Margery is the instructor .. she lives her life with intention...which adds to the authenticity of her teachings and of svaroopa yoga. There are many styles of yoga....I started going because of a fibromyalgia diagnosis and through the years my pain has decreased remarkably. I feel better now than I did 8 years ago and I am giving thanks to Margery and svaroopa yoga. It appears to be a "gentle yoga"....but the results prove otherwise to me. Having a standard of practice in your home definitely tells me svaroopa gives you results.....just give yourself the time and committment you will be proud and happy of the results!

The paperweight had to cool down overnight so I had it shipped home and just received it today - it's the best souvenir. Two years ago I "got serious" about my yoga practice and joined Otter Creek Yoga. It's been an amazing and joyful experience. I usually take classes with Jen or Johanna, because my interest is in Iyenger, and I cannot recommend them highly enough! I'm incredibly impressed with their high level of of knowledge. Their teaching is skillful, and each student gets plenty of personal attention. And at OCY you don't have to commit to one style of practice only. On any day you can "mix and match," satisfy your curiosity, try a fresh approach--and find a class to fit your schedule or your mood. Both the students and teachers take the work--but not ourselves--seriously. The studio is beautiful, the atmosphere serene and definitely not competitive, even though we do work hard. And there's plenty of room for laughter and a cup of Johanna's famous tea after class. Whether you're absolutely new to yoga or a long-time serious student, I think you'll feel at home here. What makes this studio superior is, basically, the teachers and the students. Christine is a natural teacher; patient, incisive, caring. And she knows her anatomy as well as any doctor; she'll take a quick look at your posture, and then correctly guess that you took a 3-mile hike up a steep grade two days ago. The she'll suggest a subtle workaround for those tight calves. And the students: they're serious. Most of them are regulars, and the atmosphere once class begins is one of concentration (but not solemnity; there's regular bouts of laughter, incited mostly by christine). Throw in a lovely, light-drenched studio with views of the green mountains, a few friendly dogs, and $110 for a 10-class pass, and you've got the best yoga studio in the state.
