Went here with a big group of locals while visiting. They were doing a pork chop family style dinner; those chops were cooked to perfection. Simple, but so good! It came with apple sauce, green beens, mashed potatoes and biscuits as sides. I had a little of each of the sides, and the apple sauce was my favorite, but those chops were so good, I could not stop eating them. Thin. Breaded. Golden fried to absolute perfection, my eyes are rolling back in my head just righting the review. The waitress was wonderful. Speedy. Courteous. Friendly. We were there just to get together with my Aunt and a bunch of her friendly neighbors; we were treated well. She assumed we were there for a celebration, and was prepared to offer some embarrassing celebration song. But, that was not necessary. Enjoyed them a great bit! read more

We drove quite a ways to get there as we like their chops, but last night one of the staff stood from the kitchen aping me. I had a couple chops and a refill on mashed potatoes and green beans family style. No refill on drink. In other words I was no pig. I suspect they did not like the people we came with as they are regulars and like to joke around a bit. It was awkward as the friends we were with did not see the young woman making faces, tilting her head this way and that. I suspect the potatoes are mixed with instant. I felt like we were being watched the whole time we ate as in monitored. They asked how many chops we wanted on the platter. Usually it was just filled after being emptied. This is not a cheap place, so we were disappointed by them acting like we were hobo's are something. read more

Nice local restaurant. Went with family that lives in the area on Thursday night for pork chops. Meals served family style starting off with the best applesauce and coleslaw. The main meal consisted of both grilled and fried pork chops, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and biscuits. The food is delicious and they will bring you more of anything you want. My husband and I love to drive up to The Brass Door. I know they are known for their pork chops but we typically go on Friday night for the Buffalo fish special because that's my husband's favorite. Last Friday he had the Buffalo and I had catfish filets. Everything was great. They serve little loaves of delicious bread with your meal. On weekends they have a salad bar that always includes great soups. Service is friendly and efficient. If you're not a local, it's definitely worth the trip to check it out. read more

I grew up in Carrollton and can honestly tell you that I have no idea nor do I care to know what is on the menu here. I only come for the all you can eat pork chop dinners on Tuesday and Thursday nights. They are served family style and include: breaded pork chops, mashed potatoes and gravy, slaw, applesauce, green beans, and biscuits. Everything tastes amazing (I'm not a fan of slaw, but my mother assures me that it is, in fact, quite good), and you only have yourself to blame if you go home hungry... or feeling like you need to throw up from eating way too much - happens to the best of us. It isn't all candy coated unicorns that crap out rainbow though; there can be a pretty big crowd here between 5:30 and 7:30p (as big as a small town crowd gets anyway) and the service can be a bit iffy at times. If you need something, just get someone's attention and they will help you out. Once food is on your table, you are welcome to take it, if you don't mind putting greasy chops wrapped in napkins in your purse. They will not give you a doggy bag for that... But don't just order more food with the intention of taking it home, that is just impolite! read more

In a small town of less than 3000 people you wouldn't expect to find a nice restaurant like this. Every Tuesday and Thursday they have all you can eat boneless pork chops which they serve family style. They are very large and amazingly good. If you leave hungry its your own fault!! Service is good but again they are very busy. We did not have to wait at all to be seated but I have heard from other people its not unusual to have to wait for awhile. There is really nothing fancy about this place but the food makes up for that. They also cater parties and weddings. We will definitely be going back soon!! read more

I've eaten both the catering and the in house food. I'll focus on catering since that'd what I had most recently. The highlight of the catering was of course the pork chop. While these are not catered piping hot and fresh they were your standard brass door pork chop. Breaded, moist with good size to them. There is also the world famous apple sauce and gravy. The mashed potatoes were very lackluster, and there weren't any biscuits (given packaged rolls instead) and no coleslaw but we're give side salad. If you're a fan of brass door and want their chops at your next family event, this is a great opportunity. Of you're looking for the whole meal experience, you'll be left wanting. read more

My husband and I came here yesterday for our anniversary. This place is not set up nor do they have the staff to be busy. I took twenty minutes to get someone to take our order. We asked for silverware and the horrible waitress said it was going to be at least five minutes. My food was way under cooked and we couldn't get the waitress to Come back to have our food put on the grill. read more

You can call for a reservation but we usually get there before the rush (5:30). It's home style service with bowls on the table. For small town Illinois this place is the best ! The food is awesome the service is fantastic and the price is as fair as it gets ! In my opinion the only restaraunt that I like any better is on Seattle Washington and that's because of the scenery on pugeot sound and the fresh sea food ! This is small town America. No extra stuff, because it's a waste. The tables.are.covered with clean, not sticky or grimy, oilcloth. Each evening g they have a well priced dinner special, e.g porkchops, fish, fried chicken, prime rib $20 on the weekends. Weekends there is also a soup and salad bar. there is a brighly lit staffed bar separated from the 2 dining rooms. You can eat in here too. We went on Saturday night. the place was busy. I like to see that. I had the prime rib $20 with a baked potatoe. yummy huge cut with real horseradish and au jus. He had the whole catfish $12.95. His plate came with 2 fish in a plain cornmeal coating - goose and clean. the salad bar has just the right compliment of fresh plain vegetables and a few prepared salads. The soups appeared to be homemade chicken noodle and french onion. the french onion - no cheese - was excellent. On Friday and Saturday they have the Salad bar only option for your meal. The table had both butter and non butter available. Drinks were excellent, modestly priced and served in a nice glass. The nice glass makes a difference. We had a really nice experienced server who was well backed up by another dining room staffer. A.great Saturday night dining experience for $55 including tip and 2 cocktails each. read more

I'm rating the pork chops 5 starts... if they didn't have those, it would probably get 3 or maybe 4 stars from me. The fried pork chopes are AWESOME! I had them catered for our class reunion a few years back AND we catered them for our rehersal dinner last year (they drove all the way to Springfield)! Last Thursday, we had a reservation for a dozen people to celebrate my Grandparent's anniversary, but the pork chops alone were worth the hour+ drive!
