Overall decent experience, but if it's stuffy and expected food made this place not as great as I'd hoped. Went here because it was recommended by the Michelin guide and overall food was good - had the fix price two course menu for £32 which seemed a bit pricey, but it was a lot of food. Started with the butternut squash soup, which was rich and yummy, but somewhat expected. Then had the trout which was nice with a crispy skin, but a bit underseasoned. Chips were exceptional as advertised, but didn't need the extra truffle bit and cocktails were unexceptional. Service also was a bit flat so not I don't think up to the standard. read more

The most wonderful dinner we had during our stay in London!!! I don't know where to begin. The lovely, homey interior made for a perfect setting for an incredible meal. Our server, Brendan, was the most genuine, kind, attentive person! He made our experience even more incredible. For the food - the ham and cheese toastie is a must! The savory toastie with a little bit of the vinegary-onion-jam on top make for a mouth-watering, savory bite with a great pop of acid. I had a phenomenal pork chop. Cooked to perfection with a nice background of heat from the mustard. My wife had halibut. Again it was cooked to perfection. Her dish had a nice creamy tarragon sauce and green tomatoes, which were both delicious. Get the chips! These were the best chips I had in London!! They're huge! Such a wonderful crisp on the outside with a soft, warm center. And there was a nice touch of rosemary. Can't go wrong with the brownie for dessert - it wasn't too sweet, which I appreciated. This is a lovely, cozy restaurant with great food and helpful service. Every dish I had went above and beyond. I feel like I learned about what pumpkin soup can be from eating theirs. The texture, seasonings, and additions combined to make a soup that was satisfyingly substantial but not at all heavy. The chocolate marquise was also greater than the sum of its parts. I usually prefer dark chocolate to milk chocolate versions, but when matched with the slight bitterness of roasted hazelnuts and the refreshing contrast of vanilla ice cream, it converted me. A special shout out to the ice cream's texture--it was soft enough that it didn't resist my spoon, but solid enough to stand up to the marquise. read more

Cora Pearl is an excellent, high-end "new British" restaurant serving up delicious cuisine in a cozy environment. We came as a group after work and enjoyed most of the menu. For starters, the ham and cheese toastie was surprisingly good (lots of ham!), and the beets and burrata were also well-liked. For mains, the veal was fantastic -- tender with a big portion. The hipsi cabbage balanced it well as a crispy and substantial veggie side (whereas the mixed leaf salad was a bit flimsy). The chips are also massive and very crispy if you're a fan of thick chips. For dessert, you have to get the milk and cookies! The name severely undersells the dish, which is an overloaded concoction of chocolate mousse, topped with a large, warm, chewy salted chocolate chip cookie, accompanied with milk ice cream and whipped cream. It was amazing. Our server really upselled us on a lot of sides, so we had more than enough food. Maybe keep that in mind when you visit that you can say no! But overall had a nice time. Excellent restaurant in Covent Garden. Small place so make sure you have a reservation. The service was spot on and the food was great. Had a family lunch with 5 people so we tried nearly everything on the menu, even the recommended bottle of wine was perfect. The entire staff was extremely attentive and all of their suggestions were perfect. Will be back on our next trip to London. read more

For my main coarse I ordered the steak Sunday roast, it was absolutely delicious! The service was great and the vibe of the restaurant was immaculate. Very cozy atmosphere. On our recent one-week trip to London, we wanted pack in as much British culture and tradition as we could. Our Sunday roast meal at Cora Pearl ticked off one box, while also helping us fight off jet lag. We arrived at Heathrow a little late but still were able to make it to our nearby hotel with just enough time to freshen up before making the short stroll to this restaurant. We opted for outdoor dining since we needed to stay Covid-free in order to return to the US on schedule, and we had a perfect day for it - sunny and reasonably warm. Its location in Covent Garden made for a lively atmosphere, and in fact I think that the experience was enhanced by being able to watch the city in motion around us. We were greeted warmly by the friendly waitress, who explained the menu to us. We decided to stick with the roast, eschewing any appetizers, because the description was suggestive of a fairly substantial meal. We tried three different entrees with the accompanying side dishes: Roasted celeriac and black garlic - we'd never heard of this before and had to look it up before ordering. Basically it's a root vegetable from a particular variety of celery. This was good, with a kind of turnip-like texture, and certainly a new experience. Roast lamb and mint - seemed like a very British dish so we couldn't not get this, right? Nicely prepared to medium rare, it had that expected richness of flavor and aroma that you either like or you don't. Roast beef with horseradish - this was good, not spectacular. The beef was a little restrained, probably owing to the fact that it was a lean cut without much of the fat that can really deliver a flavor punch. The horseradish gave it a little zing, which helped. Crispy potatoes - this place is apparently famous for their chips, though our server clarified these aren't exactly chips since they were cut smaller. It didn't matter because they were absolutely fantastic. Substantial in size yet light and airy, fried to a perfect golden brown and served hot. Excellent flavor and texture - we could have eaten whole bowls of this stuff. Cauliflower cheese - this is exactly what you'd expect from the name; roasted cauliflower topped with plenty of cheese and bread crumbs. It felt a bit heavy but it complemented the meats fairly well. Yorkshire pudding - well, this was a complete surprise. I'm guessing that when the typical American thinks of pudding, we envision the tapioca or chocolate cups that you find in the refrigerated section of the supermarket. Yorkshire pudding is a baked pastry and only slightly sweet. Cora Pearl's version was delicate and light and was a good palate cleanser in between bites of roast or the salty side dishes (which includes carrots and cabbage). All in all, this was an excellent meal in a wonderful setting. It was a good start to our enjoyable week in London. read more

