We live in the neighborhood and have gone here a handful of times over the last couple of years. Never had an issue until tonight. Got a silly amount of attitude for simply expecting them to honor their posted hours for their late night menu. Rather than just take it, we left and went somewhere else. I'm so sick of this nonsense in Chicago. I get that a lot of service industries are at the mercy of a workforce that just doesn't care, but you can't charge huge prices, include service charges, expect a 20% tip, provide poor service, and employ public facing staff with attitude problems, and expect customers to be ok with it. What a great vibe, especially during the World Cup. The service was great, and we even made Happy Hour on a Saturday! Our waiter was very helpful, pointing out his favorites. We had the ham and burrata cheese sandwich. It was very yummy, and the dipping sauce was amazing. The shrimp is delicious, in a slightly spicy sauce, with some toast to soak up all the sauce. The patatas bravas were delicious, crispy little bites covered in sauce, with tomato sauce on the bottom. The chicken skewers and lamb skewers were both delicious, tender and flavorful. Really nice ambiance, but it does get a bit loud during dinner service. It was hard to hear my friend sitting directly across from me. As for food, the short rib paella was the star of the show. When I think of paellas I usually think seafood but this variation was so unexpectedly good. The short rib was served bone-marrow style and made for a perfectly balanced dish to share. Note that the paellas take about 45 minutes to cook, so it's a good idea to order early. First, the service (our server) was great. We had a vegetarian friend and he was upfront that there is cross contamination with the pots and pans. Boqueria has a pretty solid happy hour menu and dinner is good. But I've consistently had some mediocre to bad service here. Last visit to the restaurant we were near the thermostat which said the restaurant was 81 degrees, very uncomfortable and we all wanted our meal to be over. We enjoy coming to Boqueria whether it's for a full tasting meal or happy hour. On this particular day, the occasion was to enjoy some happy hour bites and visit our favorite bartender, Cesar. I came here solely for the happy hour and I am glad we stopped in to try it. The restaurant has great decor on the inside that is clean and simple. The service was fine. I wish our waiter was more attentive to making sure the foods on the HH menu were ok for my cousin's allergies. He didn't write any of the allergens or bring a list to the chef and it made us nervous to try things (there's at least 8 things listed on her allergen list). Food: the patatas bravas were good. I wish they were a bit more crispy on the outside. The bocadito de jamon was delicious. The croquetes were nicely creamy as described.  Drink: I got the mini espresso martini which was yummy! It has liquor 43 so it is a bit sweeter but it was still made really nicely. The sangria was ok. There's a fun deal for their octopus shots! The choice to come here for a Sunday brunch was very random as I was not aware of Boqueria Fulton Market other than it had a Spanish flair based on their description of the restaurant on their page. I had not really looked at the menu beyond knowing that they served tapas and Spanish based food. Well after today, this made it on the rotation simply for the family style offering of brunch items, getting my own personal pitcher of cranberry mimosas and our wonderful server Raquel. Once I saw the offerings for the family style serving for brunch, I wanted to try that, but The Doctor and BFF #1 didn't want to do it. So, I was pleasantly surprised that they allowed me and The Queen to do the family style offering while The Doctor and BFF #1 got regular entrées. The family style serving was $29.99 and well worth the price as there was plenty of food. This is the first place that I can remember that did not require the entire table to order the same thing and I loved that as The Queen and I got to explore the menu. For the family style option, you pick two tapas, three entrée tapas and final dish are the Churros clásicos. For our two tapas we got the Albóndigas (beef and pork meatballs, tomato sauce, sheep's milk cheese, chives) and Croquetas (creamy croquettes with ham). The Albóndigas were served in this really lovely sauce that we ended up using on one of our entrées. The meatballs were "soft", as The Queen and I describe meatballs since she was a toddler. They were light and flavorful, tender to the point where they was almost had no give when using the fork to cut through it. The croquettes were served on top of what we think was an honey applesauce, which was sweet and a nice difference against the savory flavor of the croquette. For our entrées, we got the Coca de Costilla (braised short rib flatbread, pickled baby peppers, Mahón and Manchego cheese, caramelized onion, Marcona almonds), Huevos Estrellados (shoestring French fries, truffle potato cream, Jamón Serrano, fried egg) and Boqueria B.E.C (mini scrambled egg sandwiches with bacon, Jamón Serrano, Mahón cheese, salsa verde, garlic allioli). All three dishes were very good. For the Boqueria B.E.C, I learned something new as I