Mark is the man. His dad owned the store and he grew up in it. Now he runs it. It would be hard to find someone who knows more about the hobby. I am into r/c cars and there is no better place in CT, that I know of, for parts and other supplies. If he doesnt have it, he will get it. Quick too. Prices are great. Always willing to teach you how to fix your r/c stuff, He will fix it for you if you leave it there, but they would rather show you how to do it yourself. A++++ for customer service read more

if you don't know where it is, you probably won't just see this as you are driving down route 1. Branford Hobbies is on a side ride right off Rt 1, once you know where to look it is pretty hard to miss with that full size plane coming out of the building. Inside the store there is a lot going on - RC Cars and planes and helipcopters, model railroads of all scales, model building supplies and tons of models old and new and some displays of war memorabilia and built models. Mike was super-nice and friendly and knowledgeable .. not a lot of other hobby stores around and luckily this is a good one. read more

I called to inquire about purchasing an RC Car. The salesman explained they were out of the car I called about, but suggested I purchase a different (and more expensive) car. I listened to his points, hung up and checked them out online. Well, he wasn't bs'ing me one bit. I ended up picking up the car and am very glad Mike suggested I go in this direction (the Slash vxl 4x4). When I was in the shop, the guys were super helpful, very friendly and not arrogant or pretentious. They didn't try and up-sell me on things that wouldn't be useful and offered some really good advice on general car operation, battery conditioning, etc. - things they didn't need to spend time explaining, but did, because you get the sense that they actually care. Very knowledgable staff who went out of their way to be helpful. Many of the customers seem to be doing repeat business and were also quite knowledgable. In fact, part of the experience was this exchange of first hand knowledge, which was incredibly helpful in making my purchasing decision (I am a total novice). The shop is like a cool club house from a different era. Even if you can buy many of the same things on the web, you just don't get this experience on the Internet. I highly reccomend. read more

They are a excellent hobby shop. They have everything from models to rc boats planes cars and trucks. They are very helpful and knowledgable and prices are cheapest around. If they don't have they will get it. The owner mark is a class act. read more

My boys and I found this place a few weeks back and we love it. Its not just the shop but the manager and the employees are VERY helpful. I was looking for model trains and am new to the hobby. The guys here took at least 1/2 an hour and explained a bunch of stuff to me I had to clue about. Placed an order and it came in fast. Great customer service and great prices. Mark, is a wonderful and very kind man. He has the patience that our mothers had with us when we were children. I've watched and listened to him explain to a child {8/10 years old} about how important trains were. He explained a Train its Locomotive, Coal car and its frieght cars . He explained what this train stood for back in the days when all that America had to ship goods a long distance were stagecoaches, boats or trains. He seen that the little boy kind of understood but really didn't get it he went and got a book on trains and gave it to him and told him to take this home and look thru it. What happened from there I don't know but i'll bet ya this kid now proably 25 years old will bring his kid into Marks Brandford Hobby store when its time for him to start playing with Trains, Remote Control cars, flying airplanes/ helicopters or even building a model of cars, battleships and even trains. I started going to his store when my son was 8 years old (now 34}, We bought a great Kit/Car a Remote Control Car that you take home and build togeather with my son. It came out great and he raced it for years. No idea as to what ever happened to it, it don't matter, because we did it togeather and i watched him enjoy it for years and that is what Marks store is about helping fathers and sons come togeather and form a bond that is and always will be unbreakable, as proably was the bond that Mark had with his father, what better way to grow up than woking with your FATHER learning everything about life thru him and by what he does and how he treats people, especially What should be ones greatest Hobby our children. I have been going to branford hobbies since I was 16 now I'm 33 and recently got back into the hobby. The store has never had so many items in it as it does now. Mark the owner is hands down is the most knowledgeable about hobbies it may take an hour to get a part sometimes but the stories and the conversations are worth the wait and to anyone who is in a rush just say hey mark I have to get this part and go and you will get it. The reason I have found it takes so long on a purchase is because he wants to make sure you know everything about what you are buying even the negatives. Too make a long review short (sorry for the rant ) Branford hobbies is the best and mark is one of the most honest and nicest guys I have ever met great store I'll continue to buy there forever!!!! read more
