This was one of my Christmas presents, a meal out here. It's an amazing room, with wonderfully high ceilings and stairs like the scene out of the Titanic. We were seated in the bar area and I opted for what I thought was a glass of champagne but it turned out to be a champagne cocktail 'the classic'. Wasn't to my taste! But my mistake. They have no draft beers, but some bottled and a good selection of bottled ciders. We were then seated at a big round table - too big in my opinion cos I felt I needed to shout to everyone on it! The menu looked amazing. As French as you could possibly get so I was in heaven. The waitress then came over and told us half of it they didn't have! Bit naughty not to mention it on the website cos there was a lot missing. I chose the steak tartare to start, It was delicious! Fillet steak minced with pickles and mustard through it, it was quite fiery actually, I think there was quite a bit of Tabasco in it too but it really enhanced the dish. Wasn't sure about the raw egg yolk served on top but I was pleasantly surprised. I opted for a bottle of the Pinot noir which was nice and subtle, the more expensive of the wines at 30ish quid. But that was at the top of the price range on the wine list so quite reasonable really for all the wines ( it helped I wasn't paying too! ). For the main I went for the sirloin steak, served with fries and the best pepper sauce I have EVER tasted. Yes The Yeoman - it beat yours! (can't believe I just said that). I asked for it to be cooked rare but it was slightly overdone. Usually I would have sent it back but it was so tasty I didn't actually need to. Everyone else was thoroughly enjoying theirs too. For pudding I shared a cheese board and again was transported through those pearly white gates. The cheese's where magnific! Melt in your mouth blue, Brie to die for, a lovely smoked one which I thought I wouldn't like. Yum. Yum. YUM! My friends chose the baked Alaska which was flambé'd at the table, it looked amazeballs. Since me and my family started watching Raymond Blanc on his BBC Two programme, 'The Restaurant', we have become obsessed with his signature catchphrase, "I'm closing your restaurant!' (said with his equally signature French accent.) Mum burns the dinner: "I'm closing your restaurant!" We eat somewhere awful: "I'm closing your restaurant!" Simple minds, simple pleasures, eh? So when me and my sister were picking a place to take our dad for his 60th birthday - there was only one real contender: Brasserie Blanc. I don't want to oversell the experience that I had there - but put quite simply, it was the BEST restaurant I've ever eaten in. Everything from the wonderfully attentive staff down to the phenomenal food made it an evening to remember. For started I had a blue cheese soufflé, followed by the juiciest scallops I've ever had, and to finish - one of Raymond's famous chocolate fondants. As I slid my spoon into the soft sponge to let the warm chocolate lava flow out - I seriously contemplated starting a relationship with this pudding. At £300 for a meal for four (including starters, mains, deserts, two bottles of wine and a bottle of champagne) it would be flippant to call it a bargain, but it was certainly value for money. This is my 3rd visit to Brasserie Blanc in Bristol and I was not disappointed! The location is amongst the shops in Cabot Circus so nice to relax after some retail therapy. I went on a Thursday night and was able to get a table fine. They were a few business groups eating and several couples but it was quite quiet. We had the fixed price menu which was exceptionally good value and delicious. Under £20 for 3 courses AND a glass of wine, brilliant! This was the new Autumn menu, I had a rather large portion of swiss chard gnocchi to start, pork meatballs and roasted potatoes for main and a lovely dessert of poached pear with rice pudding and Cointreau. Service was very polite and relaxed. Definitely be going back again. read more

My girlfriend and I visited for my birthday. The central location in Broadmead and Cabot Circus is advantageous. The interior is impressive and atmosphere intimate. The service was efficient and non-invasive. The menu provided us with a dilemma over its variance. Our choices were delicious and and the portions were generous without being gluttonous. The Brasserie Blanc provided the backdrop to my last History Ball and it was fantastic! The end of the night is, admittedly, a little bit hazy but I do clearly remember the slick service and quality food. The fabulous three-course meal went down a treat; goats cheese bruschetta, chicken in wine sauce with seasonal veg and a chocolate pavlova. I was in food heaven! Brasserie Blanc was so fitting for a history ball because the restaurant is situated in the beautiful Georgian meeting house and two medieval halls. Modern dining within such historical walls is really surreal and will add extra atmosphere to your evening. read more

