No professional cleaners have been employed there for 5+ years despite the school being in a rundown very dirty area of Toronto (Sherbourne & Dundas). No security to protect students from unwanted drug users and homeless coming into the school who often deficate and urinate right in front of the school's entry way. Plus a bed bug infestation due to very unsanitary conditions. Very old equipment and school setting, washrooms flooding, and so much more to name like no wifi for students. He tried to dry wet and dry hair together, pulling on fragile bleached hair, and breaking them, and pulling the whole time with this brush that I tried to be polite and withstand as much as I could. But I couldn't take it anymore, I was getting a headache from all this hair pulling. So I politely told him I'm going to finish the rest at home. He told me I was being disrespectful, and should let him continue to tear the rest of my hair out. I left! I should also let you know that they have no interested in keeping up with health and safety protocols. The receptionist come to speak to me after one of the managers spoke to me about having my coffee and a bite to eat. Yes my mask was down, while I was snaking with no one around me. But I was just spoke to by one of the managers, then again with the receptionist, who asked to take my cup away and put it somewhere else. The appropriate thing to do was to either ask me to put it in a designated zone when I come in, or request that I go finish it and come back. Not put your dirty little hands on it then expect me to drink it after. She threw out my coffee, after badgering me. Terrible customer service! I called back to discuss this and have it fixed. Their response was you might have to pay to get this done. I'm definitely not going back to this farm house. The beginning of the service was good but they were trying to rush through all the services and as a result, my manicure has already chipped a day after my visit here since they were doing my nails mid-air and missed a lot of areas that I even asked them nicely to fix up. Although most of the students were very nice, I was not treated nicely by the receptionist nor the main manager. They interrupted me during my services and spoke rudely to me about some personal matters that was a grossly inappropriate tone and time to talk to any customer. The owner/supervisor had even scolded and lectured one of the students in the middle of my service. She had no sense of professionalism in her workplace, when customers are trying to relax. The services I received were mediocre and the customer service of the main owner ruined it for me. I would never go back here.

Miss Anita herself started the haircut to show the student how it's done and periodically came up to check on her even though she was busy with her own client. After looking at the pictures I had brought to show what I wanted she gave me good advice and suggestions as to what would work on me and what won't. End result was amazing! I loved my haircut and it cost less than $30! But the thing that stood out the most was the outstanding customer service! Definitely recommend and will be going back:)

Maybe she was rushing? I have a wedding to go to and I'm feeling in the worst shape ever - a huge scab has developed on my face. She also spilled wax IN my hair, very careless. I paid EXTRA for a wax that's supposed to be good for sensitive skin because I didn't want to risk skin tearing. I know it's normal to have a small amount of skin tearing, but I have never had this experience before. Save your money. I paid about $80 including a tip and for a wax meant for sensitive skin. I'm also still plucking because there's still a ton of hair left. What a joke. Editing this review to add: I went BACK to the location to request a refund. I did NOT get a refund and the owner instead told me that I could get store credit - I'm sorry but who in their right mind would come back after such a bad experience. I had a wedding to attend the day after the wax, and I was mortified. I have NEVER had such an experience with waxing. The business has responded to the review basically blaming me for using "anti-aging" products. I use a Clarins moisturizer before bed - and it is not an "anti-aging cream". I'm sorry to say, the business owners are blatantly lying to you. I have NEVER seen such poor customer service, nor have I seen such a dishonest business policy. Honestly when my girlfriend recommended Van I was skeptical to say the least and thought I was going into something shady cause you know, it's in-home and crazy things happen! Upon entering her studio what I found was unexpected. Van's small business is hands down the best place in Mississauga to get waxed/sugared and I will continue going back to her whenever I visit Toronto. Here's why: 1) Safe - She is the sweetest, soft-spoken, cute, humorous individual EVEERRR omg you know all I was thinking was "I hope this person isn't a weirdo" but thank the Lord she is safe, cool, and has two cute pugs. I'm scared of dogs but they're pretty cute hehe She was pregnant when I got my sugaring so I can't wait to see her baby when I come back! 2) Clean - If equipment and room is dirty I am OUT. BUT thankfully Van has high expectations with cleanliness and comfort. Using plastic gloves, face mask, trading out waxing sticks when using hard wax, etc. Walls are clean, pinted a cute muted baby color with educational posters about sugaring and waxes. Table you lay on is clean and comfy laid out with white paper. There are seats for others guests if you bring a friend. Floors were clean and nothing was dusty. 3) Professional - This girl keeps things professional. Provides the service and doesn't push you to do anything else. 4) Knowledgeable - She creates her own wax (a more dense kind and a soft kind) which is crazy bc I don't know how she mixes it but it lessens the pain when she sugars. Seriously. I get sugared every 3-4 weeks so I know what pain is. 5) Quick, Efficient, Detailed. "Leave no hair behind," That should be her motto bc I was so satisfied with her service. Hope this helps
