We had a lawyer look at our IEP and it was described as one of the best he's ever seen. We wouldn't have gotten there without Kristy. Beyond the document, she's great at helping us make sure the team follows the IEP. Without her I can't imagine where we would me.

I paid Kristi a flat fee to work with us. She had explained that this would cover unlimited phone calls, emails, meetings, etc until the IEP process was completed. Unfortunately, Kristi was really busy handling many IEPs and didn't have the time to return phone calls, emails or even texts. We didn't communicate often, but when I did reach out, I would have to re-email or re-text to ask if she had seen the email or text. The amount of work she put into my son's case was extremely disappointing. I had been messaging her leading up to the scheduled IEP date to discuss the paperwork the school had sent me with no response. She literally called me ON HER WAY to my son's school the day of the meeting to go over everything quickly with me. During the meeting, it was apparent that she hadn't already read the IEP as she said she would, and was "winging it". This was far different than she had originally advertised what this experience and process would be like. In hindsight, I really wish I had used the other advocate I had in the past... I would have saved money and received better help in the process. When I brought my concerns up with Kristi regarding the lack of time and effort she had spent on my son's case and asked for a refund of some of the fee, she was short with me and offered a very small amount back. Even that took much prodding and reminding for her to actually process the small refund. I would be careful if using her services and perhaps get the scope of work down in writing. Also, be prepared to do the heavy-lifting yourself.

Then I found Silke! A master of her craft, always smiling, Silke's warm, friendly demeanor is contagious. Silke knows how to conduct her classes so you leave feeling like you have been wonderfully challenged, supported, entertained, encouraged and improved. Now with a strong understanding of the grammar and structure, I am able to form sentences and sing in German! Yay! I will continue to study with Silke because I can see how quickly she has helped me improve! I recommend Silke to anyone curious about learning German. She is the best!!!! Viel Spaß!

After searching for a local German class for conversation, I tried Silke's, but left in discomfort after just 6 of 10 classes. She made judgements and personal comments on students (appearance, background) and asked questions about their home and personal life, which she used later in criticism and nasty, be- littleling comments in the guise of teaching German! Fun in the class was generally what she made of you. Her negative commentary escalated when a student was absent from class or from 'treffin', a supposedly voluntary activity . Her teaching method involved joy at pitying students (schadenfreude) as a supposed motivator. Perhaps this is her attorney training, but it caused the class to be very cautious in responding to her and inhibited exchange. She has her pet students also (oddly, not based on ability), and this tended to polarize class interaction. The class is held in a small room off her foyer that holds 5-6 people and becomes overheated quickly. She shouts when excited during instructing and correcting students, and this felt more like a prosecutor's interrogation than a class. This class is a price-premium, classical European experience from a former century. The teaching method relies strongly on manipulation and intimidation. Perhaps, it requires more than a teacher's ego to instruct effectively? Caveat Emptor....

My tour with Mz. Kim's daycare left me with a bad first impression. It was once again reminded why…read moreI didn't want my son to go to an in-home daycare. Two things bothered me from this whole experience: 1. My son who's teething picked up a toy and put it in his mouth (as do all children in the 9 month stage). When I said "Oh, sorry. Is that ok?" (Given we weren't clients yet). She indicated it wasn't and she doesn't let the children in her care do that. None of the other daycares I had gone to even with COVID-19 going on had a problem with this. They are simply more diligent with wiping toys down before another child picks it up. 2. We are people of color and due to everything going on in the media we just wanted to make sure our son would be going to a loving daycare. We also just moved from a very diverse environment to being one of the only Latinos on our block. So naturally, I was wondering if my son would interact with different ethnicities and cultures and learn and grow from them. When I asked about the ethnicities of the other children she immediately (without even thinking about it) said "oh, gosh I don't know. I don't think about that" which meant two things to me. One being she's privileged. To not have to think about these issues is privilege. Two, she doesn't have culture awareness and should probably take a course in this subject. She did state, " I have an Asian kid, but god I don't know specifically what type of Asian" which to me further signifies she doesn't understand or probably doesn't even try to learn about this child's culture. So I'm sitting there wondering if this is even a safe place for my son (given the other 5 star ratings). Once again scared of sending him to an in-home daycare. I know I probably shouldn't generalize other in-home daycares , but as a mother I just can't allow my son to attend a place where his culture wouldn't be understood.

I would drop my child off at opening time and felt that bothered Kim. I had picked up my child a few times earlier than usual and loud drums playing upstairs could be heard. My child started to have an aversion to a play-pin after care here and I believe it was due to my child being left in a play pin for long periods of time. After a few weeks my child would cry when we pulled up to her house and my gut told me this is not a good fit. I went to pick my child up and they had a bruise around the eye. I gasped in dismay and was speechless. No phone call ahead of time to let me know. When I asked what happened the story didn't add up. I knew then I would have to take a leave at work immediately as my child was not safe in her care. I took my child to the doctor that day to document it. I felt compelled to let others know of our experience. Always go with your gut feeling.

Julie is an outstanding tutor who quickly understands what parents are looking for and responds to those needs right away. The other instructors are also professional, kind, and supportive. We've had such a positive experience that we're planning to try the English classes this summer too. I'm hopeful my child will enjoy them just as much as the math sessions. Highly recommended.

It seems the "teachers" are too concerned with everything else going on around them. It is a terrible location for a learning center. We have decided to move my nephew to a center with more experience and accessibility for children that really need help. It is unfair to keep this place open. It sickens me that this has been going on for so long. I have spoken with multiple parents on social media that have had similar experiences. There are many more options available to assist your child that will actually treat them as they should be treated. I recommend you look into other centers for their sake.
