I came in during a stressful situation -- new to Colorado Springs, living out of my car, and facing a repair I couldn't afford before starting a new job. I took my 2017 Chevy Traverse to this Brakes Plus - 2467 Marksheffel Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80951- for a "mooing" noise and a power steering leak. They repaired the leak, but it came back within a few weeks. When I returned, they said it was fixed, but halfway home my car started shaking so violently I barely made it back to my house. They later admitted they had forgotten to reinstall a valve, and they replaced the power steering pump at no charge. The noise never fully went away and slowly got worse. When I finally took my car to the dealership, they found the power steering hose had been routed incorrectly--sitting on top of where it should have been and pressed against the heat shield. The hose was also bent, which could cause air in the system and add to the noise. They also found two missing brackets, and the pump still needed to be replaced. I ended up paying a significant amount out of pocket to fix problems that should not have existed. The staff at Brakes Plus were friendly, and I do think they tried, but the repeated mistakes and incorrect repairs caused more damage and more expense than I started with. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend this location. read more

Requested a brake service, cabin filter replacement, and a brake flush for my wife's vehicle. Used an online coupon and saved just over 10%. Her vehicle was picked up same-day, and this was all done without an appointment. Brakes Plus was able to have her car serviced for 22% of what a nearby competitor was quoting us, and without adding a bunch of unnecessary services to the bill. We'll be back! read more

Never before have I been so astounded by a good bunch of staff. I came in thinking my brakes were giving out. It was showing the signs. After the drop off, I was called to be informed my brakes were not the issue, it was a bunch of major suspension parts. This jumped the price up extremely. However, working with Aaron and Josh, both helped lowered the price significantly while throwing in some free bushings/wipers and a few other goodies that kept me happy. They kept me updated the entire day letting me know what was going on and what parts they were picking up. They even took care of two lug nuts I couldn't get off in the rear. When I returned the next day regarding a minor missing part (the wipers) they jumped on it quickly to redeem themselves. Never have I ever seen service like this, they even offered to keep the old parts so I could see the issues the vehicle was having. They were extremely helpful and I even got the car back to me before the end of the day which is exactly when I would need the vehicle again. Thank you to both Aaron and Josh! read more

I took my car in to have the brakes looked at and they did a free inspection and shared the results with me and I beleive honestly told me what was needed. I did not have enough for the premium brake service but had I had enough money, I would spend it here . About an hour and ten minutes later I was checked out and had my brake service completed. as soon as I drove my car . It was like a new car lol I'm not exxagating, my car needed new front brakes bad! Was told by a repair shop that I needed new front brakes on my 2019 truck. Estimate exceeded $500. Took it to this Brakes plus location for a second estimate. Their estimate was $0.00.... Their opinion was that no service at all was needed...Also watched Jamie at the front counter do a skillful job of calmly but firmly setting boundaries and deescalating an extremely inappropriate customer. When we usually go to car shops for any type of repair or check up any customer always wants one thing, THE TRUTH about if their vehicle is really in need of service or not. I have to say, I came here under the impression that my brakes and rotors needed to be replaced ( I don't know much about cars) but I did just get them replaced a month ago. The service advisor took my vehicle in the shop to do a courtesy check on all functions and see what's the issue was. Apparently, after an hour of them doing their diagnostic my vehicle did not need any brakes or rotor repairs and that they were in really great condition. I was concerned because I did travel across the country form the East Coast and wasn't sure if they needed checked or replaced. but they did recommend a shock and something the next 20,000 miles or so. They could've easily told me to replaced my brakes and rotors just to have me as business but instead honesty and truth prevailed. I'm so thankful for honest people as I wasn't in a position to spend about $300-$400 dollars at this time. The next time my vehicle needs service, I will bring it here. Not to mention the courtesy check was FREE!! For those who were wondering if I was charged anything for their time. read more

all this company does is try and take your money. they treat their employees like garbage and they WILL take advantage of you. services they provide are way overpriced. on top of that they mess up about 50% of the jobs they do. so if you want to go back 20 times a year for one service, this is the place for you. read more

I brought my car in for squeaky brakes and hasnt been fixed yet. Been back a few times to get resolved but wasn't getting any answers. I think they inspected my car after the fourth time bringing it in and found a possible issue that I will need to check. Unless you have an issue that is easy to fix, you might have to come in a few times in order to get a right answer. read more

Do yourselves a favor and avoid Brakes Plus like the plague. Took our car for a simple AC compressor replacement, and within 48 hours of their work, we have a broken head gasket, major oil leaks, broken tensioner pulley, O2 sensors that need work, broken crank shaft, harmonic balancer..... none of that even includes the shards of molten rubber and metal bits getting sucked into the engine now. We have to do a $4k job JUST TO GET IT CLEANED OUT ENOUGH to see what FURTHER damage may have been done. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but when we came to them initially saying our car was running funny, if these things were already broken, maybe the mechanics should've mentioned it. Nope, simple AC compressor. Just like the mechanics said that we took it to BEFORE brakes plus... hindsight, we should've paid the extra $300 to use that mechanic instead..... Correct me if I'm wrong, but maybe when we had the car towed back to them after the misaligned serpentine belt shredded in our engine, maybe they should've told us about all of these things THEN. But you know what's funny? They still didn't. Instead, they pulled out handfuls of serpentine belt scraps, slapped on a new belt, and told us it was good to go! Still nope. We immediately turned it on, heard it still running funny, brought it to the GM's attention who assured us it would be taken care of as well as any other issues caused by the incident. We have not had the car in our possession since it got towed back to Brakes Plus. Brakes plus drove it all over town, however, driving it back and forth to BMW, wont cover a rental or any repairs, and we have at least 4k to pay before we can even know for sure what ELSE needs fixing. The best part? They've both admitted fault AND claimed their mechanics are not qualified to inspect European cars. But they wont fix their mistake. A simple mistake. CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG, but if your mechanics are not qualified, they should not have touched our car to begin with, should not have told us it was good to go after the belt was replaced, should not have told us it would be safe to drive for a week until BMW could get it in for an inspection (thank god we didnt) and should REALLY not be saying so confidently that the damage could not be caused by their work. Newsflash, if you didn't catch a broken head gasket at our initial inspection, then either your mechanics are definitely not qualified, or IT WASNT BROKEN. Either way, it's their fault. I dont pay money to see professionals so I can accrue more debt. I trust professionals because I need professionals because I cannot do these repairs myself. Lesson learned? Brakes Plus does not employ professionals. Their "expertise" is not worth your money, time, your livelihood; an AC compressor is not worth buying a whole new vehicle. At least, it shouldn't be . Yeah. Do yourselves a favor. DO NOT EVER go to Brakes Plus. read more

