But our server was very nice, he let us order our first round on the HH menu Pao de Queijo ($18)- cheese bread. Comes by truffle butter and jam. I would eat the bread by itself or with the butter, I'd skip the jam Endive Salad ($18)- I would skip this salad. It feels like different ingredients like radish, cheese, onion thrown together Scallop ceviche ($25)- excellent dish, super multi layered flavors. Sliced very thinly. 8 pieces. This was another selection for Restaurant Week 2025 and food-wise, it was an excellent choice. The menu offered a four course dining experience for $60. We went on a Thursday night at 7 p.m., so here was plenty of street parking. The space itself is very dimly light but most restaurants are these days. Since it was just the two of us (me and my BFF #2) we were seated at a two top. We we seated against the window, which was nice and there was a table next to us, not too close, which was cool. I am not a big fan of having tables next to me dining with me as I am there with my person or people to converse. We started out our meal with the Endive Salad for my BFF (Endives, Radicchio, Shaved Fennel, Crouton, Gouda, Nichols Farms Apples, Calimansi Vinaigretté) and the Linguica Slider for me (Pão de Queijo, Linguiça, Chimi Aioli, Tomato Vinaigretté). Both starters were excellent. Given a choice between meat or a salad as a starter, I will always go meat. That said, I tried the salad and it was very fresh and delish. The Calimansi Vinaigretté was crazy good! I was familiar with Calimansi as a fruit from some Filipino friends, but never thought about it as a vinaigretté. The sweet and sour flavors of this fruit are hard to describe but I would say it is like eating a lemon, an orange, and a lime all at the same time. The Linguica Slider was crazy good! The Pão de Queijo is a Brazilian cheese bread and that was nuts! I loved the flavor and the texture. Linguiça is a Portuguese sausage made from pork and seasoned with onion, garlic, paprika and other spices. First time having it and definitely will not be the last. The combination of the bread and sausage was just divine, and the pairing of the Chimi Aioli, Tomato Vinaigretté really brought the dish to together. For our second course, we both got the Brazilian Fried Chicken (Okra, Chiles, Pickled Pepper Aioli). The use of dark meat just heighten the flavor of this dish. The chicken was not only seasoned and cooked all the way through, the skin was fried very nicely. For our third course we both got the Braised Short Rib with Feijoada Risotto, Apple and Herb Salad. This dish came out with a side of what looked like au jus or something, not sure what it was, but it was good I thought the addition of black beans to the risotto was genius and for me, there was just the right amount of fat on the short rib. I would definitely try not to order this again just so I could try something new, but it would be hard. For our fourth course, my BFF got a sorbet that was fresh tasting and I got the Chocolate Banana Budino. I am not a fan of banana flavor at all, except in its natural form, but figured I would give this a try. Honestly I enjoyed it because I did not detect an overwhelming banana flavor, it was subtle. So you may be wondering why I am giving three stars. Several things happened during the meal that resulted in this rating: 1. It took a while before someone came over to bring us water and to take our drink order. 2. Once we got our drinks, our server disappeared for bit. We looked around to see where he was and eventually I saw him standing at the bar in conversation with a diner. Eventually he did look up and came over to take the order. 3. Someone else's order was brought to our table, the pan-seared salmon and an order of short ribs. Not sure who's food it was, but we got it first. 4. Couple of mix-ups with dish placements, which was quickly rectified as it took the servers to simply switch the dishes for me and my BFF The meal itself was a hit and I would definitely come back here to dine again as The Chef did that thing for us that night. We stopped into Brasero after hearing great things and it just happened to be west town restaurant week. Space was intimate but surprisingly large inside. Great spot to have a unique meal while also enjoying conversation amongst friends. We had the restaurant week menu but added a few sides off the regular menu to try. There are certain items that you can opt for smaller portions just to try many items off the menu so recommend you ask your server! Everything was fantastic. Presentation was above and beyond on all dishes. This feels like a 5-star experience. Flavors melded very well. A standout was the short rib with saffron risotto, Verde sauce, and chili oil. The flavors worked so well together and blew my mind - spicy from the oil, hearty and savory from the meat, and a bit of umami/richness from the risotto. The saffron was such a great touch too. Pão de queijo: 4 cheese bread balls with apple butter and truffle butter on the side. This is not your everyday bread and butter!! The texture of the bread was sooo different. Tearing each piece off, it reminded me almost of Japanese mochi and texture was chewy yet airy. You really can't go wrong with truffle butter, and while I was hesitant to put what looked like apple sauce on the bread, it was a great balance of flavor. Coal roasted sweet potato: $25 for a sweet potato might make you think twice, but this side was a freaking fantastic harmony of flavors and textures you wouldn't expect to be on a simple vegetable. I could tell that each part was intentional instead of being too "busy" for the sake of looking pretty. Braised pork shank: I'm glad that we didn't order anything else or get one main per person because this was HUGE. Not only a big serving, but also so visually appealing as soon as it arrived on the table! You have the tender fall-off-the-bone pork shank over a bit of flavorful risotto, crispy juicy pork belly slices, and garlicky greens on the side. Aside from the restaurant week menu, you can add a 1/2 side for $8 as well as add any a la carte items. I will say the main entrees are a bit pricey and nothing caught our eye for the mains so we ended up getting a few appetizers to try out! The appetizers came almost immediately, and the food was so amazing--my mom ordered a chamomile tea and I had to ask for a refill on her hot water (service). We had a large, hearty order and we were very hungry. After the yummy appetizers there was a significant waiting period, to the point that I had to ask several times for the food. We were told that the delay came from the steak/fries we had ordered. I do not believe that at all, as the tables around us, were getting food