did not know that allioli (Spanish) was different from what most of think of as alioli (French). There was a subtle enough difference for me to notice. This dish was so good that The Queen and I thought about ordering an entrée size order, but we still had the other two items coming out. The flatbread was good as it came out hot and on point as I love short rib meat on just about anything. The blending of the pickled baby peppers, Mahón and Manchego cheese were just right. The Huevos Estrellados were interesting with that creamy potato truffle sauce. My only thing about this dish is I would have loved some more of that Jamón Serrano ham in the mix. With this dish, because of truffle sauce, I would recommend eating some of the fries with that first, so you experience the truffle flavor. The Doctor and BFF #1 got the Huevos con Bistec (5 oz seared Outside Skirt steak, crispy potatoes, sunny side-up egg, mojo verde). I had a little of The Doctor's steak, potato and mojo verde sauce: steak was flavorful and tender, and that mojo verde sauce was very good. Potatoes were crispy and had a nice crunch to them but were soft on the inside. To top off the meal, you had the option of getting unlimited Sangría (The Queen) or Mimosas (me). I started with a traditional mimosa for the first pass but went with cranberry juice for the remainder of the meal. Boqueria offered a red, white and rose for the Sangría, and The Queen got the rose one. That was really good and for me the first time I have seen a rose offering. Because we stuck with the same flavor, Raquel provided me and The Queen a small pitcher of our own drink, which was fine by me. I have always thought restaurants with this option should just do this and I was happy Boqueria. Raquel was absolutely lovely. We sat outside and she took care of us. She was around enough to make sure we were okay without hovering. And as the place got busier, she did not disappear. She was quite bubbly and pleasant to chat with. And as I was a bubbles lady, she made a point of letting us know about a special they were offering at a discount price for a sparkling rose, which looked nice from what I could see at a table not too far from us, but I am glad I went with the unlimited cranberry mimosas. The outside patio was nice to the point that The Doctor didn't mind dining outside. He is an indoor kitty and as rule does not like eating outside per se, but he enjoyed it as we were under a canopy and not in direct sunlight. Parking was not an issue as there is a lot literally across the street on Halsted. I love the family style option for brunch but saw someone get the brunch paella and think I want to try that next time. read more

This place has been on my radar for years, just never found the time to stop in. The place is nice, it reminds me of a modern Spanish restaurant in Espana. I ordered a cross section of items to help develop a fair opinion about the place. I had the jamon bellota, mahon cheese, patatas bravas, calamares frito, croquetas de setas and jamon, pulpo, and churros con chocolate. Also, I had some red sangria. In all honesty, nothing wowed me. I was expecting to be wowed, except the bill but that doesn't count, by this upscale Spanish restaurant. I am not saying that anything was bad. My experience was just average. So then, an average tapas meal shouldn't have a high-end pricing, which it did. After, shopping at the popup Artisan Market in the Fulton area on Sunday March 8th nothing sounded better than a vary of tapas and glass of sangria. It's at times like this that I truly miss the restaurant that I would frequent the most for tapas. Cafe Iberico was like walking into a tasca in Madrid. Everything was incredibly delicious, and beautifully presented. The highlights were the ibérico, steak, lamb and seafood paella. Everyone was so impressive and stuffed by the end of it. *2025 Restaurant Week Review - Lunch I was looking forward to coming here because the menu option seemed fairly large for both lunch and dinner. Decided to do lunch with my partner and it was fantastic! I love the ambiance and decor here. The Jamon Y Manchego was a nice meat and cheese board and a great start to the meal. The Tortilla Espanola was a soft and light frittata paired with a nice cream sauce - I liked this one! The Croquetas Setas were mushroom croquettes served with a nice truffle aioli. These were great and were my partner's favorite. I preferred the Croquestas De Jamon! The Patatas Bravas were also really good because they had salsa at the bottom. After all these delicious tapas, we were starting to get full already! For our mains, we did the Pollo Asado Bowl and the Bocata De Pollo. The Pollo Asado Bowl was good, but it was lacking sauce so we asked for a side of the sauce that was paired with the Patatas Bravas. The Bocata De Pollo was a great sandwich and the chips were a great pairing because they were light and airy! Boqueria is definitely a great spot to stop at for good eats! read more

