The advice we received from teachers at school to read more at home didn't seem to be helping, and my husband and I though often about holding her back a year to "catch up". After her initial assessment, we felt, for the first time, that our daughter had actually been seen. They were able to identify the very specific areas she was struggling, so we quickly had a plan to help her develop the skills she needed to bring her up to grade level. It was comforting to know we were investing our time helping her in the areas she needed it most. 3 years later, our girl is thriving in school. It's so much fun to see things click for her as she accesses the tools she's acquired at GradePower. She now loves to read and will even read out loud in church or class, and feels confident amongst her peers. We are SO grateful to RAD. Our daughter was (finally) diagnosed with dyslexia right around her 8th…read morebirthday. Sherry and Tim were the ones who recommended places we could take her for an evaluation. We started our daughter working virtually (thanks to the pandemic) with Tim 2 hours each week starting in September 2020. By January she had made more progress with her reading than she had in the previous three years of school (she had been stuck at a kindergarten level). It is now March 2021 (6 months of tutoring) and by my estimate she has progressed at least a full grade level if not more. I do everything I can for my kids, but teaching a dyslexic kid how to read is not something I am equipped to do. I don't have the knowledge, training, skill set or experience. I put my trust in Sherry and Tim to do what I could not for my daughter and they have not let us down. With their help, she has hope of becoming a fluent reader and writer, of obtaining a skill she will need throughout her life. Highly recommended!
