After it reopened, the reservation system was a plus. Pool locker rooms are dark. Using the bathroom feels like being locked in a coffin. Pool is downstairs, but spinner for wet bathing suits is upstairs, with no handicap access. This place is not handicap friendly at all. There is a long, long narrow walkway on a steep incline as the handicap access. This is impossible to navigate in a wheelchair due to the steepness of the incline. There is also no handrail to help those with shortness of breath or balance issues. The one time I used the ramp, no one responded to open the door, which is locked. It is also not covered, which is a problem when it is raining, in the off chance that someone may actually answer the door. After being open for a couple of months, they closed again, but once again were asking members to keep paying dues to reduce the burden on the club. If you have mobility issues, especially with navigating stairs, avoid this place at all costs. How this facility ever passed on ADA compliance is a complete mystery to ne

The combination of excessive quantities of chlorine and the pool's ridiculously high temperature causes problems for many users. Unfortunately my partner and I made a year commitment before we knew this, which is our fault. Don't make the same mistake. Additionally the social atmosphere of the regular workout room is bizarre. Due to space limitations the work out equipment has to share space with the weight lifting room. This includes a lot of weight lifting dudes standing around staring and having the kind of conversations I'm more comfortable hearing secondhand at a bar. The women's workout room, no doubt developed in direct reaction to this scenario, is small but sufficient. Tennis aficionados may like this place for its popular indoor courts. It seems to be the most significant feature of the Berlin location. We changed our membership to the Montpelier First in Fitness which has no pool and no courts but a better floor plan and location.

What a great start.. and yet horrible finish…read more Craig is an excellent representation of what a gym how a gym should be operated. Great gym awesome spa good people. However my closure to the gym membership was not pleasant. Ruth was not a fun call. I was told that the gym needs 15 days notice to deactivate a gym membership so I will be billed again. ANOTHER 59.00. I mean come on this is why people are hesitant to go to a gym. So in closing the cancelation fees was just sad. and I would not recommend this family owned gym .

I had several people tell me their experiences at this gym, specially if you are a person of color ,YOU ARE NOT WELCOME here !!! However you as a consumer have a simple choice, go to the other gym in town and don't give this people your money. They feel like because they have a pool they get to hold that over their customers and people have to continue to take their lack of customer service and dirty space with a weird machine layout. Their treadmills are not great either. I had been going to the other gym in town and only gave this place a shot because I moved and this one is closer but guess what I don't swim so I could care less and I am happy to drive 5 more minutes to a gym where they provide actual customer service.

SHARC is Sugarbush ski mountain's little-known sidekick, which has been around for a million years…read more At some point, I think it may've been rebranded as the Sugarbush Health and Recreation Center -- the road signs say Health and Racquet Club; the website says Health and Recreation Center -- but it's still SHARC and it's still exactly the way it was 15 years ago. The space is not shiny new, and it's not fancy. At this point, it almost has a certain retro charm. We like it because it's an island of non-pretentious, semi-normalcy amidst the sometimes very high end resort towniness of the rest of the Sugarbush enterprise. This is just a plain ol' place with plain ol' people. The facilities are about on par with a YMCA. I understand there's some angst at the child mobs that take over when the weather isn't well suited for skiing. We try to be as civilized as possible with our children, but still get stinkeye from some staff. I understand the angst, and on the other side of the equation, I might share it. Children (including mine) are sometimes loud and obnoxious, the adolescent girls we shared the locker room with did leave an extraordinary amount of water on the floor. I did not enjoy being on the receiving end of angst. The staff does make sometimes heroic efforts to keep the place clean, though thoughtless patrons track grit into the pool and and locker room areas by wearing street shoes. Sometimes there's flotsam in the pool that I wish wasn't there. One day I was thoughtfully offered two towels per person, one for the pool and one for the shower, after; the second day, I received one and some attitude when I asked for a second. The range of child-accessible activities is great: There's an adventure zone set up with two bouncy castles (one a bit dark and sketchy), a bungee jumping station (for an additional fee), ping pong, tennis, basketball and tennis areas. There's a decent climbing wall available for an additional fee, as well, and we hear it comes with instruction if you want it. The sign in the climbing room said children over 1 year old were welcome to partake, though I think the website restricted the activity to children over 3 years old. Officially, the adventure zone and climbing wall are not open until 3 p.m. -- but there seems to be some flexibility in start times, especially on days when skiing is not at its best. For adults, the facilities include a cardio exercise room, a weight room, a classroom for pilates and yoga, a spin studio. The cardio room is open to the reception area, which I personally find unpleasant since I like to gasp, wheeze and sweat with greater privacy. Near the reception area, there are swim suits, swim diapers, goggles, etc... for sale if you forget your own, and light snacks (Cliff bars, other bars, water and juice), at non-exorbitant prices IIRC. If you have children and you don't want to schlep to Burlington for Get Air or the Upper Valley Aquatics Center near Hanover, SHARC is overall a great option for folks to get some of the sillies out when temperatures fall below -25 F on the mountain (or when it's 70 F in February). Could it be better? Yep. But we're glad it's there in any form.
