Food here was spectacular! Ordered the bread, scallop, pigeon, oyster, mushrooms, roasted greens and langoustine. The pigeon with the guanciale was the dish of the evening. It was perfectly cooked and flavorful. Ambiance was pub-like casual and somewhat noisy just because of the acoustics. Service was super fast as well. Would definitely recommend.

Brat Tucked away in a former strip club is this cozy, dimly lit restaurant cooking plates inspired by the beautiful Basque Country. Fire is central to everything they do and that's evident from the smell of smoke that penetrates the bar as soon as you walk through the door. Chef Tomos Parry, who made a name for himself at fashionable Kitty Fischer's in Mayfair, focuses on simple dishes executed perfectly. Whole grilled seafood ('brat' is an old English word for turbot) sits alongside their delicious housemade breads topped with olive oil and sardines. The cherry on top of this whole experience was their basque cheesecake with rhubarb. To say we could have eaten three or four slices would be an understatement.

Duck Rice (like a duck paella)

The duck rice is OUT OF THIS WORLD good! This was a place recommended to me by a friend and it did not disappoint! Whether you're treating yourself to fine dining like myself or out to a nice dinner with your partner, you will enjoy it. Everything was super delicious and all of the staff were wonderful. The bar seats are always great because you get to see how they make your meals and when they're coming out to your table.

The food here was delicious. Almost everything we ordered was extremely tasty, and I thought the food was both well prepared and well plated. I am not super happy. We were seated almost a full hour after our reservation, which meant we ended up, leaving the restaurant over two hours beyond when we were supposed to be seated. With a little one in tow, this meant bedtime was pushed back and he was cranky. The servers also weren't very accessible, and some of them were downright rude. When we asked to order more food, they gave us a condescending "you've had quite enough" vibe. We finished all of our food for the record! I think this would be a great date spot, or place for young couples. Not very family friendly.

Delicious meal and great service in a small lively room with a bar and open kitchen. The bread and charred onion butter is a must. The cockles and oysters were also fantastic. The crispy duck rice was rich and amazing. The turbot, for which they are famous, was very good but perhaps a bit over hyped and over priced. For vegetables the smashed potatoes were salty and buttery and the roasted red peppers were flavorful and sweet with a hint of vinegar.

    Bread... simple but awesome

Wow. Such a great meal at brat. Didn't know what to expect, but from start to finish the food was excellent and the attentiveness and service of the staff was the best. Really enjoyed the oyster and chorizo bites. The real standout was the crab soup... warm, seafoody and complex, this was truly a special dish. Sardine bread was also excellent. Even the grilled bread was excellent. Thanks brat for the best meal I had on this trip to London.

Was a bit disappointed by this restaurant given that it had a Michelin star and had been recommended several times to me. The concept is lovely but overall found the food quite salty (particularly the grilled bread with anchovy and bread & burnt onion better). I thought the flavor and texture of the John Dory were just alright. Two dishes - the langoustines and the leeks with fresh cheese - had a good smoky taste.

In my research on where I was going to go during my trip to London, I stumbled upon Brat. A one Michelin Starred joint that exclusively cooks with fire. No electricity. Just fire. From my table, I could see a massive, wood-burning oven and a giant firepit with grates at three different height levels, presumably for different heat intensities. I've heard of places like this, and I was excited to try one out for myself. We started off with the Grilled Bread (with Girolles & Berkswell). We saw them throw it in the oven, bake right in front of our eyes, and then get adorned with some cheese and the mushrooms. A slight char, flavorful, salty cheese, and the umami from the mushrooms made this a true banger. We ordered a small plate next, the Lamb Chop with Grilled Sweetbreads. The lamb chop had that same, good char. Tender and simply seasoned. Served with a couple of sweetbreads, which, if you've never had, you should. They are officially a new texture for me, a slight creaminess. Very unique. Very delicious. Then we ordered a main, the Lemon Sole. A whole fish, face and all, trapped in a cage and roasted over the fire. Charred, barely seasoned, the meat singing its own praises. There aren't a lot of experiences as visceral as eating a whole fish. Amazing. FYI, though, this fish had both more and smaller pin bones that you average fish, so you're gonna work for your prize. Then we got another main, the Roast Duck Rice. This dish was unbelievable. The rice was cooked in the duck fat, the duck was ultra crispy, and the whole mushrooms and slices of onion just made this campfire-like dish so unctuous. Very heavy, with no relief, in a good way. With all our food, we got a couple of sides, the Smoked Potatoes and the Wood Roasted Greens. Both great. Buttery potatoes served whole, so you get that pop of the skin with every bite. The stuff of dreams. And the green were nice. Not like, mega delicious, but you need that freshness to break up the heaviness of the whole meal. It was covered in that same cheese that was on the bread. A good side. Then it was time for dessert, the Burnt Cheesecake & Nectarine. The cheesecake was pure velvet. Amazing. It was covered with a fine layer of ash on top, which sounds not good, but it was very good. I think the one I had was served with a pear, as opposed to the new menu version, but either way, a slice of fruit complements this well, because the flavor is very neutral. Overall, great. Overall, I loved this place. Everything they served looked so dang rustic, like it was served to me at a campsite, right out of the fire. But at the same time, it was delicate, and worthy of Michelin's attention. I also liked the way they highlighted various ingredients. The same mushrooms and cheeses kept showing up in their different dishes in different ways, and they played a good part. Yes, come here. It's a winner.

