told me that people come to them from this Mavis location often with the same problem, one just recently being scammed upwards of two thousand dollars for work that was not necessary. Not to mention, they charged me for a windshield wiper replacement and after checking out, the mechanic noticed that the Mavis staff had not even replaced the wipers. They almost charged me for an additional service they did not even complete. Save yourself and your pocket and DO NOT go to this Mavis location. The staff is extremely deceiving and will try and act nice to try and seem like they have your best interest. ESPECIALLY if you are a young woman, I noticed while I was there the staff seemed to engage more thoughtfully with us in what seemed like an effort to manipulate us. Please seek out local mechanics and read reviews to see who is trustworthy. Do not go to this Mavis.

I was simply going to say "If you need anything related to tires, GO HERE" but figured I should…read moreelaborate. It's not difficult to find, but the 12th Street/ Charleston highway/ Augusta road area requires some attention. Be aware of one way streets when you are leaving as well. Again, just pay attention and you won't have a problem. There is limited parking in front of the office, but they have a large area along the street. Their work area is a large covered carport. There were several customers already in the waiting area. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door even though the manager was on the phone. I have always appreciated acknowledgement of my physical presence over a phone conversation. When he finished with the call, he immediately asked what I needed. My vehicle was pulled into a bay within 5 minutes of my walking in. It took about 40 minutes until the work was completed. While there, on the order of 10 customers walked in. Several were obviously regulars known by name. A couple did get out before me, but their work was very simple. I did not feel I was being pushed aside in favor of others. Once my work was completed, I was given my keys and was able to quickly complete the transaction. No waiting for someone at the counter. I was also given information on overall condition of my tires and what to watch for. They did not try to sell me anything I did not need, and did not give me any dire warnings if I didn't buy something else. This is what local shops (or any store for that matter) should strive to be. A place giving straight information and making sure their customers are treated right.
