The installer for my Brandguard vents did a terrific job explaining what the vents were and how they worked and what they look like, as well as listening to my concerns before he even had a chance to measure the job. Then when the vents were produced, he was already to install them and actually spray painted the vents to match as close as possible to the existing stucco or surrounding wood area. He did a nice job of keeping everything clean and neat. My house is 2 story, and it required a lot of going up-and-down a very tall ladder, but he was done in a very short amount of time. I'd recommend Brandguard to anyone if they're they live close to a fire zone. As a lifelong resident of Southern California and a retired firefighter of over 36 years in the San Diego city area, I experienced and lived through the devastating 2003 and 2007 wildfires here locally. During those two fires, I personally experienced how embers from the fire, travel in the air and impact homes and buildings through via the attic/gable vents. I observed while we were fighting fire at a Rancho Bernardo condominium complex as embers traveled through the air, and went through the attic vents and started the condominium building on fire.. My home was eligible for a grant to replace existing vents with ember-resistant vents. Brandguard was one of the recommended companies and I believe the only one that offered to handle all of the county permit paperwork. I had them come out for an estimate. It was about double what the grant would cover, but they quickly offered to split the work in half, to do some now & the rest next year if the grant was still in effect. I an't speak to the efficacy of the vents (and hope I never can, since that would mean fire had reached my house), but the new vents are certainly very aesthetically pleasing. I recently had my home attic vents replaced with Brandguard vents. The Brandguard vents are patented and are designed to prevent wild fire embers from entering the attic. A friend of mine is involved with local fire fighters and told me these vents are top of the line, and excellent design. Because I live in a wild fire area, which is considered to be a higher risk area, I decided to add additional wild fire protection to my home. Although my home has a sprinkler system installed through out the house, including the attic, the installation of these vents adds a significant layer of protect for my home. Dangerous Install. Terrible Customer Service. Had Brandguard install vents on our house which is in a Very High Fire Danger Area.  Told them to pay particular attention to several vents that are most likely to be subject to ember storms.  After they left it appeared 2 of these vents were not done.  I sent pictures but was assured that the vents had been done.  After I called Brandguard and explained the problem no one got back to me for A WEEK AND A HALF.  Had to STOP PAYMENT on the credit card.  THEN they came out and LOW AND BEHOLD I was right and 2 of the critical vents hadn't been done. Had to pay $300 for them to come out and fix it. Like selling bulletproof vests with big holes in them and not telling the buyer.  I have to wonder how many other houses are out there that don't have the protection they think they have. read more

We received a Grant that would pay for the installation of vents that would prevent our home from embers/ashes and to prevent fires from travelling through vents in our home. We contacted two vendors to obtain quotes for the vents and the first sales representative we met did not appear to know anything about vents; in fact she said we might have three vents that we could ask to have covered;however according to the second vendor we had approximately 50 vents. I spent approximately one-half hour with the representative who was very nice but knew absolutely nothing about vents!After meeting with the first vendor, I contacted Brandguard vents and spoke with Kelly, one of the owners of the company and immediately liked her. Kelly was very pleasant and was very knowledgeable about vents, fire mitigation and how to protect our home. Kelly explained the products, how the free evaluation/quote works and she also explained how/why the product was developed , and said her husband Brent is a firefighter and he and she developed the product and they work together to install vents.