I took my car in to have my brakes replaced witch came out good but messed up my after market rims by using an Impact on the bolts that go to my rim inserts witch need to come off in order to remove the center piece to get to the tire. Instead of taking the time out to do it by hand they stripped all of the bolts witch now the rim inserts will not come off. When they were done with my breaks they left a note in my car saying if I were you I would remove the black rim insert witch I thought was a little weird at the time but found out quick but the hard way when I got a flat tire. At that time my husband checked all the tires and sure enough they were all stripped. I only had those rims for not even a year so sad to say 4,400 dollars down the drain because now I can't even remove the rim inserts if I wanted to. I am extremely disappointed and it makes me not want to take my car in to have it serviced again because it goes to show how people don't care about your vehicle. I give them a one star because they got the brakes accomplished. read more

Easy, in and out. Went in for a break fluid flush after the dealership said it was "critical." I'm not sure how critical is was but they saved me $110 that the dealership said it would cost. The service took about 45 minutes and they didn't try to sell me on any random things or suggest I do other maintenance. read more

I have used brakes plus for years. Last year they charged to refill my AC and said there wasn't a leak. 3 weeks later it wasn't working again. I went to another shop who told me the compressor needs to be replaced. The guy I made the appointment with at brakes plus said I don't need another diagnostic test done and that they will replace. I get there and the lady who did my intake said they won't touch my car unless they do yet another diagnostic test. I'm willing to spend $1000 to replace the compressor but they won't do it until the nickel and dime me. Taking my business elsewhere. I will never use brakes plus again. read more

These guys are usually a bit slow but today takes the cake. Made a 9am appointment, got to the shop 5 minutes early and an HOUR later my car still sat in the parking lot. I set an appointment to have a Cadillac Escalade have its transmission fluid flushed, filter changed, and the brake fluid flushed. They were timely, friendly and very detail oriented. They also informed me of some other minor problems that were observed during the service. The price was outstanding. Several businesses were charging as much as two hundred dollars more for the identical service I will be back. read more

After driving away from this place I was called back by the front desk - they had neglected to tighten the lug nuts "to torque spec." Went back and based on how many turns were taken on each nut I doubt they were originally put on anything more than finger tight. As I was outside walking to my car the manager came out to offer an apology from the door. I'd recommend one of many other businesses for getting brake work in the Co Spgs area. read more

Nick was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and upfront about costs unlike some other shops and definitely more transparent than the dealership on woodman was (if you've dealt with them you know who I mean and what). Literally 25% cheaper than other places with same quality if not more so because the value added by staff like nick who are upfront about diagnosing the issue, pricing, options and discounts along with time frame are incredibly valuable in this town riddled with potholes. They also have a courtesy shuttle and they communicate when to expect your car to be done. All of this was appreciated when I had to get my brakes done for the first time on my car and alleviated a lot of the stress of finding a reliable and honest shop- they let me see the rotors and brakes unlike other places that refused to. I'm just v happy they did a great job especially since I commute for now to DTC and Boulder for work. Until I move v this will be my new go to shop. read more

Went in to have my brakes checked because I could feel one of my brakes was grinding. Went in at 4:40pm this afternoon and they were able to fit me in and took care of everything. I no longer live in Colorado Springs, but wanted to give Brakes Plus a review for all the times I brought in my Honda Accord. Usually it was just for an oil change and tire rotation. The staff was always friendly and helpful, and never once was I told that I "needed" new equipment that wasn't actually needed. One time they did recommend new brakes, and brought me out to see my car on the lift with the tires off so I could actually see that the brake pads needed replacement. In my mind, it doesn't get better than that, pure honesty from the mechanic. I also brought my car in once because the battery was acting up. They did a bunch of electrical tests, ended up recharging the battery, and then gave me the keys and said "no charge, because they really didn't do anything." I was shocked! If I still lived in CO Springs, there's no other place I would bring my car. Great service all around. read more

You would be better off using YouTube and buying the parts yourself to fix anything that this terrible store offers. I recently had work done here, but my vehicle left in much worse condition then when it arrived. I paid for new brake parts that were listed as "premium" on the receipt, only to learn by my own inspection, that the same brake parts that I had previously installed myself were just reused. So I was scammed out of $100 worth of parts I never received. This store has terrible customer service. They get frustrated when you ask reasonable and logical questions. They will treat you like you don't have a clue about anything about cars. You're much better off going and doing it yourself or going to a small business mechanic who won't screw you over. You'd be better off asking a toddler to fix your brakes. I would give them a 0/5 if I could but I think 1/5 is pretty clear. Don't ever get work done by brakes plus. They are con artists. read more

Millions of stores will do that especially when we've spent so much money there over 5 years.