and we were just waiting. About 45 minutes later my partner almost wanted to leave, so I told a random waiter that we needed food now--he just looked at me. Luckily, our waitress was aware as she had previously came to the table to re-thank us for our patience. I want to point out that there were other tables with parties of 4--so I questions the delay! The food finally came and the infamous steak was COLD! The shank was good, the fried rice was good, the experience overshadowed our thrill to be there! The lamps on the table allow you to see the food well without being blinding and kept the mood cozy. The music was fun but not too loud. Service was amazing. The server was attentive. Helped suggest the order of courses based on what we were interested in. They cleared off plates often for each entree since the table space was limited. The dishes all came out hot and fresh. Everything was cooked perfectly. Meat was tender. The balance of fresh, sharp vinaigrettes and fatty meats was in every dish. The only issue I had was there were parts that were too salty. The branzino fish skin has parts that were salted a bit too heavily. The vinaigrettes also seemed a bit over salted. The pork shank had a bit too much salt on the salad and outer parts of the roasted meat. It made it hard to enjoy the great texture of the meat inside with the feijoada risotto. We do a monthly dinning club and a friend chose this place. While this place is on the pricey side, it is totally worth it. There were five of us and we opted to do the 4 course menu for 120$ per person which was absolutely worth it. Keep in mind the menu is not vegetarian friendly. Nice food but super rushed and crazy 23.5% auto gratuity. The food was very good - steaks were cooked nicely and the sides were excellent (sweet potato side was the highlight). That being said, the service was super rushed. We asked our server if we could put our apps in first and order mains later. She refused and said it's their policy to have entire order in one go (assuring us she'd space it out and wouldn't rush us). The first three dishes all came out together 2 mins later... We then asked if she could hold the rest until we gave the green light. She begrudgingly agreed but kept stopping by every 5 minutes (clearly annoyed) asking if they could start the mains. In the end we gave up and consented. I understand restaurants want to flip tables but when you're paying over $150 a head, you expect to be given the time to enjoy your meal. I needed a good new restaurant to celebrate my partner's birthday and did some perusing on Yelp and came across Braseros. I was able to book a reservation for 3 for the same day, this past Friday night, which was great! When we arrived, we were warmly greeted and welcomed into the dining area with ambient lighting. The dining room was full, which is usually a good sign! We settled in and started off with 2 appetizers; the grilled oysters and the heirloom tomato salad. The table fell silent as we savored the light, refreshing combination of flavors of the salad, and the delicious richness of the oysters. (We did not get pictures of those) For our main entrees, my partner chose the whole fried fish, I chose the grilled young chicken, and our friend chose the 12 oz wagyu picanha and we decided to share. What ended up happening though was we each shared about one bite with each other and were enraptured with our own selections so much we didn't even mind! Our friend literally had a moment with every bite of the wagyu! My partner said his fish was the best meal he has had in quite some time! The flavors were amazing in both dishes! My chicken was pretty good. I wouldn't say I was as in love as they were with their meals, but no complaints about my chicken. We also ordered sides: the yuka was incredible, the grilled sweet corn was flavorful and had a variety of textures, and the coal roasted sweet potato was tender and melted in our mouths. Chef John Manion is the creative force behind Brasero, a new Brazilian-influence restaurant. His sister restaurant is the El Che Steakhouse & Bar. The dining room which seats 120 opened in February 2024. Manion describes the cuisine as "wood-fired and Latin-inspired." The open kitchen at the back of the restaurant showcases a massive wood-fueled grill. The menu features a mix of small and large plates, with plenty of seafood and beef. Three of us arrived for dinner on Sunday evening and the restaurant was packed at 7pm. One thing we noticed immediately was the restaurant's noise level. We ordered: Pao de Queijo - Brazilian Cheese Bread served with incredible Klug Strawberry-Serrano Jam, we could have ordered seconds Grilled Oysters - The hot sauce is what makes these unique Charred Asparagus Salad - Loved the smokey flavor and hot honey, we could have ordered seconds Tuna Ceviche - A flavor explosion with pineapple, serrano and avocado Grilled Young Chicken - The char was awesome, super tender and juicy 10 Ounce Center Cut Ribeye - Perfectly prepared, tender and sliced Coal Roasted Sweet Potato - The Crème Brulee finish on the potato was delish Banana Cartola - Crème Brulee with Yogurt Gelato. We were surprised it took almost 15 minutes before a server came to our table and then another 10+ minutes for our drinks to arrive. Watching other tables nearby being served quicker, I still can't understand what caused these delays. Our server apologized twice for the delays, but I should have flagged down one of the managers to see if they could provide some accommodation. So I then got a caipirinha... great drink and flavor...lots of ice tho. I also had a glass of full bodied wine. Delicious! Appetizers: oysters...omg delicious!!! downside you get 4. We had 3 orders. Pao de queijo also delicious great butter and jam. Downside you get 4. This should be table bread that's complimentary. Dinner: whole red snapper. Nice char, juicy, flavorful, and the sriracha and lime great balance. Downside al a carte so we ordered a roasted sweet potato... delicious! Twice baked, cheese, and brulee crunch absolutely good. Perfect balance of savory and pinch of sweet. Thin Pork chops: perfectly cooked. Good balance of greens, nuts, and grapes. The sauce was also a great kick to balance things out too. Moqueca... seafood soup like bowl with shrimp mussels mahi and rice.... also pretty good. I would have liked it with a spicy kick. Nonetheless good. Dessert: coconut ice cream sundae... nice for dairy free folks. Chocolate cake with gelato... very rich chocolate but good taste. Ambiance was very nice for friends day out, date night, & family dinner. The server was exceptional she was attentive, provided suggestions, and was concerned when I had an allergic reaction.