    Velvety Crab Soup was excellent

Michelin-starred and with the top 100 best in the world fame: Brat - restaurant named after the old English colloquialism for the flat fish - turbot. Hence grilled seafood (including whole turbot) is the focus and we see bigger parties sharing the grilled larger format dishes, including lamb from the Wales, beef from the English southwest. We are a party of 2 so we ordered the smaller tapa style dishes. Started off with some local oysters with some seaweed that tasted refreshing - just like the ocean. The velvety crab bisque was a highlight, although the red pepper may have overpowered the fresh crab flavor. For mains, we opt for the Fallow Deer Choo that was sold out for the night. Our second choice was the mallard with pumpkin & radicchio - which turned out to be great for sharing and perfectly cooked to a medium and was super tender. Comparing the 4 London restaurants that made it to the Top 100 best restaurants in the World list, Lyles is absolutely the favorite, followed by Clover Club and then Brat. Would highly recommend to check out Lyles the next time you are in London

    The duck...sooo good. Definitely recommend.

It is a small place up a flight of stairs on the side of another bar/restaurant but was easy to find. We walked up and they took our coat. There is a huge wine selection and the sommelier helped us make a great decision after giving him a few of our preferences. Then came the starters. We had what can only be described as a slab of bread. It was amazingly good with the burnt butter, but was comically large and we only finished about half of the portion. We got the duck and it was one of the best duck dishes, if not the best, that I have ever had. We watched them meticulously prepare it and then let it rest before expertly carving it up and delivering it to our mouthwatering (is that proper usage?) covered table. The staff were all very, very attentive and amazing. They were nice and made sure we had a fantastic meal. We will definitely go back and recommend them to anyone going to London.

Brat is a Michelin-starred basque restaurant in Shoreditch. Although space is a bit cramped, the food, wine list and service are great. Order a number of smaller plates to share so you get a full sense of the range of food and tastes of the Basque region.

A near religious experience. One of my favorite restaurants I've tried in London after being so hyped up by the press. The restaurant itself is an open-kitchen concept with a focus on wood-fired cooking. Each dish was executed with such attention to detail but the basque cheesecake was truly what set the experience apart. And pricing was so fair for what it's worth.

A friend and I found this gem while strolling around near our hotel. This was one of the best accidental finds in my life. Every single item ordered from the menu was incredible. The service and staff were friendly, helpful and so generous with their time explaining the dishes. In fact, our server even took the time to explain where our next stop should be after dinner. Gave us directions and who to ask for. The next time I'm in London; I'll make it a point to go back. You will not be disappointed.

If you're looking for a truly unique and authentic wine experience this is the place. Tony, the owner, is so proud of his store and so passionate about his wine and produce. Everything is fresh and of top quality but at reasonable prices. We started with a glass of their lemoncello and grapefruit prosecco. For someone that doesn't really like prosecco, I loved this. We then ordered a charcuterie board (3 choices for £10) served with crackers and a lovely chutney. We had the salami and special black pepper sausage with tunworth cheese. The cheese was outstanding - packed full of flavour and melted in your mouth. The meats too exquisite - the salami was our favourite for sure! We also had a side of bread and olives. The olives were pure buttery goodness! We couldn't get enough! We also ordered the baby squid in tomato sauce - it was tasty but slightly too fishy for us. Still fantastic quality though. I then had a glass of their Italian rose and a glass of their homemade red. Both delicious, the Rose in particular was fresh and just perfect for a summers day. We couldn't have left happier and every mouthful was a pure delight! We'll be back! :)

We saw that they sold bottled beers, as well as some on draught, so we thought we'd enjoy a peek before dinner. We both had a pint, and it was so fresh and lively that it took about 10 minutes to get our pints. The inside is rustic and inviting. It would be a great spot for the pub crawls we put on for a group we lead. They do offer a large selection of wines, as well as some meats and nibbles. They've only been open a short time, but it's a nice venue that I hope gets some attention, and can expand their beer selection as time goes on. It's my understanding that it is also associated with Trattoria Sapori (same ownership), so I believe it'll do quite well. Check it out if you're in the area.

All of the wines are excellent value and there is a really interesting range of European focused wines to choose from(mainly French and Italian). They also have a really good lineup of local beers. The staff know everything on the shelves and will guide you in the right direction depending on what you like and budget. They also have wines by the glass that rotate regularly and are around the £4-6 mark. They are now doing a simple but really well-executed menu of food: mainly focused on charcuterie, cheese and different flavoured bruschettas. So similar to what the other wine bars are doing around London but a little bit better. Their burrata is large but disappears very quickly from the table... All of their cured meats are delicious too. If you need to get out of the house in the morning it's a great place to read a book/newspaper and enjoy a beautiful Italian roast coffee and some sourdough toast.