My granddaughter and I came to Cora Pearl based on a recommendation. We stopped in and by luck they were able to seat us. We sat in the front window in a cozy little nook. My granddaughter loved the coziness of the space. We had an amazing meal, steak and a salad. Done just right and very flavorful. We followed it with their "cookies and milk" , YUM! We enjoyed our meal so much we stopped by a second time that week and dined again! The staff and service were impeccable. If I lived in London I would eat here a lot. read more

This restaurant is a must for anyone visiting London who is looking for subtly delicious plates that do not beat to the drum of typical English food.This is the second time I have eaten here, the first in March of this year. I was relieved to find the quality had (if anything) gotten better. The setting is delightful, both upstairs and downstairs. The intimate atmosphere gives the impression you have been let in on a secret that maybe Cora herself wold only have shared with her closest companions.  For the table, we had the fresh bread with shallot butter, which was excellent. We did wonder at there being five of us and four slices of bread, but it was remedied. To begin, I had the agnolotti with Jerusalem artichokes and truffle, and it was sublime. The stuffing was light, but perfectly flavored. There was a delicate hint of truffle, nothing overbearing to the point where one wonders if they have been selected to hunt alongside the pigs in France. The portion was surprisingly large, but that did not stop me from scooping up every last bit of sauce. As a main, I had the duck with the mulled quince, and every part of it was phenomal. The meat was perfectly pink and the skin delightfully crisp, and the accompanying sauces worked so well with the companion flavors. We had side orders of the chips, Brussels sprouts, and broccoli, all of which were fresh and crisp, not a shade overcooked.  I accompanied the meal with two separate cocktails, and that bartender should be given a raise, they were excellent. Tonight I had dinner at Cora Pearl on Henrietta Street in Coven Garden. It was a lovely experience from the moment we walked through the open door. We were welcomed warmly and offered the option to have a drink in the small bar downstairs. We decided to do that before returning upstairs to dine. The bar is cozy and harkens back to an earlier time. I opted for a Negroni, one of my favorite classics, which was executed nicely. After enjoying the quiet speakeasy-ness of the lower level we were seated at a charming little table for 2 in the dining room and were treated with great care that was attentive but not obsequious -- maybe this is a honed British skill? The food was really satisfying, particularly the goat curd with pine nuts and lovage, the pork and beef dishes and the yogurt mousse dessert. This little place is definitely worth a visit if staying in London! read more

Had an early dinner. Upstairs seating was pleasant. Staff was cordial. Had an order of deviled eggs with our wine while choosing from the menu. Pretty looking and tasty. Ordered froie gras and duck terrains. . Came with toast. I asked for some butter but was told I had to order bread to get some. There was a charge for bread. How petty is that. My husband and I shared. He said he tasted froie gras, I only tasted chewy duck. Also ordered agnolotti with cow curd. Nice presentation and flavor. Tasted like ricotta cheese. First entree was sautéed cod and crab with cauliflower. Had a curry sauce and a hollandaise with tiny bits of crab. Also a sauce they said was celeriac, but hard to identify. Second entree veal. They said it was fillet. Dark red in color not pink like veal. Two slices on plate unadorned except with this celeriac purée. Brownish in color. Wish I had taken a photo. Very unappealing. Meat was tender, however, not as described. Ordered a side salade of watercress. Was pleasant tasting but more other ingredients than watercress. Skipped dessert. read more