Giving it a 2/5 since the vibes are chic and because the patatas bravas were delicious. We came here for the NYE pre-fix menu for $75 plus tax and gratuity per person. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation. It's understandable since it's NYE but still wasn't ideal. We were served a 12 course meal of tapas plus 1 dessert. Most of the dishes were bland, super tiny, and disappointing. Most courses only served one dish of tapas even though there were 4 people at the table. This should be specified in the prefix menu that each person will only get 1 bite of a dish. I didn't expect the portions to be huge since it was tapas, but I did expect it to be more than one bite. Plus the dishes all lacked seasoning and flavor. The ahi tuna, yogurt with toast dish, and salad were the most tasteless dishes I've ever had. They also served us a handful of grapes in small plastic cups. It was like we were pre-schoolers getting a snack. The service wasn't very attentive and the dishes were slow to come out. We tried to cut the restaurant some slack since it was NYE, but they really could've done a better job. Overall, I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone due to the inattentive staff, extremely tiny portions, utter lack of flavor, and price. I really hope the restaurant can elevate the dishes plus offer bigger portions for the prices they are charging. read more

I figured I would like Boqueria, but I didn't guess that I would love it! It was just shy of a 5 star experience, but I wouldn't hesitate to go back. The food we had was fantastic: the carrots, garlic shrimp, calamari, and lamb skewers for the two of us. We were fairly hungry but also wanted dessert, and the amount was just right. The calamari and carrots were the real standouts, but the lamb skewers were not far behind, and the shrimp were also excellent. We could have used a bit more bread for the shrimp, but otherwise everything was top notch. The calamari was among the best we've ever had: perfectly cooked with great sauces to accompany it, though the calamari itself was well seasoned and delicious. I loved the carrots, which were also perfectly roasted. The desserts were a bit of a miss, perfectly fine but not as great as the food. The orange olive oil cake was nice but a little dry and would have benefited from some whipped cream or ice cream. The chocolate Basque cheesecake was better but incredibly rich. Both were generous portions but a little disappointing. Otherwise, we had pretty good service, and the ambiance is modern and fun (albeit a little loud). All in all, we had a great date night at Boqueria and would definitely return. read more

Had an amazing dinner here. Started with a pitcher of sangria, which poured about 6 glasses. The sangria was great. It resh cut apples in it. The pan con tomate was the only thing we didn't love. The bread was just a little too hard. Everything else was excellent. Gambas are a must order. Shrimp in a lobster reduction, garlic sauce. Whoa! This was amazing and my fav thing we got. Needed an extra order of bread because I wanted to soak up all of that sauce. Mushroom croquetas were delicious. Lightly fried with ooey gooey filling. Patatas - chunks of fried potato in a red sauce topped with an aoli. Classic. Paella with squid ink and stuffed squid. So hard to explain this dish but it was so great! The staff was super nice. And the managers came in to see how things were and said goodbye to everyone as they walked out. The ambiance inside is cozy and sexy. Good date spot but also a good spot to come with friends. A modern and hip tapas place with a really cool vibe. I especially enjoyed being able to watch the kitchen (separated by glass partition) and also seeing so many authentic Spanish products on display which brought me back to Spain. I ordered a pomelo to start and it was fantastic. Very refreshing, citrusy and sweet and strong, good for a summer night like when we went. My girlfriend had Albarino wine which she loves. Our table of 4 tried so many tapas (we are very serious about tapas), incuding pan con tomate, tortilla, serrano ham, croquetas de jamon, boquerones, atun canario, calamares, bikini, pinxtos morunos, and mini hamburgesa. All were fantastic but some that stand out as memorable and highlights were the atun, the boquerones, and the pan con tomate. The tortilla was very small but tasty. All the food was extremely fresh, super high quality, and clearly made to order (we could see it, lol). All the food came out very fast and ended up being somewhat of a quick meal. Inspired by our first positive experience, we brought friends visiting from LA with a promise of a great meal. Unfortunately, everything about the experience disappointed. Service once again was mediocre at best. She had no clue what being vegan meant and told us we can only order the Caesar salad (which has anchovies fyi). She didn't offer to check with the kitchen or anything. Once we did place the order, the food came out even more salty than last time. And I had the same feedback for the paella last time. The cheese platter was disappointing as the cheese had dried out by leaving it out too long. The drinks were mostly a tall glass of ice and very little cocktail flavor. They were already out of several wines that were offered by the glass and once again, the server stood there helpless with zero knowledge of the menu. A smart move would've been to send over someone from the bar to make suggestions but they didn't. And we had to skip dessert as she told us again that nothing vegan was available.