I came here last weekend after a trip to the Old Vic with a friend and some of her family. They had looked up Brasserie Blanc in advance on the Internet so we toddled off to catch an early dinner. I should start by saying the food was lovely. I had a pork dish which was very tender, and a mango slightly warm desert which was just divine. It was a two course meal with a glass of wine for £14, I think it went up to £16-18 after 6.30pm. So, the food was fantastic. The service, however, left a lot to be desired for. It was about 5 o'clock, the huge restaurant was almost completely empty, and when we asked for a table the guy frowned as though the place was heaving and we'd skipped our turn in the queue! He begrudgingly showed us to a table and informed us we would have to leave by 7 (which left loads of time!). Then the waiter that first served us did a really good job of impersonating someone who was arrogant, unfriendly, and totally lifeless! They seemed to think that because they were working in a famous person's chain restaurant they has to become highly strung. One of the other waiters actually smiled...he must have been new! read more

Situated in the high-end Quakers Friar section of Cabot Circus, Brasserie Blanc is a popular celebrity chef chain restaurant. It serves good food with quality ingredients at reasonably affordable prices, in contemporary surrounds. I haven't been here to order a la carte, instead paying a visit for a friend's 21st. The space we were offered was a private room, which was in some ways good (not disturbed) in other ways bad (lose out on atmosphere). The food was good but nothing mind-blowing and I found the whole thing a little pretentious. At the end of the day, chain restaurants, no matter how good they are or how famous their creator is, are always going to leave me a little cold. Everything seems a little sanitised, a little bland. This is precisely the downside to Brasserie Blanc, which is as colourless as the name suggests. read more

Brasserie Blanc is located in Quakers Friars - the place with all the more expensive and high end shops! This said, you can expect that this restaurant will also be on the higher price range, purely because of its location, and you would be right... This is the kind of place that would be great for a special occasion meal where you don't mind paying a bit more, but perhaps not somewhere you would go just for a quick bite to eat - definitely make an evening of it to get your value for money! The food here is brilliant, and has a very classy and top notch feel to it! The food is French cuisine, but they do offer a good range so there's something for everyone. On another note the outside seating is beautiful! And If you are lucky enough to have a sunny day's evening then definitely sit outside, the area is beautiful with fountains to look out over! read more

Not particularly impressed with BB. My wife and myself went there with high expectations, and when we asked for vegetarian options, the member of staff became condescending. Not happy, we left and went to a close by restaurant with a high reputation and had good service as well as decent food, albeit at a more expensive rate than BB. Had lunch with my soon to be sister in law here the other day after doing some shopping and was pleased with our lunch. I was pretty excited to try anything done by Raymond Blanc, so when she suggested this place I was definitely happy. We came for an early lunch and I found the prices to be very reasonable, especially the two and three course meal choices. We both opted for the 2 course meal at only £11.95 and had the smoked mackerel starter with horseradish cream (delish) and the omelette with salad which was also was very tasty. The decor is very attractive and it's a nice open space, I definitely want to come back for dinner and preferably on a nice night to sit outside. Would definitely recommend this place. read more

We arrived on time at 8pm on Saturday night, it was bust but not packed and were offered a drink at the bar where there were several seats. So we sat down and were ignored for 20 mins until I went up and asked for service. Rest of evening was very nice apart from the chocolate mousse that was watery cleary having been defrosted. Which for a Blanc establishment was a let down. None the less, given Bristo's dining opportunities I would return. read more

Loved the food and the service every time we've been. The food has great flavour, portion sizes good, and have always left feeling full and nicely enjoyable. Great value compared to other restaurants, and they do some set menus as in France. Service is great, offering descriptions and suggestions, knowledgable, friendly and very helpful.
